Wow - prices have gone up. When I was in Kolkata in 2004, each Bollywood record cost 70 rupees max. Less than a pound. I still have them all.

Sad to hear about those vanishing Indian vinyl stores. During my school days in Cochin, South India, there were at least 5 record stores in my town. The last of them, I heard closed down in 1994.

A great collection of Bollywood Vinyl. If money is not an issue then definitely recommend this place because couple of records shown in video are way too much than they would usually go for. I recently picked a copy of “AAJ RAAT KO” in mint unplayed condition for $79 and to see it going for $385 is mind blowing. Records are manufactured in India again. Many classics are re-issued recently. Again these records are rare and piece of history. I do understand these record shops make their bread and butter from these but these prices usually keep people away from these shops and once in a while when a non-Indian customer shows up they try to make most out of him.

I need to visit India to checkout the country and this place!

Rather than asking so many questions about where he finds his records I think it would of been more interesting if you asked him about the history of records in India. It's too bad your only interest is "Western" music, I've picked up many great records of "Indian Music" while in Delhi.

So dull and very unhelpful. When people are doing free coverage for your shop, the least you can do is smile and be a bit more friendly.

We never purchased from old collectors from there homes or even the markets only from a few Rhythm House in Bombay and Sha Music in Delhi.These people are kind of unprofessional.
