its so fucking crazy how the women in men's lives are willing to sacrifice other women for the benefit of some man in their life. Esspecially since men do not and wouldn't do the same for women. Like literally telling other women to throw away their self worth, self respect, et al, just so their son, brother, father, etc can keep getting free pussy. and sometimes not even at the directives of the man they're doing it for.

what pisses me off even more is that the women often know that the man they're trying to help ain't shit and don't deserve the woman they're trying to reel back into the man's life.

The reason why you hate After and enjoy movies like this, is glamorization vs dramatization. After glamorizes an extremely toxic relationship under the guise of true love. The Unmarried Wife just dramatizes a relationship so we can yell at the TV.
@Rikrobat
@Rikrobat Жыл бұрын
Not just glamourizes, but normalizes. Movies like After frame the relationship as a regular feature of a romantic bond.
@mxngos7493

Exactly. After tries to pass it off as normal, whether as this movie is like, "look at all this dumb stuff, you want to yell? do it here, we have your back"
@grandempressvicky6387
@grandempressvicky6387 Жыл бұрын
@@Rikrobat There's also the fact that the relationship itself has no solid basis. This is the problem with all the big teen romance movies like Twilight. The main girl is liked by the main boy for something unchangeable i.e. their physical appearance or something supernatural. He is liked for being untouchable in some way: wealth, looks, power. Neither party has to put any effort into the relationship to make it work, it's just supposed to; and all based on appearance. Edward wouldn't have given Bella anytime of day had she been like anyone else. Christian wouldn't care about Ana if she wasn't a virgin or had idk hair dye. Harden wouldn't have even LOOKED at Tessa if she wasn't a virgin (Holy shit what is up with middle aged white writers and virginity?). The guy from 368 Days hallucinated Laura- it could've been literally anybody else. Them being pretty- not beautiful, just above average - is the bonus. Other than that? She could be a manikin for a personality and they would be satisfied. And this is being marketed towards young people. Boys are being taught that they must be powerful, wealthy, and emotionally distant/unhealthy if they want a woman. Girls are being taught that their personhood does not matter, only their virginity, and they better hope that they find a man obsessive enough to not mind. It perpetuates the horrible gender dynamics that we're still fighting off today. EDIT: It's also boring to watch because there's no meat to these relationships. Only melodrama and that is not sustainable over a long period. There's a reason why Romeo & Juliet is such a short play. There's a reason why the side characters are always more interesting than the mains. There's agency and actual drama in their stories.

My bf’s cousin’s best friend is someone who constantly cheats on girls that he’s dating. I only ever see this guy at parties that my bf’s cousins invite us to, and every single time he’s with a different girl, or he leaves with a different girl. My bf later on found out that his cousins best friend’s dad was also a known cheater and would constantly cheat on his mom. Yet his mom dealt with it and convinced herself that “Yes he cheats but he always comes back to me. Therefore he chooses me” and that she literally knows that her son constantly cheats as well but just sees it as “It’s just something that men do” It’s so gross

Sue Brian for misrepresentation and costing her her job. Dude lied and made her a mistress without her knowledge which made her lose her job. 4. I wouldn’t have resigned I woulda had them fire me. The moment they fire me I upload a video crying on KZfaq explaining my sad ass life story so that people pity me. And I would publicize that the job fired me without investigating the claim. Let me share with you how backwards and misogynistic our freaking country really is. Prepare to get heated because ugh! In the Philippines, Anne can only sue Geoff for concubinage (the husband cheating) if she can prove that he had sexual relations with the mistress under "scandalous" circumstances, or if he lets the mistress live in the conjugal house. If he lives with the mistress that's grounds too. And if he's guilty he can get 4 years, max. The mistress gets a restraining order. Now if Geoff decides to sue Anne for adultery (the wife cheating) he just needs to prove that she has/had relations with the other man. If she's guilty, she and the other man get 6 years max.

Full agree with Kennie. I might be able to forgive someone, eventually, for cheating on me and breaking my trust, but I would never be able to forget the harm they inflicted. Not being able to trust someone in my life is just a dealbreaker; our dynamic will never be the same. As for staying in a marriage “for the child,” I don’t think it’s healthy-relationship modelling if the kid sees their parents being emotionally distant / not affectionate. If you’re trying to fix the relationship, that’s different, but just staying married with your child as the sole reason will likely make things worse.

I just think it is a way harder decision to end a relationship versus work on it when you have a child together. @@samanthanorton4538 - Oh, it’s absolutely a way harder decision to make, and I don’t have the right answer for every situation. The chances of getting (someone) pregnant on birth control is never 0, but it's ignoring the fact contraceptives are pretty damn effective when used correctly especially when you double up. This abstinence only talk is why I wanted pregnancies happen. Whether we like it or not people are going to have sex and think "if I might get pregnant anyways why use protection at all?" As someone who was best friends with someone whose parents "stayed together for the child", it's literally the worst thing a parent could do. Arguing non stop in front of your children, you are literally traumatising them for life and showing them that's what 'love' is. I thank God everyday my parents divorced, I was too young to understand so not as traumatised but at least I hope to find love one day, a healthy love.

I saw what a lack of respect looks like, what I don't want in my own marriage, but having both my parents has given me this innate sense of security and stability that I see lacking in my husband. My in laws were able to find stability in a new, healthier marriage, but the abandonment issues and lack of boundaries from his mom being a single mom for a time(and having that mentality even after marriage) has affected my husband too. In the Philippines getting divorced is literally illegal, unless you’re Muslim. I’ve noticed cheating is always a big trope in Filipino movies and series and it’s probably for this reason. Getting cheated on is horrible enough as it is, but imagine being forced by law to stay with a cheating partner.
@nymphmythic454
@nymphmythic454 3 ай бұрын
I think the reason why cheating breaks these relationships up is that cheating on your partner grants you the ability to get an annulment. Which is legal in the Philippines. Which is similar to a divorce but still allows you to take Sacrament (wine and bread thing I Christianity). It's as if the marriage hadn't happened. It's a Christian thing.
@curiouspiece
@curiouspiece Жыл бұрын
The thing about Philippines is that divorce isnt legal here. You can legally separate from your partner, but not actually divorce them. So you can imagine how many issues can arise from that alone (i.e. staying with a cheating spouse, domestic abuse cases, etc). It's pretty tough and I never understood why that was even considered illegal in the first place

honestly? this didn't even really seem like a bad movie. We clearly aren't meant to sympathize with the shitty abusive people or find their abuse romantic or sexy, which is not the case with a lot of movies. The lines we see seem pretty well written, and Ann doesn't end up with any of the shitty people in the end. The men are wildly infuriating, but that's because they're meant to be, rather than because their horrible attributes are being pushed as desirable by the film.

The point of cheating: you need someone to support and validate you on a level of commitment you are not willing to uphold. Once that person sees through the cracks and identifies that weakness you are trying to mask, you need another person who is blind to who you are to give you the validation of who you want to be. I’ve seen dudes date woman with houses and cars, then attract the side chick with the car that’s titled to his main girl cus his credit is $h1t. Side girl thinks he must really have his act together, meanwhile he’s on this on going cycle of living off woman who use him to validate their own insecurities. He never works on maturing and getting himself together to function as an adult, because he’s constantly lying to woman and himself about who he is

Quick storytime: I had to learn the hard way, too, to just move on from cheaters because it's a dead-end relationship no matter how you spin it. I dated my high school sweetheart from age 15 to 21...until he got a girl pregnant on me. So we broke up while he moved on to date her. Yet I still loved him and couldn't let him go so he started cheating on her with me. When she found out, they broke up and he attempted to get back with me. He said he "wanted this time to be different" and wanted to be honest about everything going forward...so he confessed that he actually cheated on me in high school, too. Then he said, "Now that everything is out, we should get married." LMAOOO. I said no but I kept fooling around with him until I finally realized he was fooling around with his baby moms at the same time, too, confessing that he wanted us both. 💀 Finally decided he was never good to me or for me and that I needed to let him go fr to be happy. I'm 30 now and I know that it doesn't matter if they do change their ways...they broke your trust in the most selfish way possible because they cared more about their n*t than you. Kennie, you spoke a word in this video and made me laugh until I cried. Thanks for that and to anyone thinking of staying after they've been cheated on: You deserve better because all the love you have to give, someone wants to give it back to you.
