Content Cop was a necessary evil. Massive, heavily-scrutinizing creator takedowns are like whalefalls, and they absolutely accomplish their goal in stunning fashion: deconstruct a terrible person and their terrible content thoroughly, methodically, and inarguably. Nowadays these videos are more respectful/digestible by mainstream audiences and have a wider influence, but they get the job done. Content Cop never really went away, it just evolved after being picked up by other people.

I never had a problem with iDubbbz not doing the slurs or being edgy anymore. I just have a problem with how he makes himself out to be better than everyone while apologizing for what he did in the past. None of us are the same people we were five years ago.

Kind of telling how the person who grew up from the experience (Tana) says she didn't need an apology, and the person who didn't grow up at all (Ricegum) is whining that he didn't get one and is dismissive about it.

As someone who was a fan of Idubbbz, his main victim is himself. Kind of ironic and sad to see. He should do a content cop on himself and be honest about it lol.

Idubbbz is a textbook example of branding gone wrong. He catered to a specific audience for a long time, then suddenly decided to become completely different and denounced the very audience that made him successful. Whether you agree or disagree with this new direction, we all have to admit that antagonizing the core fanbase never ends well.

It's so weird people never call out that the height/eye/hair on your license in the US in the recent years is literally just whatever you write it as. They don't measure you when you go to the DMV. They don't analyze your eye color. I feel like way too many people use "well it's like that on my license" as some validating evidence, when the fact is THEY wrote that when they filled their paperwork out. Often the lies are minor so nobody really cares to clock it, but my ex who was barely 6ft had a license that said 6'6" and because all the people who ever did his forms at the DMV were extremely short, nobody ever called him out for it.

I believe content cop was important to make because you had content creators who thought they were holier then thou and thought they could do and say whatever they wanted and content cop held them accountable.
