I started doing deload weeks every 4th week and I really like it. I'm 57 and I just feel better now. So after deload I do a moderately hard week and then progress harder each week until the last week before deload I push really hard, use music and try to go for new PBs. Works for me.

This is basically the model of training described by Dr Isratel at Renaissance Periodization.

My trainer just suggested a deload week this morning. It freaked me out a bit! I've been very consistent since we started over six months ago. I've maybe missed three workouts in that time. So I'll give it a try, but I'll just dial it back a bit rather than skipping workouts entirely.

Sounds like I'd be a dream client. Haven't missed a workout that I can remember except once a year vacations.

Find Dr Mike's and Sal's advice on this the best. Get it for an athlete but I always train too hard and am consistent and have no scheduled de-load and simply half everything for a week when progression has stopped or even plateaued. Always come back fresher and stronger, only thing when I was in my 20s used to be able to train hard for 16 weeks then deload, at 45 its more like 6 weeks

I've been going as hard as possible for coming up on 5 years straight. Ravenously doing reasearch, rigorously practicing proper diet/form/HIIt cardio/abs/rest and supplementation in addition to pretty awesome consistency in strength training. A few injuries over the years (upper bicep tendon, epicondiltis, and spinal tendonitis). Proper healing methods while learning different ways to stay consistent, and this is my first deload week, of course with a full time physical job (factory 🏭 work). I have high hopes for this deload week! Keeping calories high enough, getting great rest, and focusing on form. Here's hoping! I expect to see fat losses 📉, size gains and strength gains. 1st one in almost five years baby!

I am really considering a deload, las biceps workout man after 2 days my biceps hurt, last time I did bench my hands, my wrists were in pain when I deracked, my feet joint hurts. I think my body is telling me to rest. Ohhh and My lower back.

I'm in my mid-50's. I've just done (what I consider to be) a de-load week. I train consistently yet I've found that my PBs for bench press and squat from late January / early February are not ones that I could achieve now. That said, I feel good and believe I "look" good. YT and other media suggest the benefits of de-load weeks... which for me involved still working out but with lighter weights / fewer reps / not going to exhaustion or failure . (Yet I can see another suggested vid in my feed which says "de-load weeks are pointless" . Maybe it it just trial and error and see what works ... ? )

I see contradicting points here... we know that there's a direct correlation between volume and growth but apparently taking a week off with less volume also yielded similar results... I love scientific studies. It's almost as if everyone's different and there's 0 way to actually control predisposed genetic factors.

You started to say, "who should do deload weeks" and then never name off groups. The most obvious is women when they have or are about to have their period, especially if they aren't on birth control pills. Based on the hormone cycle, we are limited at that time with regard to building muscle and working out. MissFitAndNerdy (who turned me on to you guys) has at least one video about this.
