The main reason for the inclusion of the clock is that these devices were made using similar hardware to that of digital watches and cheap pocket calculators. The processor and screen were both comparable to digital watches of the era.

It must be a Long Island thing. I believe Colin Moriarty is from Long Island and pronounces it “Mary-o” too. They also both say “Thank you” with a “th” pronounced like “that” instead of like “thought” the way everyone else in the universe who speaks English do!

I was so worried I wouldn't be able to find one so I rushed to Target when I heard they got them in. They had like 50 of them which is good, I was worried Nintendo would only give stores like 5 like back with Amiibo and the NES Classic. As for the device itself, I absolutely love it.

I think a lot of people didn’t even realize this was coming out until KZfaqrs started putting out there reviews a few days ago. Nintendo pushed the Amiibos HARD for months before they were released, so the hype was intense!

I really want this because I didn’t even know I missed out on the Game & Watch until I started watching your videos 😅 I think it’s super fun, even though I would definitely play it a couple times then it would just hang out in a drawer with my 3DSs 😞 at least until I have a good place to display it with my Lego NES!

Fun nerdy fact, this would be the first single-screen Game&Watch to have D-pad. Only dual-screen Game&Watches had D-pad. Original single-screen devices had four directional buttons.

@2:33 thankyou so much for the protips here. I got given one as a gift and there's no dang booklet or anything like that, it seems like you just need to stumble across the secrets/features. Here's one I haven't seen mentioned before that I've noticed, if you press a + b on the clock screen it flashes the time yellow and red. Pretty lame but W/E lol

If it was a style choice, it could be because Ball did not have a kickstand. Oddly, the size of the device is pretty close to the Widescreen Series which is when the kickstand started.

Lots of Easter eggs in this game. Hold the A button down for 5 seconds( in watch mode) and you get the "Mario Drawing song" plus infinite lives for all games in game mode

The entire song could be misconstrued into a tutorial for drawing something else. The fact that we also get step-by-step images proves that some people needed visual guidance to avoid confusion. XD

Can you do a vid on the very minimum system requirements you need to run a high quality youtube gaming channel (with 1080p webcam and green screen) on Windows or Mac please? There are lots of places you can get the peripherals for a lower price but it all boils down to the computer / processor / ram etc.. Big fan of your vids! Keep up the good work!

They didn't include the ability to update over USB because it would mean licensing the chip that's inside that debug probe to be added on the board itself. It's not usually worth it for something that isn't meant to be upgraded in any way. That's why the SEGGER external debugger was used - it isn't possible to wire it to USB and have it just work.

So funny reasoning for me... When I was introduced to Smash Melee at a very young age, I grew a weird attachment to Mr. Game and Watch. I've played all 4 Game and Watch Galleries but never actually owned a Game and Watch. Needless to say this 20yo was hopping like a 5yo when it was announced and jumped to pre-order when I had the chance. lol

I like it, I think it's nostalgically pleasing. I'll be curious as to how hobbyists will tinker with the internals. Even if you have to open it with little memory, I have a feeling you are going to see this thing do much more than play mario in the future.

I love that Game&Watch. Principally, reminds me when I was a kid playing Super Mario Bros in PS1 and a GameBoy Advance SP… really good memories for me, it’s something nostalgic in my mind. I bought for $41.95 by Amazon. And the design is so cute. ❤

I bought one because it hit me right in those nostalgia feels. It is a great quality for what it is, yes it is expensive, but it is a collectors thing and for that i'm willing to shell out just a lil bit more than i otherwise would. I went back and forth on picking it up or not and when i saw it on the shelves in the local Target i just had to.

I really love the new Game & Watch and i do enjoy the little rubber A+B buttons. I see how they are proned to wear & tear, but the additional grip i get let's me run thru the levels like i never did before. The device is much wider than the GBA SP and it's so leightweight, that i can't wrap my head around the idea that it used to need a CRT TV and a shoebox-sized computer to run. But i agree, the $50 would be much easier to spend, if they'd included the GB Super Mario Land, or the option to upgrade the firmware. But Nintendo made me forget about my Switch and my 3DS for a few days, didn't even think about playing something on there. The G&W broke my daily cycle :D

It looks really cool. If I could easily hack it and turn it into a little portable NES that'd be awesome. Though yeah, I can easily do that with pretty much any phone or countless mini emulation devices out there.
