This is why we all have issues with Lori.

I think the reason Lori reacted the way she did because deep down she did have feelings for Shane but wouldn’t admit it/lying to herself. She might also believe the baby is his. Ricks reaction to her reaction makes me think he just realized that himself.

That image of Hershel standing alone in front of the house blasting away at the walkers with the burning barn in the distance gives me chills every time!

The actress that plays Lori said in an interview that her reaction was about fearing that Rick can turn into Shane when she heard he "wanted to kill," and also knowing Carl lost his innocence by putting Shane down.

Rick didn't blowup because the group was against him (Or at least not entirely), it was because of Lori. When Lori gave Rick a look of disgust after confessing that he killed Shane, that's the moment Rick snapped. Rick told Lori once that while he can take it from the others he couldn't when it came to Lori, she's his rock and the one thing he needs to his side and when that was no longer the case Rick exploded.

Yeah, now you understand why most don't like Lori. She does Rick super dirty here. Rick immediately forgave Lori and Shane's indiscretion, but she ends up turning her back on him after he does what she suggested he do with Shane. He said what he did at the end because they're all whispering and questioning him, but relying on him when it's convenient. So, he's just angry because he's done so much for them and now they seem to be turning on him the way Lori did.

Lori is just pissed she no longer has two best friends fighting over her. A few episodes ago she is whispering in Rick's ear about how dangerous Shane is, planting the idea that he needs to be stopped/killed. She was also asking Shane to not leave and thanking him for all he has done. Now gets upset at the very act she planted the seed for. Lori stinks!!

Lol the infinite ammo shotgun has been a running joke with TWD community since this episode aired. That scene is iconic. 😂😂😂 Another great reaction from you guys. I can’t wait for the season 3 reactions. Season 3 is definitely one of my favorite seasons of TWD and is the season that really blew the show up in popularity. It seemed like everyone started watching this show after season 3.

The helicopter in the opener is the same one that was briefly shown in Season 1. It is also the same scene. So the Walkers are already in the direction of Farm since Season 1. So it took quite a while to reach the farm. Always following the sounds. Lori is not so shocked because shane is dead, but because Carl killed him. Carl killed his best friend or part-time father here. Rick said that there is no democracy anymore, because it has always been just quarrels. Everyone wanted something different (Shane and Rick), which then (almost) escalated every time. Now someone tells you where to go and the others follow or can say goodbye.

I summed up the season as this: Carl's stupid, Rick is a badass, Shane is crazy, Dale is dead, Lori is just the worst, Hershel is stubborn, Glenn is confused, Maggie is confusING, Andrea is awesome, Daryl is smart, Carol is desperate, and T-dog is there. Idk if I forgot anyone.

When Daryl talks about his mom in season 3, he says something to the effect of he was playing with neighbourhood kids who were on bikes and he watched his family's trailer burn down with his mom inside when he was about Carl's age. Knowing that and watching this gives a little bit of insight as to why Daryl was sitting watching the barn burn down.

I truly feel that Lori was just angry when she heard that Carl is the one who put Shane down. before that she was saddened but understood why Rick killed him. she only pushed his arm away after hearing about Carl putting Shane down IMO

3rd season my fav!!!! Rick states this is not a democracy anymore because Shane/everyone debating his actions divides the group, he needs people on the same page and have faith in his decisions so he can lead and protect. Plus he was tired of everyone 2nd guessing him. And this episode is why i hate Lori. Love the mystery character!

Hershel's unlimited ammo who could forget. One of the many things that was weird with Darabont in charge like the walkers running and climbing fences and holding rocks and picking up stuffed animals glad they got rid of him when they did or he would've had them talking by season 5

If you had to have a council of three or four people to make decisions for the group who would you have on it and why? Good luck on figuring out Lori’s mindset, I have to assume it was because Carl had to put Shane down, but her reaction starts before that info is given. Like I’ve said before, Lori is the queen of bad decisions. On another note, I love that you instantly called the dark figure at the ends walkers their pets! About the Lori scene this is my take on the subject based on the scene alone and also one interview Sarah Wayne Callies (Lori’s actress) did way back when S2 ended. Lori isn’t actually mad at Rick when Rick says he killed Shane she’s kinda shocked and you know kinda sad after all Shane did matter to her and to Rick as well when Rick says he wanted to kill Shane she’s scared that he may be turning into the new Shane (and that final scene with the beginning of the Ricktatorship didn’t help it either) But what really destroys her is to learn that Carl was the one to put him down she’s blaming both herself and Rick for not being able to protect Carl from the horrors of this new world we can clearly see how much Carl is changing and now he had to kill someone who meant a lot to him at that moment she’s feeling so many things and she can’t process it she doesn’t want anyone touching her or talking to her she just need a moment to herself so she can take a breath and process everything. You can see it all in the facial and corporal expressions of Lori you can see she’s still close to Rick and absorbing all the information that Rick is giving to her I killed him/ I wanted to kill him however that bigger reaction only happens after Rick says Carl put him down you can see that’s when she goes away and don’t want Rick to touch her she wasn’t scared or angry at him she just needed a moment to take a breath and process everything.

I despised Lori from the start, but as soon as she treated Rick THAT way in THIS episode (after she basically told Rick to kill Shane --in the tent on the farm), I LOATHED her.

Thanks for the reaction! You guys were so right with your prediction about dying and turning into a walker, even if you're not bitten. Looking forward to seeing how you call the next season. I think yes, Lori was pissed about Carl putting Shane down, and what that might do to Carl. But also there were some feelings there about Rick killing Shane. And about Shane being gone. Even though she knew it had to happen. Knowing a thing has to happen and then it actually happening are two different things. She's a pain in the butt, but she's also human.

I think a big reason walkers stay in herds/groups is because they're all attracted to noise, and if a few of them head one way because of noise, they'll eventually make noise too (such as banging on doors, etc.) and then nearby walkers will hear and come over too. A single gunshot could attract just a small group or even less than that that could eventually form a herd. You would also have massive herds like the one in Atlanta in episode one, say, and then smaller groups merging with that one and it just continues until you get something like what you see at the farm. Man, I never get tired of Daryl's development. Last time Lori asked him to search for Rick he flipped out on her and this time he immediately agreed and so kindly. Also, the scene of him giving Rick that handshake when just earlier this season he was like "or are just chattin?". He used to be so hand waving toward Rick sometimes but now they're so close. Daryl also could have just took off by himself when they lost the farm but he stayed back for a while. I think he may have been watching the farm because it was kind of the place he really got accepted in the group and was sad to see it go, but also possibly waiting for anyone who needed help. Also he got everyone together in the end and I LOVE that. GHHHH I love Daryl so much, y'all. That man deserves the biggest of bear hugs. "There's no way they have enough ammo for all of them." HAHAAA, YOU HAVEN'T HEARD OF INFINITE AMMO HERSHEL, HAVE YOU? God lmao that scene is just hilarious with that constant shooting. It just looks like a video game. Hershel must have got some kind of elderly benefits or something. 😂 I like how before Beth was telling Maggie that Rick and his group wouldn't save their family. Like, yeah, Jimmy and Patricia did die, but Lori really did what she could to save Beth, Glenn stuck with Maggie and did everything he could to keep her calm, and Rick did everything he could to get Hershel to go with him and not waste his life there like that. This was a really good thing she was proven wrong about and I think it made her wake up a bit and realize they wouldn't just abandon them. With Patricia there was no choice because she was already being attacked, but just like with Rick and Hershel there was no way Lori was going to just let go of Beth and let Beth die there too. I love how Rick's group does everything they can for Hershel's family because Hershel's family did everything they could for Carl in the beginning (and let's be honest if Hershel really wanted them off his farm he could have kicked them out a long, long time ago before he even realized walkers weren't just sick people). They probably didn't choose to stay in the house because if they did stay and were quiet, if the walkers didn't move on and hung around (or noticed Rick and Carl going to the house and some wandered there which would eventually create a larger group over there), the group would lose their only chance to escape. Like, if they did stay but got trapped that would be the definite end, versus this one chance they had while the walkers were distracted by the fire to get out and run. I think in the end they decided to run because it gave them better odds than risking getting surrounded and either starved out (and tbh how much movement could they even do to get food if the walkers were hanging around) or the walkers potentially taking the house down. I guess it was the lesser of two evils in this case to run while they had their best shot at it. It's really ironic imo that Shane doing what he did with Rick was ultimately the cause of Hershel losing his home. All this time he wanted Shane off his land and didn't trust him and then in the end he was right - that very same person did something that caused the noise that attracted the walkers to the farm. I felt so bad for him when he looked out the back window and was watching his farm being overrun. :( I do really love though how him, Rick and Carl ended up together when everyone got separated. They've been through a lot and it all started with Carl. By the end of the episode I really feel a good bond between Rick and Hershel. Hershel smiling when everyone showed up was so sweet and adorable! I love Hershel. To this day I still don't fully understand Lori's reaction to Rick toward the end. I've always figured it was an overreaction to being overwhelmed between hearing Carl put Shane down (even if as a walker because she's the one who didn't want him using a gun to begin with) and because Rick killed someone he cared about. I think she's probably scared of both aspects and also maybe even mad at herself? Like maybe she thinks (realizes? idk) that she's the reason Rick went that far (though really he had no choice so it's not like he did it it willingly). I guess after everything that just happened and with everyone panicking she freaked out. Sometimes people react oddly in stressful situations and very impulsively, so I've always figured that was what this was. It definitely confuses me though because I don't feel like we have enough context on her end to really... get why she reacts this way? I find it really odd tbh and I feel like it's a bit of poor writing. Normally I can understand character motivations at least a bit, but this one is just a bunch of questions for me. All I can really guess is that she's afraid that Rick and/or Carl are becoming /like/ Shane and she's afraid of that and the other stuff I mentioned. Like, is she /blaming/ Rick? Because I don't get why she would since she seemed understanding at first? ??? I guess maybe Rick saying he just wanted it dead and he wanted Shane dead didn't really help, but yikes. Maybe she's scared of what Rick could become, because she saw Shane become similar and look how that turned out. Animal Crossing question mark above my head tbh. Ngl I can't stand how Carol treats Rick. She treats him like shit and like he's /using/ everyone. Like, nobody else ran after your daughter to save her when she got up and ran. Yes Daryl went looking for her multiple times but Rick never stopped searching and kept /insisting/ they continued searching despite what happened to Carl and despite Shane telling him over and over to move on. She's incredibly ungrateful to Rick imo. To even say he thinks of Daryl as his henchman just really shot her to the bottom of my list for the people in this group tbh. She's been awful to him this entire season, but that's just... :/ I get people don't like Lori for not doing anything for the group really, but... neither did Carol and Carol turns around and treats people like shit after all the effort they put into looking for her daughter while she sat around moping. Like, I'm sorry, but being a former abused wife doesn't give you the right to treat other people trying to help you like shit. If that was my kid I'd be taking part in the gun training and doing what I could to look for my kid and go out with the stronger people in the group so they could watch out for me but so I could also be out there, get real practice and be able to look. I'm not sure if I liked Rick's speech at the end so much as I just understand it. He's hurt and pissed off and just so done. I don't agree with it, but he's also right. I think Daryl COULD lead but I don't think he wants to and I don't think anyone else in the group is capable of leading the way Rick does or better. Nobody got up and left either, so imo that does prove him right. It was emotional and impulsive and kind of harsh, but he's right. Also, in a way he is saying he wants to protect the group still, but that they can't keep doubting him and being all broken up. If they don't get themselves together and they don't trust him, he can't protect them. He cares about them but he can't lead a group that's so divided. It's like, I care about you and if I have to take drastic measures to keep this group alive, that's what I'm gonna do. I love your ideas of doing post season livestreams. I have always felt what upset Lori was the fact that Carl had to put a reanimated Shane down. She as mom didn’t want a young Carl to be affected by the world they live in. There is no exactly explanation for Lori Lol, But I think she blamed Rick that why he let Carl killed Shane as this young because he didn't explained the situation clearly. To be honest, she didn't take care of Carl the way that she supposed to as well, always let him away from her sight.

I always found it funny how the walkers went from all the way from Atlanta to Hershel’s farm. Makes me think of a nature documentary for some reason. Other then that I loved the scenes with their final stand at the farm which is both badass and heartbreaking

everyone's reaction after Rick tells them they're all infected will disappoint me all my life because the decisions he made he made them for the group. Rick does everything to protect them and they react without recognition ARRGHH

I'm not 100% sure but I think Lori is mad at Rick, because she thinks Rick told Carl or Allowed him to shoot Walker Shane. Maybe she just misunderstood the situation.

Lori still had feelings for Shane this whole time, they didn't just go away, hence all the mixed signals. She was confused about how she felt. Remember, she always wanted Shane to leave but never wanted him to go. When Rick starts talking about having to kill him she immediately starts backing away trying to process it. This builds and builds until Rick Mentions Carl being the one that put him down, and that was the last straw.

So apparently according to the creators of the show and the actress that plays Lori she reacted the way she did because she was pissed that Karl had to kill walker Shane. She was pissed because it was getting rid of Karl's innocence. Though to me personally it didn't look like that and looked like she was pissed that Shane was dead. Its one of those confusing parts in a show were the creator sees it one way, and when the watchers see it another way. Like in Game of Thrones when during Joffery's funeral it looked like to everyone that Jamie was raping Cersi, when the creators said that wasn't what was happening and it was just rough sex.

Welcome to "Everyone Hates Lori". Yeah, her actions in these last few episodes, turned a lot of people against her. No, you guys didn't miss anything. This shift in character is as jarring this time through, as it was the first time. Also as others have said, say hello to the Ricktatorship. The fun never ends. When walkers are grouped like this they're known as herds. Let's say a walker hears a gunshot and begins to follow it, if it ever comes across more walkers they would form a group going in the same direction and possibly encounter another group causing a merge. what you end up with is thousands of the undead, following a sound they've long since forgotten.

I get mixed feelings of excitement and uncertainty because you don’t know who they are or what their story is. You could hate them, or - as has happened a few times for me - they could become some of your favourite characters on the show.

Did anyone else notice the brain splatter all over the back of Hershel 's head when Rick shot the walker behind him? I never noticed that before. That must have felt gross!

The reason I hate Lori is she is so manipulative. Like, she'd be so angry at rick and Shane for things, and say something then turn around and change her mind and be angry that they did whatever she wanted them to do first. With Rick, she was like 'he'll show you' about Merle's location then turned around and was like 'you're just gunna leave us?' With Shane it's 'stay away from my family' then is all angry when Shane shrugs off Carl, and then says he is leaving, like it's a slight against her. She legit basically said that Shane needed to go, then is all upset that Rick told her he killed him, even when Shane was going to kill him first!!! She's very manipulative and so wishy washy, and I really hated that. The actress does a very good job of it, and I love her, I think it's a good thing whenever an actor/actress can get ANY sort of reaction out of someone, whether it's hate or love. So she definitely did a good job.

Lori didn't really freak out until Rick said Carl put Shane down . Still weird though.

Question for the livestream... Jon Bernthal (Shane) said in 2012 at a fan event that originally Shanes death was supposed to be slightly different. When Rick begins to talk Shane down, Rick tosses his gun aside and tries to talk Shane down, and eventually stabs him just like he did in the show. But once Shane reanimated, Rick is too far from his gun and grabs Shanes gun only to realize that Shanes gun had no ammo in it, implying that Shane set up the whole Randall situation so that Rick would be forced to kill him and put him out of his misery. He couldn't accept Lori and Carl not being his and what the world had done to him, so he decided to make a plan and push Rick to murdering him. My question is, do you think that Shane actually would have gone through with killing Rick if Rick hadn't killed him? Or do you think Shane's gun didn't have any ammo in it and it was a setup for Rick to put him down? IMO I don't necessarily think that Shane's gun was empty, but I honestly don't think he could kill Rick, he just wouldn't be able to cope with it. Even though Shane made it clear to everyone he knew what had to be done in this new world and that he could protect Lori and Carl but Rick couldn't, I truly believe deep down inside he knew he couldn't live with what the world was turning him into. He could've shot Rick at any point in that scene and never pulled the trigger. Also the gun that is fired in Shane's death scene is most likely Rick gun based on the sound, not Shane's.

I think it had everything to do with Carl. Remember she didn't want Carl to become cold and hard and he had to put down someone he knew. The reaction was all about Carl.

Trivia fact: The guy in the RV was Jimmy. The actor that played Jimmy, had a real life deathly fear of...zombies. When you see him screaming as hes being torn up by walkers, he had said in an interview, he wasnt acting, he was that terrorized by the doing the scene. Also, my hate for Lori proved to be justified this episode. How dare she look at Rick with hate, after SHE was the one that was hinting about Shane being a danger to them all. This was one of the best episodes of that first few seasons. I say "first few seasons" because fans could not imagine then, how the characters life of survival would continue to play out. Smiles to you both for another great review! Now on to SEASON 3!!! Still one of the all time best seasons!

If Shane hadn’t of cleared out the barn , they wouldn’t of had a place to keep Randal and rick and Carl wouldn’t have had as easy of an escape ;) it all plays into each other

I think Lori was more angry at the fact that Carl was the one who had to put Shane down. Before that it just seemed like she was observing everything that Rick was telling her

I was hoping Rick would say: "I'm sorry, I killed your boyfriend."

The bottom line about Lori is she's just crazy. The kind of crazy that doesn't know what she wants, but knows how to get it (line from "Anarchy in the UK", by The Sex Pistols). The kind of crazy for whom truth is only the truth if it has a use. The kind of crazy who is amoral (i.e. she doesn't really know the difference between wrong and right), but she knows reward and punishment. The kind of crazy who see accountability the same way they see truth: only meaningful if has a use (to themselves). I think these are a few of the traits of a psychopath...?
