Dirt to Daytona is another game from that early 2000s era that was incredible at the time, and still holds up well to this day.

shame it's pretty buggy at times. I've had trucks at martinsville pull the everyone stops and crashes. stuff that can cripple you in career mode.

I know people won’t like to admit it but nascar heat 3-5 are modern day versions of that game, with similar physics and graphics. NASCAR heat evolution even had the same engine noise

Even though it is years outdated with drivers, Heat 4 is still doing me amazing! the online is pretty hit or miss, but the single player/career is still good, with the AI being amazing, with superspeedway racing being arguably the best it ever has been

Personally I feel like we have hit a brick wall in NASCAR games and unless Rivals blows the market out of the water I think if I was NASCAR I'd break all ties to Motorsport games and go to Monster games again. They have done wonderfully with the heat series and have been making NASCAR games since late 90s early 2000s so they know what they are doing and what the player wants and now with the backing of Iracing I think they can release a great NASCAR game especially if they implement the same mechanics as like SRX which is one of the best racing games to come out recently.

Iracing bought monster games so it really wouldn’t be much if a licensing issue on the PC side, but I think that the contract is binding for consoles so it would require a buy-out of some kind

After watching Austin Ogonoski’s video, I think I finally know why NASCAR 21 has been a train wreck. MSG has been outsourcing development to a team that doesn’t even know anything about NASCAR. If you want a great new NASCAR game, you need a team that is dedicated to the sport and game development. There are plenty of game developers that love NASCAR or motorsports in general. We need people like them developing NASCAR games instead of cheap foreign labor.

There's a lot missing from NASCAR Rivals from what I've seen. The AI race poorly at some tracks, there is no pit crew animation, and random UI errors.

I’m playing Nascar racing games on ps1, ps2 , ps3. I would love to see a Nascar game where we can hire a driver we want from cup or xfinity or trucks, or a driver that’s a free agent. Kinda like the 2k games. Career mode moving up from arca to truck to xfinity to cup. Or just going straight into a championship season in which series you enjoy.

World of outlaws game has Career mode like this where you can hire driver race in lower disvisons 16 real world tracks 7 different cars with 8th coming as dlc highly recommend it. Game play amazing. Feels like old ea sports nascar games

The fact they’re releasing a 2022 update to Heat 5, personally I hope they add the 2021 schemes as well, should just show you the state that NASCAR games are in today. In my honest opinion, they should release a game every 2-3 years and then for the years they don’t release a main game, just update the previous one with roster updates. I’m also excited for NASCAR Rivals and can’t wait for it to release next week!

What confused me about NASCAR Heat Ultimate on switch last year was how bad the graphics were. The Nintendo Switch is capable of handling Heat 5 graphics and it seems like NASCAR Rivals is alot closer to that graphics wise.

I'm still very much disappointed that the 2022 season stuff isn't going to be in NASCAR heat ultimate edition (NASCAR heat 5 on the switch, with all the DLC) because heat five on other consoles is going to get the 2022 season stuff, but not on the switch because you got to get rivals.

Personally I won't buy another Nascar game until they do the following. 1: Full livery editor for on and offline use. 2: Career mode team management where you can buy additional charters or if it's not cup, just vehicles and hire available drivers to race them as AI while you pilot your own ride. 3: Variant AI learning. Maybe the pit man you hired started out strong but their skills build super slowly or cap out at some point. Maybe the guy who was cheap and slow turns into a god tier pit chief by season 3. New AI drivers growing their skills and driving styles. Adapting to the tracks. Etc. 4: Actual crash physics and full destruction capability. Get those 4 things and I'll throw even as much as $150 for a PC version.

Man, I hate that no one is bringing up the HUGE NASCAR community that was on the Gran Turismo series (entries 5 and 6). Honestly, everyone that grew up playing Thunder was hanging on GT5 and 6 running Leagues and Races all the time. As far as online racing capability goes, that was the best thing going on in consoles in the 2010s in my opinion

Ignition would have been a good game at this point if they didn't bungle up the AI. The AI was actually taken from RFactor 2 and while the game is still getting consistent updates, especially to its AI, the AI is visibly worse on oval and other tracks which don't have many turns or turns that lead into each other. This is why the AI in Ignition is a lot better while driving tracks like COTA compared to Daytona or Texas.

Any time I think they will fix ignition it somehow gets worse and the fact there’s still no mirror and the ai is messed up also no career mode for 22 really breaks it for me I see some improvements but we’re a year in and it’s still pretty bad

Long time sim racer here from the original days of nascar heat,NR and NSR. I still run full season retro sims of nascar seasons and my favorite feature that is the most basic adjustment on NR2003 and all sports games have is the ability to edit driver ratings. This would make nascar heat 5 so much better if you could make sure Cody ware isn't contending for wins. The adjustability on NR leads to endless possibilities. Somehow though no matter what I do I cannot bring home Dael his 8th championship

My son and I prefer Nascar Thunder 2003. But my Xbox started overheating... Wish the had a rerelease with modern graphics on the Xbox One. That would be awesome. I'm not into PC gaming, but that game would be the first one to buy and mod.

I still play Nascar dirt to Daytona and Nascar 2005 Chase for the Cup both on PS2 . Every once in a while I pop in ‘08 and ‘’09 on PS2 to mix it up.I haven’t bought a new nascar game since ‘13 on PS3. I feel like I wouldn’t even know where to jump back into at this point. I have a switch so I might check out rivals at some point. I’ll definitely wait for reviews.

rFactor 1 and 2 are also good options for NASCAR, along with the sister game ARCA Sim Racing. Fans of the Xtreme Dirt Tour will find plenty of Dirt Oval mods.

So about the NH5 patch... According to ex-employees and a leaked shareholders call, Motorsports Games and their parent company are on the verge of filing for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy and losing all their licenses as of almost 2 months ago

The parent company is Motorsport Network which is doing fine financially and they actually just gave an additional $100 million to fund Motorsports Games for the next year.

Just give me the career mode of Dirt To Daytona with all of the badass unlockable content, legendary challenges, and car customization of Thunder 2003. It’s such an easy thing to not fuck up. Yet here we are. I WILL pay $70 for a perfect NASCAR game with all of these features. also there was an awesome bug in DTD (at least on GameCube) where if you got just the right kind and amount of body damage, your car would top out at well over 230mph at Daytona and Talladega and you’d just fly across the track setting insane lap times. It was hilarious and awesome. God I miss that game.

Even though the recent NASCAR games have not been good, at least NASCAR has had games in recent years, unlike Indycar which hasn't had a dedicated video game in over 15 years with Indycar Series 2005 being the last Indycar game to date. I don't count the inclusion of Indycar in games such as Forza Motorsport & Project Cars as Indycar games because those games only included a small number of drivers, cars & tracks from the series & didn't offer the player the full Indycar experience.

Just raced at Fontana in Ignition in my created car. Champion difficulty. I was the only one who pitted at the end of stage 2, fuckin MAULED the field on fresh tires during stage 3, 2nd place was 8.3 seconds behind me up until I was leading on the white flag lap, then they shat the bed and pitted on the last lap and started wrecking. I didn't even get to TAKE the checkered flag. Caution came out on the straightaway. PAIN.

Nascar rivals is just a updated heat game..same speedometer and track map and overall graphics show it…which isn’t a bad thing as long as it’s fun and has some depth…and it actually works….

It is astounding how the Roblox engine is in a state of mass-potential. I miss 2004 or which ever one had all those fantasy tracks on PS2, those were good times. But damn. Games do be suckin' ass. Baaaaah.

Based on the little ignition I played I found that the physics was better than heat, the graphics and presentation is on another level, and they actually have a paint booth. It’s a shame there’s still all the bugs.

I can’t wait for the 2022 Heat 5 pack, Ik people criticized Heat a lot but I loved Heat 5 and still play online daily (I think I’m up to like 2000 online races atp) it’s just a blast and the online community is still very active and fun

I've heard and seen that Cota, Bristol Dirt, Nashville, and Atlanta all suck on the switch because they are the new tracks where Motorsports games couldn't copy the coding for.

We always focus on the big issues of ignition but even the small details are messed up. The career mode standings are messed up. I alway have like 60 drivers in the standings with many duplicates. The manufacturer championship doesn’t even count right, it takes average points of the manufacturers instead of the true way it’s scored

Right now, seems like the best place to go for NASCAR gaming is iRacing? Although that's not a mass-market game like Rivals and Thunder, I guess. But NASCAR seems to be putting a lot of push behind their involvement in iRacing instead of the console games.

Can someone explain to me how Nascar thunder can have better graphics, more wreck animations, better drafting and just a way better experience overall in 2003 compared to a game in 2022...that absolutely boggles my mind, how the hell can game creators not figure out what they did in 2003...🤦‍♂️ Video games are just dying in general because of this, no one puts in effort anymore.

The state of NASCAR Video Gaming right now is just sad. I haven’t bought a NASCAR Game in 3 years. The last one I bought was Heat 4. Just a sad state of affairs for NASCAR Gaming in general right now.

It is really a shame that there is no truly awesome NASCAR game because I’ve always found oval racing games to be one of the best ways for people of different skill levels to compete in a fun way. Road and street circuits amplify skill differences in a way that ovals don’t, often to a fault. As much skill as it takes to race on ovals the actual gap between good players and decent players rarely ends up being more than a second or so per lap. Racing with a less experienced player can still be a lot of fun with little lifts or when driving from behind trying to make an over take. My best friend and I have spent a lot of time bumper to bumper and door to door on ovals despite the fact that I have literally hundreds of more hours spent on racing games than him.

NR2003 was one of the better ones. Thankfully it lives on to this day via iRacing. Switched to iRacing some time ago and never looked back.

Found NR2003 over Covid. No looking back for me. I mean yes it doesn’t have quite the game play and a career mode but honestly if you’re willing to put in a little elbow grease. It can be just as fun if not more! I don’t think Nascar gaming will get better. It may improve in some areas but it will never be like it was with Thunder 2004.
