Kind man. Met him in 2015 at Will Geer Topanga Canyon gathering. His wife was sick but he attended, and went by bus with us to the studio. I asked him if I could give him a hug. He said, "yes" and embraced me. Gave me a memory of a lifetime as I reflect now. Thank you for your tribute, Ms. Judy.

I have followed Tom's work for many years and he always gave a memorable performance. However, I did not know anything about his personal life, he was a husband of fifty one years until his wife passed away last August. He also stated that they never spent a night apart. My condolences to his children ,grandchildren and siblings. Judy, you created a bond with Tom that is a part of television history. RIP, Tom.

My family watched the Waltons faithfully every week when it aired in 1972 when I was a 13 year old teen. I must say this. There have been many good tv shows with very good actors on through the years. The Waltons however, were in a league of their own. While I enjoyed some of the other shows, I always knew in the back of my mind that I was watching a show and actors. With the Waltons, I truly lost myself each weeknight while watching a family's life in progress, learning so many good lessons along the way. Not one of you were less than gifted whose acting skills were so superb that I'd forget time after time that I wasn't being invited into your family home to observe all of you living life. I imagine many a good decision was made by many who watched the show based on what would Ma or Pa Walton do or how did John Boy or Mary Ellen handle that. That is a legacy worth cherishing and remembering.

I used to watch the Waltons with my grandmother who passed away in 1984, She used to say it was so realistic to the way it was during the depression, I've all these fond memories of her, and now I'm about to turn 62, her age of when the Walton's premiered.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I’ve always loved Mary & Curt’s relationship. It reminds me of my own with my husband. We are 8 years apart. I didn’t become a fan of The Waltons till about 18yrs ago or so. As I watched the series I was crushed when Curt passed away. I don’t cry easily and boy did that episode get me. It was like someone I knew and loved passed. He was an amazing actor.

When I first went to open this episode I was so excited because I thought you were interviewing Tom. I became very sad and immediately felt a sense of loss as one would with a family member. Although it's a very sad and tragic episode, it was so beautifully written and I feel captured what so many families must have been going through in the aftermath of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Judy, thank you for honoring Tom. I thought you might, I've been watching for this! Mary Ellen and Curt are my favorite Walton couple. There was something special about that feisty relationship! The Walton's is one of the few shows my 91-year old father will watch now, he loves the war years, plus he can follow the storyline. We are currently enjoying Season 6!

Sincere condolences to Tom’s family, loved ones, and his TV family. I was literally watching the Walton’s episode “The Grandchild” when I saw a post from Jon about Tom’s death. I was so sad. Curt’s character was one of my very favorites I found him so handsome and loved his relationship with Mary Ellen’s characters. I always thought it was a huge mistake to kill off his character found the show wasn’t the same afterwards as he brought character and a different kind of spin to the show. My favorite episodes are when Curt’s character was introduced and boy did he keep Mary Ellen on her toes. RIP Tom 😢

I didn't know Tom had passed away. How sad 😢 I met him in 2017, and he was such a nice, kind man. Rest in peace, Tom. ❤ He will always be the only Curt Willard as far as I'm concerned. 💕

I think up in heaven there's the Waltons kitchen table & all those who have passed are sitting around it, chatting, & laughing, telling stories, etc. "Do you remember the time. . . , I went to the studio. . ., Up in Fraser Park one time ..., I did a movie at Fox back in the day..." and so forth. There's Ralph at the head of the table with Will at the other end with Ellen next to Will grasping his hand. I see Ike & Cora Beth on one side with the Baldwin ladies next to them. On the other side of the table is Richard Gilliland & Morgan Stevens who are waving someone to the table to join in on the fun. It's Tom. He goes over and sits next to Richard & Morgan & all have huge grins on their faces. Tom shakes hands with the two as he maneuvers his legs into position in order to sit down on the bench at the table. All are greeting him & welcoming him. He is so happy as everyone is so joyful. I can hear Will laughing boisterously. Everyone 's talking at once. It's hard to hear what's being said over the din. How wonderful & joyful! Thanks for sharing, Judy. I know how hard this is for you, your castmates & most of all, for Tom's family. He truly left his mark on this world. 🙏🌹
