IMO Shoko is better than Fern in regards to how Finn can still have a “bad” side depending on how the people around him will treat him. I really love Fern as a character but the reason I prefer Shoko when showing Finn’s bad side is because one can argue that the grass curse/demon is what made Fern act out the way he was while with Shoko it’s clear as day she is the way she is due to her rough upbringing.

I really love all your analysis videos, you really make me think about the shows that I love and see them in a completely new light and add so much to the discussion of characterization and story arcs. Shoko was such a cool and unique character and I agree that it’s a shame she really didn’t have much screen time in the show but I can’t argue that her appearance and impact weren’t effective. Also I always tear up when shoko falls in the radioactive river and her tiger sadly paces around looking for her 😭😭😭

I don't know if it's actually true, but I feel PB's amulet was either something that originated from the comics or was followed up in them... despite them not being canon to the show at all due to their own brand of storytelling. Which is kind of a shame. I would have loved to see all the outside source material surrounded PB to be explored in the actual show. Even the Mother Gum I think was something that came from a videogame.
