You know, it's a pretty fuckin good thing that *someone* is on that island with Zoro. Especially since that someone seems to be warming up to him. Because I know for a damn fact, that if he was alone on that island, we'd need a new swordsman on the crew. Ain't no way he's finding his way back to everyone else, even with the vivre card. Also, I can't get enough of Heracles. The man's the perfect comedic relief, and I wouldn't mind a spinoff series about him.

If things seem a bit confusing it's because these stories are based on one page cover stories that happen before the start of the actual chapter in the manga. They expanded these cover stories into full episodes. Basically just think of these episodes as filler.

Definitely brace yourself for the Marineford arc, it's a roller coaster of emotions and it starts with a bang. There is a reason why this arc is considered the best arc of the series, including those that came after.

If you're thinking those Long Arm guys look familiar, remember one of the 11 Supernovas, Scratchmen Apoo is a member of that race. The Future island could help Franky since it has advanced technology, and Vegapunk used to work here. As for Sanji, I wouldn't put too much stock into it. As someone pointed out, these episodes we're seeing are anime-only material based on a few scenes from the manga and is just filler.

I will say that the one thing I don't like about the Crunchy subs is the translation inaccuracies. You maybe noticed that 'okama' was accurately translated as 'transvestites' in the non-Crunchy subs, whereas for whatever reason Crunchy chooses to use a word that has nothing to do with that group. It's one of the many inaccuracies that Crunchyroll's subtitles has when it comes to accuracy, which kinda sucks because sometimes they're so off the mark they end up messing up context clues and foreshadowing.

The best response to Sanji's story is probably to just blink a few times and never think about it again. Bon Clay and Ivankov are awesome characters, but the portrayal of the Newkama island is uh ... unfortunate?

The real unfortunate thing would be equating okamas of japanese culture with modern (largely western) trans people. They are fundamentally different and comparing them will bring nothing but headaches & confusion if you don't know the differences

It's not the island of newkama. It's the island of Okkama. Okkama are Drag Queens while NewKama are are Trans. The word Okkama in Japanese means Queer Man. Bon Clay is Okkama and Many of the revolutionary army are Newkama. The newkama use NeoPronouns (ivankov uses NeoPronouns in Japanese that don't translate well) or switch pronouns and gender completely. (Like the fire/ice person) Okkama usually use male pronouns. Oda's close friend is a drag queen performer and him most of his real life experience with queer people is through caberet. Well I definitely agree that it's still problematic in a modern context especially with modern transphobia being so prevalent. I still think that people seriously misinterpret this whole section. First off, I don't think that the Okkama where ever trying to be harmful to Sanji in any way nor is it being portrayed like that at all. They clearly said that they do this to new Okkama who haven't accepted themselves. They simply thought that since he came to the island he must therefore be queer and simply never help coming out of his shell. It was just a misunderstanding, I don't know why people portray it as some kind of abuse. The Okkama I have no reference for straight people traveling all the way to their hidden Island. They would have likely had to come there on purpose.
