God, it's SO cheesy but I love it uncontrollably. I am now my middle aged uncle, listening to Brothers in Arms, slamming down the M1 in his Volvo and I am utterly unashamed.

I think that what passes for "rock" and "pop" today is what's cheesy. These guys have the recipe for real music - and not a bit of it cheesy. And they by definition are not "dad rock". Dad rock is the actual rock that dad listened to. The War on Drugs is obviously heavily influenced by dad rock - and thank God for that - but they aren't dad rock, unless they were around 40+ years ago.

@@ThePubliusValerius i'm 46 and listen to black sabbath, srv, old metallica, nirvana, slayer, dio.........they were all around 40+ years ago. is that considered dad rock? i'm serious b/c i rly dont know what they mean by dad rock? i would think its stuff like the doobie brothers, bachman turner overdrive, maybe acdc??

@@jim_dove not only politicians! a lot of ordinary russians tolerate the war in Ukraine and occupation of Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea and ready to kill ukrainians on their own lands! even after you go away from all lands of Ukraine you occupied and pay reparations I don't think we will be able to shake hands soon

There’s a difference between being influenced, consciously or unconsciously, by other musicians and ‘ripping off’. What is your evidence of TWOD ripping off Dylan, Young and Hawley and,hey, why not add Springsteen, Petty and a host of others while you’re at it? All the best modern musicians and songwriters acknowledge honestly and intelligently their debt to the greats from the early 1900’s, in and across the various genres as they evolved. Your comment is facile and unintelligent and will be seen as unjustified and unworthy by those who appreciate good music. And TWOD is very good, as attested by all the other comments posted.
