I just finished the translation of the Wendigo (By Algernoon Blackwood) into Brazilian Portuguese, it's was my first translation job, I hope I did a great one, as the book deserves it, the story is amazing.

I love how you did Ithaqua and the windigoes in the Cthulhu Mythos sourcebook for Pathfinder, where they were essentially a cross between a ever-worsening natural disaster and a savage horde of cannibal barbarians and monsters.

The Wendigo was my first contact with the Mythos, even if technically, it's not a Mythos tale. Blackwood was a great writer and had an AWESOME villain name.

Thank you for explaining to people that you, Sandy Peterson, the guy who literally made Call of Cthulhu the tabletop role pen & paper playing game, believe that the idea of using Lovecraft, and only Lovecraft in a CoC game is just ridiculous.

the VERY FIRST ADVENTURE I ever did, The Haunting, has an undead creature that never appeared in Lovecraft.

Please check out "Black Mountain Side", an excellent Canadian movie from 2016. I believe it's a take on the Wendigo legend.

There's a horror video game in the sort of interactive movie vein released a while back which features wendigos - *Until Dawn*. That there are wendigos would count as a slight story spoiler, I suppose, but it's old enough now. In any case, it's a choose-your-own-adventure with horror movie trope dumb twenty-somethings, so it's pretty entertaining to watch someone else play badly on purpose for maximum disaster. Sometimes grating with motion capture of real b-movie actors, but pretty atmospheric for all that.

I'm pretty sure every member of the Donner party was at risk of becoming a Wendigo. Not sure what the "infection" rate is for involuntary cannibals. It probably helped that they didn't actually kill people to eat them - just ate them.

Sorry Sandy it's absolutely a part of Native American folklore and has been for a terribly long time. You are usually great on your research. I read *The Wendigo* when I was a kid and was creeped out. As an adult I found out about the actual Wendigo legend and realized that somehow I had known all along that it was about cannibalism and cabin fever. Blackwood was a genius.
