The way they top of the blade is designed it looks like Dunes of sand coming together when the light plays on it. The cut outs seem like caverns in stone like a Seitch. All of it tied together with the gold like the Spice Malange... Absolutely beautiful knife with a beautiful tie in to my favorite set of stories ever told.

Elijah was one of the most interesting designers. Shame that he's gone. The name was the first thing that drew me about this model, and I was intrigued by the design but wanted to check out a review to make sure it is also a good knife.

Hi Nick! Question: do you think this knife will make a positive impression as a gift for a non-knife person or too scary? I was thinking to get it for a good friend whom I dont see too often, he definitely knows Dune thing and would appreciate the reference but knife wise I am not sure. Yea it is expensive but I'm ok to pay this price for this special occasion.
@mickkeim41425 жыл бұрын
I think I like this knife...but I’m not sure. I did purchase the Pleroma and except for the price, I think it is a very cool knife, even if I may be dating myself. It looks great and has been very useable as an EDC although, I find myself babying it a little. I agree with you, that the price seems a bit jacked up, but what do I know? I’m just a beat up old brick layer having fun collecting knives. I think it may be a thing of beauty but I may have to wait a while to purchase. I wonder how long they will keep it in production. Or do you think they will go forward with a #II, or even an Arrakis 3?
@aszrael12664 жыл бұрын
I agree with you whole hardheartedly. The arrakis is one of the most expensive knives I have ever bought. Just looking at it sealed the deal. The styling of it is right up my ally. As for it being used as a daily knife yeah there are way better options that wont break the bank.

Love my Arrakis, though I have the blue/bronze one. Don't agree about the ergos, ergonomically it really works for me at the very least, fits my hand well especially in that choke up grip. Also I like the pocket clip? Lots of the time when Nick talks about stuff on knives I already have I nod along and agree, but I really have never had any sort of problem with the clip, slides right into my pocket no trouble and looks nice and discreet (mine isn't yellow...).

This is a case of form over function. Great for cosplay folks maybe . This space Invader style was perfected in the ZT777 which was unavailable immediately. After handling one it had none of the issues covered here. Kind of a crud collector art knife with a blade that seems halfway to serving the purpose a knife should perform. Hang on a wall. Put it in a glass case. Whatever.

I have this knife. It is an art piece, but the knife does an amazing job at making an art piece actually function as a knife. I think it is very ergonomic and it does actually cut well. After carrying this knife, the worst aspect of this knife is the sharp rear end that sticks out of the pocket. That is the main thing that keeps this from being a joy to carry. IMHO

@darrinj79082 жыл бұрын
Beautiful knife - there is no doubt about that. Love the way it looks and and the name is cool. Yes - just an art knife not a functional everyday knife. It is a display knife and a show off knife. I would never use a $330 knife to cut bands and boxes and etc. I have a $20 knife that has a special groove with a hidden blade to cut thick string and bands. It also has a metal point on the end that can shatter car windows if a persin or animal is trapped in a car. It has a very sharp blade also and has not dulled in 5 years that I've had it and i use it a lot. This is a functional everyday blade. Like I said the Arrakis is a sweet looking knife but not a practical one. But like it's being said it is an art knife. I wouldn't mind having one to just show it off lol. But no way would I spend $330 on a knife. They should make an affordable one with the same design but silver and black or a camo one for everyday use. Maybe for $75 or a bit lower. Still it's a beautiful looking knife.

I still don't understand Isham's designs. I respect that he has a consistent design language that apparently appeals to a certain niche. I just don't get it. All of his knives look like cheap props from low-budget sci-fi movies to me. Once you get into the details of them, they're very intricate and the details are really nice. He's certainly doing great work in that regard. But I still don't see the appeal in the overall aesthetic.

I've been on the fence many times on both the Eschaton and the Arrakis, but I need something a bit more practical. I love thin full ground blades. You have to money to use expensive steel anyway with these kinda knives, so why make it thick behind the blade? Nobody is gonna use this in a hard use scenario anyway. Give me an art slicer knife.

Don't like his designs. They are just art knives foe people who like ugly things. M390 is great but we knives doesn't do anything special and doesn't take it to an acceptable level for M390. It's just average. There m390 is going to perform much like s35vn. So why even use it? Unless it's just to sell knives because it's popular. I wish Isham stuck with brous... Where weird designs is normal. The market doesn't need this kind of stuff. We need real knives. Not imagination.
