The Wedge is an easy double crochet shawl with an interesting shape designed to use one cake of Caron Colorama Halo Perfect Phasing bulky weight yarn.

Skills needed: chain and double crochet in US terms.
Yarn: Bulky weight (category 5): 481 yards (440 m)
1 skein of Caron Colorama Halo yarn (71% acrylic, 18% nylon, 11% polyester; 481 yards (440 m) per 227-gram skein). The sample shawl used 1 skein of Caron Colorama Halo yarn in the Orchid Frost colorway.
Hook: 10 mm
Finished size: About 70 inches long and 46 inches wide at the widest point (178 cm by 117 cm)
Pattern Notes
The shawl is worked in rows of double crochet stitches in US terms, increasing by one stitch per row. Work two stitches into the first stitch of each row, then one double crochet in each stitch across the row. Row 1 has 1 double crochet stitch, Row 2 has 2 stitches, Row 3 has 3 stitches...Row 73 has 73 double crochet stitches.

I got this yarn on sale (the orange and purple gradient version) and it's perfect for a friend of mine, but I didn't know what to make with it. Found you on Ravelry by looking up the yarn. I've never crocheted a piece of clothing before and I had to go out and buy a size 10 special for this on my lunch break. Wish me luck!!

Update: Took a million tries to get the tip to look like a triangle but I'm there! But. I tend to stitch pretty tightly, and I think mine so far looks more like the grey version at 2:32. So let's undo it and start again! I did plan for this and bought an 11.5 :P

Update: It's finished!! I've committed to making another for my mom. I had to switch back to the 10mm to finish the row since I was just shy. After fastening off, it actually came undone (I didn't weave in ends, but also, I wanted to make sure the knot would be secure) - I had to troubleshoot, watched some knot tutorials, and slathered the joining knot (since i'd cut it prematurely) in fabric glue, since this specific yarn seems kind of slippery. But! It isn't visible and I just want to make sure it won't fall apart lol.

Yes!! I first heard Phish in the mid 90s when I was waiting in the Ticketmaster line to buy tickets for a different band. Phish tix went on sale the same day and the Phish fans were such a fun crowd that I was intrigued. My husband is a deadhead and a big Phish fan too. Thank you 💗

@prettypeacefulcrochet I live in Arkansas.,but I'm originally from Ohio and I so miss the snow! It's pretty quite where I am also,but I like it that way.i was raised on dairy farm and have worked my whole life outside.i love it! And I love the cold ,and snow.when I was younger I wanted to live in Alaska off the grid. But never made it. So your home looks wonderful ! You are so blessed! God loves you and so do I. Thanks! I get a lot of splitting with Caron Simply Soft and Caron One Pound, but this yarn is totally different. It’s an acrylic/nylon/polyester blend and it has not split on me at all. It’s really lovely.
