In this video, you will see where the cult classic was made. Up first is the opening credits, which is Fordham Road, Valentine Ave and Grand Concourse (The Baldies turf). This is the spot where the chase scene begins and goes to the next location of the tour, Kingsbridge Terrace (The Galasso Residence). Most of this movie was shot in and around The Bronx, NYC. After passing through that area, you will see the alley for the fist time since the movie. This is where Perry LaGuardia makes his first appearance and has the famed stand-off with Terror (Leave the kid alone). Following that scene is the school, Christopher Columbus High. Then it's back to the alley, this time for the meeting scene. Richie walks through calling on the members to come down from their apartments by way of the fire escapes, to join him. Next is the elbow game corner and then it’s back to the Galasso House for the party. Where Richie is caught in the back of the car and Joey gets heart broken. The JFK location was an interesting find along this tour, right on White Plains Rd. Last but not least is the Football Game location, which was filmed at Van Cortlandt Stadium. This is where that legendary brawl happens between The Wanderers, The Del Bombers, The Wongs, Joey's Father vs. The Ducky Boys.. Classic
Opening scene
-E Fordham Rd and Valentine Ave
Galasso House
-2744 Kingsbridge Tr
Christopher Columbus High
-925 Astor Ave
Corner Scene (Elbow ***** lol)
-Holland Ave and Lydia Ave
JFK Scene
-White Plains Rd and Bartholdi

I actually read somewhere ages ago that scene almost turned real because the director was sending the Ducky's at the wanderers in wave's but telling them to really slam into the wanderers an it got so physical that real punches were being thrown. Dunno if it's true but sounds legit. Also real ex Ducky's came to the shooting one day angered that they were being misrepresented they started making threats towards Wahl n co then they saw the guy who played terror walking towards them an promptly left lol.

i wasnt freaked out at all. What i remember about this from being a kid in the 80s (born in 78) was i thought this was an actual old flick instead of being as new as it was. I also thought the Warriors was older than it was. In the eyes of a mid 80s kid their 70s style was really dated

What an absolute treat! The Wanderers for me is a timeless, iconic film with so many quotable lines. I was part of a Rockabilly/Rock n Roll movement here in the U.K. that was kicking off around the same time, and being half Italian I was obviously a 'Wanderer'😉. As the film was set in the early 60's it was packed full of cool imagery....if you could just remove the 21st century 'blobby' cars and the shitty graffiti, you could shoot it again!! Thank you for doing this, Nick. "Wanderers forever!"

I am from Hamburg, Germany and I'm an absolute fan of this film since school days. In 2016 me and my wife made a trip through the Bronx, and we were following several original film locations of this movie. Some locations I didn't know back then, but after researching a little more there is a list of some more locations to go to. So I want to start a second trip to all remaing locations I haven't been at, yet. I want to thank you for some tips for my second round ! For example I thought the Kennedy assassin at TV scene was filmed at White Plains Raod & E 221st Street - but when I checked it on Google maps, I have to confess that your place is the right one with absolute no doubt. What I could not figure out even in your movie is the the exact location of the Alley (huntin scene / whistle and firestair climbing scene). Can you make this a little more accurate ? Is it an alley between Kruger & White Plains that ends at Pelham Parkway ? What we saw, in addition to the places you have been at, was St. Lucy's Grotto at Mace Ave. This is when Richie & Despie reunited as a couple and where she told him about beeing pregnant. It's just two blocks north and one block west from Chistoph Columbus Highschool. I hope that Corona will not prevent a US-Travel much longer so that we can plan our visit soon. Stay safe and all the best wishes , Stephan !

My brother played for the Red Raiders football team in 1982 they were 12-0 and played the Championship against the Road Runners, at that field. Road Runners won that game it was a Bronx/Yonkers Football league. I was at the Park several times in my life, it’s Van Cortland Park on the Broadway side. I had the best time growing up at that time and that area of the Bronx/Yonkers border. I grew up on the East side where Bronx River Road turns into Webster Ave. and M’Clean Ave, runs right over the 238th street bridge. The entrance to Van Cortland Park near that field is on the West side (Broadway) and the El Train is the #1. Where I grew up was where, after crossing over the bridge went up to White Plains Road and the #2 train. Last stop was 241st street on the border of Yonkers/Bronx/Mt. Vernon. Also loved all the localities you recorded! I’m familiar with every one!! Except I never went into the building court yard of the first Wanderer/Fordham Baldies confrontation. For historical record, if you’re interested, the Baldies were a real gang, however they weren’t bald lol they just called themselves the baldies. LEAVE. THE. KID. A-LONE! 😂😂

I'm English but the Wanderers just has to be the absolute best film from my youth!.. I was actually a sixteen year old music loving (sixties style) skinhead in 1979, when it came out, so youth culture was definitely my thing.. Also, as the film is set in 1963 - as per the assasination of JFK, as in the movie shown on the news in TV shop windows, shocked and heartbroken people gathering, at the same time Richie and Despie reunite - the film is also set in the year of my birth, making it even more a special, amazing, thing for me!! Loved it.. Still love it.. Always will.. All the very best, and, as per the sentiments of others below, lots of love from an English fella (who now actually lives in Chiang Mai, Thailand), and thanks so much very for this amazing then-and-now filming location look-back... x

I really can't tell you what watching this video made me feel. I was about 13 in 1981 when I saw the movie and its been a part of me ever since. I've often thought about those locations and whether they still existed and would be recognisable; I'd love to visit NY and see these hallowed grounds for myself, before the end. When you walked up those bleachers I swear I could hear Emilio growling 'sonsabitches' and wished with all my being that I could get out there and fight with them. I''ll never forget seeing Chubby Galasso dragging Despie away as the DB's began to swarm, exactly as a father would do. Thank you so much for making this, I truly appreciate it.

Hi, Jerry here - new sub too. I can't believe that this movie showed The Ducky Boys. Would you believe that I actually got in a small fight with them way back when? Well, I did, but there were only about five of them who said they were them. My friends abandoned me, but I kept on fighting with them and got in a few shots before I went down, but I wasn't really hurt too bad. I remember getting a detective to try and help me find them, but we drove and drove and couldn't. I always remembered their name, and it blows my mind that they were actually famous enough to be known so widely. I met someone near where I live that asked me if I remembered them, like wow. Then it was hard to believe, and now even more so. Anyway, thanks for this incredible upload showing the awesome work that you did to match the movie sets with the "current" way things look, well at least two years ago. I really appreciate all that you did to bring this all to us!! As for Christopher Columbus High School, yeah that was my school as well 😊
