I always watch the Waltons, the show was a family staple on values and work ethic of by gone days. I have all the DVDs and my granddaughter watched when she was little ( now 16). Doing the Civil War re-enactment at Appomattox a few years back, I took her for a side trip to Schuyler . She was very much surprised at how small the house really was and all the children that lived in it. The museum was a trip down Walton memory lane. Now I see there is John and Olivia’s b & b across from it . Set the same way , wonderful experience.

Hello Fritzie and thank-you for visiting us and leaving a sweet comment. What a joy for you to share the Waltons TV shows with your granddaughter via the DVDs! It is wonderful that y'all were able to travel there while in the area. (Our family really enjoys visiting Appomattox, as well.) You mentioned the B & B so I wanted to post the link to our little tour of that house, as well. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aZOpp5By1MfYXZ8.html Maybe you and your granddaughter might go see it someday. Thanks again for visiting us here at Heritage Ways. ❤️katie

Wow. Lovely well-furnished home with many conveniences. This family definitely wasn't very poor during the depression as were so many rural and mountain and country and southern families. My parents were raised during the depression, and they always said that based on the TV show it seemed to be about a family who lived above the poverty of the depression. The Hamner family was very blessed and fortunate to have not become the suffering victims of that time period...people basically starved if they couldn't grow their own food...they sold all their belongings to buy what food they could get...children couldn't attend school because they had to work even at young ages, many very young boys worked in the coal mines and on logging crews. ...The Waltons TV show was very nice family entertainment during its time.

The Fans of the Countries which speak the French language, throughout the whole world, cry the disappearance of the FRENCH version of the series "The Waltons" (or "Walton's Mountain"), named: "La Famille des Collines" We kindly ask you to find the references of the rightsholders so that we can find a FR audio version as it was already available in the 1990s and, as soon as possible : to provide us with the means to buy the DVDs of this lovely series... to show it to our children. Please The values of the Walton family history, through the 9 seasons of your TV series, rocked my childhood, and I miss them deeply. Respectfully J. G. URS

No need to feel silly. The real family were the Hamners. Earl Hamner, Jr., is the creator of The Waltons, based on his life in the Blue Ridge Mts. in Schuyler, Virginia. The house in this video IS the actual house that he lived in with his parents and brothers and sisters (no grandparents). The schoolhouse across the road is now a museum dedicated to the Waltons TV show and the Hamners' lives. The house behind this one is a new one but it is called John and Olivia's Bed and Breakfast and is built very similarly to the TV Walton house. On this channel we have two more Waltons videos that fans might enjoy. I hope this helped and we are grateful for your visit to our video. ❤️katie
