I HAD alpha gal. My allergist said that after being bitten by a tick a few years ago I had tested positive for that frustrating illness. I was tested again this past Spring and apparently I no longer test positive for it. I have tested my new found freedom and have had no problems. PRAISE GOD! My doctor says I'm in remission. He speculated that he tick may no have been attached for a long period of time and with my total absence of mammal products may have helped my body heal itself. I ate poultry and fish and a ton of veggies. Good luck in your journey. I pray you find remission as well.

Instead of moving the birds every morning, you can train them to go inside the house at night and close the sliding door to keep them inside and safe. It should be warm enough at night that they shouldn't need the heat lamp.

If you move the birds coop to a new spot every couple days they will have more to eat and they will help fertilize the grass.❤❤❤

Go to Starbucks and ask for the used coffee, spread it out on a tarp and let it dry in the sun. It’s a fantastic coop litter option and I’m very blessed to have a daughter who works at SB and brings me boxes of spent grounds!

The birds all look to be fully feathered now so they should be fine without heat. You could leave them in the coop now. Good luck with the Alpha gal. It's nothing to take lightly. A friend of mine has it and has to be super careful about what she eats because she can go into anaphylactic shock.

I wasn't going to comment, but after the short term memory loss statement, I couldn't pass up sharing what I put on Grandpas video earlier. My family thinks I have lost my mind. Opossums and raccoons kept getting my chickens and ducks. I am ordering electric fence. But in the meantime, I put a huge dog kennel in my spare bedroom, and all I have to do is open the door and say bedtime. And in the morning, it's a parade straight to the front door. That includes spoiled turkey. He's following the crowd.

Now that the birds are a little bigger, you might try elevating their water and food up on a board or brick. It will keep the shaving out.

If you get a collar for Herc, get one that beeps too. I use one for my dogs and they get a beep first and if they don't respond then a shock. After a few shocks, then a beep works every time. Also if you make a hardware cloth covered platform for the food and water it will keep the water and food clean longer.

Spruce is getting so big, not a little boy anymore! You know you guys have happy goats when they start wagging their tails, your animals are well-loved. I love my guineas, have had them for 3 years, and knock on wood, no tick issues since we got them, the noise outways no ticks!

If your goats or dogs get into poison ivy remember not to pet them afterwards since it transfers to you. Your dad reminded Matt of this when the dogs were in the poison ivy.

I seen a chicken coop like yours and they put wheels on one end that they can move and lock into place and a handle on the other end, and makes the coop portable to move around your area, just drop the wheels when they have the area they want the chickens to feed on. I think Walker Farm Family has one. just FYI. Hugs

If Spruce gets as big as his daddy, you will have a guard goat. He can run free and keep small predators at bay. I love how he wags that tail when you all talk to him. It's too cute. The sounds the little birds make now are awesome. I love the chirps. They are getting used to you. If you can, move your bird cage around in the yard. It will give them fresh grass and fertilize the grass. Glad you are feeling better, Kyle.

Shanon, call a local coffee shop and ask them to save their coffee grounds for you. They don't need to be decaffeinated, as you mentioned. Jason at Cog Hill uses coffee grounds in their coops. You could ask where he gets them. Coffee grounds are great for your compost, too...adds nitrogen, is considered "green".

Trimming the low branches on the trees and keeping the underbrush mowed down will go a long way towards mitigating the tick pressure. You don't have nearly enough goats and guineas to handle the job. Just clean the rest of the property like you did the front and you should be fairly safe. Best of luck! Ticks suck.

You can set the bird feeders up on a brick or something, because the poults and keets are taller. That will keep the wood shavings out of the feeder. It's just easier on you, and less feed waste. I am proud of how well you are doing with the birds. I love guineas!

My vet recommended the same probiotic for my dog. I found that Amazon is the cheapest for the probiotic. The animals are doing so good. I love Spruce is going to be like his dad a very big boy.

About the coffee grounds, a lot of the coffee places like Starbucks or whoever is nearest y'all, will give the spent coffee grounds if you provide them buckets with you name on them. Some homesteaders get them for their gardens or compost piles. You might check on that.

Coarse sand/river pebble is the easiest to keep clean for chickens. You can use a "sand flea" shovel, which is like a giant cat litter scoop. The coffee grounds are more like a deoderizer than a bedding.

Hi Guys....Starbucks and other coffee shops will collect the spent grounds and give them to you if you ask them. My local shop does this for me for my garden. You just have to stop by and pick them up every week or so. You may have to provide a bucket for them to use. Good luck.

Pegboard workbench and some shelves when you get the brooder out will help in your shop it’s really nice I love it❤things just take time y’all will get it how you want hang in there. Hey y'all! My daughter has the same thing you have. However, she can eat pork and dairy. She makes hamburgers with ground chicken, chili, onion, and garlic powder. Hope this helps! 🙂

So great to see Spruce not being bothered by the banding. He's grown so much. I hope Herc gets over his fence experience soon. Used coffee grounds are great for composting and burning them in an outside fire helps repel mosquitoes.

I can remember my grandfather had a lot of guineas and when we would drive down the path they would be making so much noise and they would be coming out of the trees. With the noise they make ,they make a good alarms. Love spruce.

Actually, Shanon. I was a Manager at a McDonald’s in NC - you CAN go to a local (small town) McDonald’s and ask for it. We had a worm farmer that we would give the spent grounds to! It’s worth a try!!!

Hang the water, if you get it off the ground just a little you won't have all the shavings or dirt in the water, Also put the food on a board or something just to get it off the ground just a little and as with the water you won't have all that stuff in the food !😊

Try soaking cashews overnight in filtered water then blend with salt & garlic to make a creamy sauce. Spice it as you wish but you will definitely get a creamy sauce. Dilute with water or chicken broth to get a creamy sauce that will coat your noodles nicely.

Yes, l've seen many vegan recipes using raw cashews and soaked in filtered water blended into a cream like sauce. Look some up on internet. Haven't tried any yet but copied a few and intend to try myself so l can cut down on dairy. Good luck 🤞

With the coffee ground bedding, have a chat with Jason and Brooke at Cog Hill Farm. I remember them using it once and I don't think they liked it too much but they will know where to get it.

You can also use wood bedding pellets for the birds liquid turns the pellets to sawdust. I use it for cat litter.

The shock collar is great and I’ve seen a lot of training and success with it. It’s used to train the dogs in town/city to not bark or just bark for a short time. I think it’s a good thing that Herc got a good shock, but he’s likely to learn sooner. Don’t sympathize with him too much - it’s just a learning process. Great videos

I am praying for you to have a full recovery and can enjoy all your favorite foods soon. I have a friend who had the rocky mtn spotted fever for a bit. She is doing well now. For a while she looked so worn out and exhausted and had poor color. It was scary. I have laying hens in my back yard. They eat nasty ticks as well. I wish fleas were on the menu, but am pretty sure that's not a possibility. I love my laying hens. I have one that has to be cuddled a bit everyday. They are spoiled almost as much as Grandpa Adlers girls are. Love that little Spruce guy!

Appreciate that you are helping to keep others informed. Just a suggestion at Walmart they carry over in center frozen section "Butterball Seasoned Turkey burgers" they are fantastic and have great flavor. Just make sure it says seasoned and I think there are 6 in a package which is blue the way. You keep them frozen until you're ready to cook. I'm also very picky on my hamburger flavor,but these are really good. Hope you will give them a try. Second question can you eat Italian sausage?? If so it's a great way to make spaghetti, or can you eat pasta? ?? Either way I wish you the best and you two are doing awesome job of learning how to live in different surroundings. Kyle & Shannon have you ever thought about putting ( inexpensive vinyl floor) on the goats floor in their shelter? Moisture can’t penetrate like it would on the wood floor and nothing will really stick to it. (It can be washed out and be replaced if needed. Just nail or staple for easy removal.)

When I was researching chicken coops, I read that a perch should not be square. Their little chicken feet grip a round perch best.

Try going to coffee cafes, busy gas stations and convenience stores. They may be willing to give you the used coffee grounds.

horse pellets also are great for smell we use a layer of that under our wood chips for our chickens it helps dehydrate everything we get them at tractor supply
