Weird that no one mentioned her first on-screen role as Wonder Girl opposite Lynda Carter. I think Winger is still reluctant to talk about the character she played on the Wonder Woman tv series.
@trevl89557 жыл бұрын
They were probably told not to bring it up, or she simply refused to talk about it prior to the interview occurring. Most people don't realize that actors/actresses are given a list of the questions prior to going on stage, so they can decide if they want to say no to some of them or not. It also gives them an opportunity to figure out how they're going to answer any questions prior to getting on stage - so none of these interviews are as spontaneous or on-the-spot as people think. Whether it's common knowledge or not, Debra Winger loathed the part of Wonder Girl and she used all of the money she made on Wonder Woman to buy her way out of her contract so she wouldn't have to appear in anymore episodes. Prior to this even happening, Warner Bros. had been planning to spin Wonder Girl off into her own series starring Debra, of course, but she turned it down - so that was the end of that. Debra Winger was, and still is, a very ungrateful person.
@seanpowell16617 жыл бұрын
Trev L Thanks Trev for the info! I heard that too about Winger turning down the WG spinoff. However, it didn't make sense in the season 2 premiere of Wonder Woman that before she returned to America in 1977, there was NO mention of Drusilla before Diana left the island again. It was as if the character had never existed. In addition, I watched a documentary on the Wonder Woman tv series where Lynda Carter said that she was intimidated at first by the Wonder Girl character. Maybe Carter didn't want the WG character brought into the 70s. It would have been nice if the producers had decided to pick a new actress to play Wonder Girl like Kathleen Beller (Kirby from Dynasty). Beller looks exactly like Donna Troy. The writers could've came up with an idea in the season 2 premiere where Diana saves a baby girl from a burning building before she leaves America in 1945. Then, Wonder Woman brings the baby girl to Paradise Island to be raised by her mother, the Queen. When it is decided that Diana must return to America again, we see her telling her little sister aka Donna Troy, that she has to go. Then in season 3, Kathleen could have made a few guest appearances as the new Wonder Girl making "us" forget about Drusilla from season 1. Besides, Donna Troy is her little sister in the comic books not Drusilla.

Lynda Carter was really pissed off at her especially complimenting her graciously. Debra made this horror story about her and called her a Diva.
