CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Jerry (Ryan Reynolds) recalls his involvement in the gruesome death of his mother (Valerie Koch).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
An amiable shipping clerk's optimistic exterior masks a dark secret that leads to tragic repercussions when he stops taking his anti-psychotic meds in this satirical horror comedy from Marjane Satrapu. Jerry (Ryan Reynolds) lives in the picturesque American town of Milton, where he earns his living in a factory that produces bathtubs and toilets. Jerry pines for his pretty co-worker, Fiona (Gemma Arterton), who works in accounting and barely acknowledges his existence. Optimistic that he can win her affections after he's recruited to help organize an office work party, Jerry stops taking the medications prescribed to him by his psychiatrist (Jacki Weaver), and that's when the voices start. Though his loyal dog offers Jerry comforting words of reassurance, his cynical cat continually reminds him that he is deeply deranged and completely unworthy of love. Later, when Jerry finally manages to get Fiona alone, the sudden and unexpectedly grim turn of events sends Jerry plummeting down a particularly dark path. Anna Kendrick co-stars

Dương Minh Đoàn Of course I have. That's my favorite genre of comedy. Almost every black comedies have these types of scenes. Shaun of the dead Shaun shoots his mom cause she becomes a zombie Trainspotting One drug addict gets a nightmare of the dead baby he negletected. This movie has this scene. They have one thing in common, they break up the redicoulness of the scenes before and after with a either saddening or horrific scene like this. And thus the audience asks, "you sure this is a comedy?"

man I wish this movie was more well known. I personally think this is Ryan Reynold's best work. Deadpool was great but this movie was just... wow.

I think I'll become a cult classic eventually. I literally just heard about this movie from BloodBath & Beyond, & this came out in 2015! Once word gets around to enough ppl I think it'll become more popular. They juat didn't advertise this very well for whatever reason(s), so word of mouth is the main advertisement. Which is slower moving than big budget films with so much in your face advertising that one can't help but notice it.

One of the most heartbreaking "flashbacks". Knowing this about Jerry, makes you hurt for him, even though he becomes a serial killer.

Great movie, have a hard time choosing whether this was how it actually happened, or just how he remembers it. Did she actually ask him to kill her or was that just another one of his delusions?

psychotic mental illnesses are often hereditary. both as a result of genetics and as a result of the deprived raising more deprived. the interpretation that this is both real and indicative of his fantasy/impulses is very legitimate.

1:38 the scars on her arm, i have a few questions, am i seeing things? or did they add them to the character? or are they they the actresses scar if they added them that is impressive character detail

For a "black comedy", it sure does make you forget it with some of it's very human, very sad and very dark moments. The ending really nailed that it was supposed to be a dark comedy but jeez....you had to be reminded more than a few times in the movie that it was.

The people treated Jerry as a murderer when he was a kid but his mother begged him to be put put of her misery, that's all be did.When he was abused and that led up to him killing people. He needed a better therapist that he should trust.
