I love these guys, whatever formation of the group they appear, but there will never be an equivalent bass replacing the great Charlie Moffitt. I always made him old gospel tapes quarter tapes. He used to call me up and thank me, but I could never fully understand what he was telling me because he had such a deep rich talking and singing voice!

@gilltorres Your right on the mark with your comments. I've heard them many times at UGHA and they actually sound fabulous. Charles Moffitt does justice to the Velours sound and the group could double for the original.

Ramos helped reform The Velours along with Charles Moffit and Eulis Mason. Mason took over the lead when Romey left because he was having trouble with his voice. They recruited me and Joe Shepard. Nelson Shields replaced Romey and that became Charles Moffits' Velours

But of course, we called it ROCK 'N' ROLL, not doowop. Doowop is revisionist history, actually a kind of put-down. The original rock 'n' roll songs were by BLACK VOCAL GROUPS. Same time as Elvis (even earlier).
