The Waltons television show was a family favorite that ran for nine seasons. It is about family and life in a simpler, slower time. The creator of the Waltons was Earl Hamner Jr. He was the real “John Boy”. He wrote about his family and their life in rural Virginia during the depression. The house he grew up in is still standing and has been restored in Schuyler, Virginia. We had the opportunity to tour “John Boy’s” boyhood home. This house brings back so many memories of this wholesome and family-oriented show. Come along with us as we tour the real “Waltons House”.

It is a great show. You don't see TV shows like this anymore on TV. I have always enjoyed the Waltons. We are looking forward to going back and visiting the museum when it is open. Thanks for all your support.

Our Senior group from New Hope Baptist Church visited here several years ago. Also toured the museum which was actually the school building. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the memorabilia associated with one of my favorite TV programs. Did not know that the home had been sold and is now a private residence. Thanks for sharing; your video brought back many pleasant memories.

That sounds like a great trip! The museum is closed for the winter so we were unable to tour it. Looking forward to going back and touring the museum. Such a great show and great memories seeing the memorabilia.

Yay!! My grandmother lives a quarter mile from here and the Walton’s mountain museum was her elementary school. She has lived on Walton’s mountain her whole life. Part of the family heritage! In front of her house is a large “Amos” sign made of soapstone from the mine in Schuyler. Thanks for covering this!!! Loved it

We went to the Walton's Mountain Museum, but it was closed for the season and will be opening back up in the spring. We will have to go back and check it out once it opens back up. That is so cool about the Amos sign being in front of her house. We hoped you enjoyed the video and thanks so much for watching and commenting. We hope you have a great week. Ah yes. I grew up watching The Waltons. I had no idea this place existed. What a cool tribute to the real family who inspired this classic show. Thanks for the tour!

We have been wanting to come here for a while now. So, we decided to take a trip back at the end of December. There is also a Waltons museum there but that was closed and will re-open in the spring. We want to go check that out later. Also, there is a bed and breakfast right across the street from the museum that we went in as well. The bed and breakfast house is built to look like the house on the tv show. Thanks for watching and commenting. We appreciate your support. Have a blessed week!

Thank you so much for the positive comment. We enjoyed our visit here to the Hamner House. I don't know for certain that the house will be closed but we are telling what we were told when we took the tour. The lady at the counter said that the house had been sold and the closing was taking place in January and that it was going to become a private residence. I do know that there was a for sale sign in the yard. Maybe the new owners will keep it open for tours. Time will tell. We enjoyed the Waltons tv show and this tour brought back memories for us. Right up the road from here is the museum but that was close for the season and will open back up in the spring. We are hoping to go here later on and take a tour of that.
