Well that's a bummer. I did the same kind of thing on turkey. Could not figure out why I had missed this old longbeard. I looked down at my shotgun and it dawned on me... the extra full turkey choke I have extends past the end of the barrel an inch and the choke I had in was flush with the end of the barrel. Wrong choke tube. I had taken that shotgun with me on a trip to hunt small game the fall before and switched out the choke tube to my modified choke. Missed the longest bearded bird of my life AND my buddy was there with me to witness it AND reminds me about once a year of that story and how I missed. (what are friends for)

You mentioned long range shooting! I know you worked in sporting goods! How serious is parallax! Will a scope dialed to 250 cause a miss at 100?

Well I had mine dialed to 300 on my custom turret not the parallax that just cleans up the optic. Also I was holding a touch high for a high shoulder shot to anchor the deer so definitely shot over him

I was asking because I missed this evening, I guess! I shoot a 300 wsm and somehow missed at about 100 yards! Afterwards I noticed that my parallex was set around 250 from last Sunday afternoon when I was sitting a pipeline!
