Can’t tell you how much more enjoyable a theory video is when you take the “this is why this doesn’t make sense” approach. It gives so much weight to the speculation and makes the dots that DO connect feel so much more significant. Shows your love for not just HxH, but the art of storytelling as a whole. There are some hints in the Phantom Troupe flashbacks that point to Chrollo, while being raised in meteor city, he was not born there and is not originally from there, but was brought there as a child or a baby.

I like the last part where it's pointed out how every poverty scene is the same, meaning that it's pretty much equally likely for Gyro to be Queen Oito's brother as it is for Chrollo to be.

I really like the idea that Liam saw that painting of the blimp guy on first read, came up with this funny idea of him having the painting commissioned in a single day and sent to all of his wives, and then Liam has been furiously seeking for a place to hamfist the idea into a video ever since.

That situation about saving the baby or the eyes reminded me of one test they all passed during the HxH test, about choosing to save the mother or wife... And Gon is the only one who takes that into consideration...

I don't really think it would play a huge role even if it were fact. Yeah sure,it'd be poetic and all with Kurapike saving the family of the dude who killed his family. But I don't see it impacting any of the characters in the story. I imagine neither Chrollo nor Oito would have second thoughts about killing each other should the situation call for it.

By now I'm sure Togashi must be watching this channel for inspiration when wondering where to take hxh.

I am always amazed by Togashi sensei's world building the power structure and dynamics are very different than our world which is very refreshing because other mangaka like Oda sensei's world(One piece) greatly resembles our own. I truly believe HxH is the best manga ever and I just hope we are able to watch it's completion.

Have we ever had it confirmed whether the genocide of Kurapika’s clan was “justified” to the spiders? I’m sure there’s no real justification for an act like that, but did the spiders feel justified for some reason beyond stealing eyes for money. I’m just curious if there’s a plot thread Togashi can pull on, bc the complexities of Kurapika’s relationship with the spiders and the world either need to adapt & evolve or Kurapika seems destined to condemn himself via blind revenge

Leorio is the part of the scooby gang that first reacts to and gives exposition on Meteor city and the Mafia's relationship to it. This is despite Leorio having no previously shown relationship to Meteor city or the Mafia. He also claims that the Phantom troupe has a special meaning to meteor city (ch 105). Leorio is not a guy with underground connections. Most of what he knows purportedly is official knowledge. The knowledge of Meteor city is largely related to the underground. So how does he know about it? He is also the first person in the scooby gang to give exposition on the Phantom troupe, which is special in Meteor city. He claims that everyone knows about them (ch 18), but in fact when they appear or start moving in one of the most populous cities... nobody appears to know them. Or of them. Even in the Mafia - only the higher ups do. I'm gonna call it guys. Leorio is from Meteor city. He knows OF the phantom troupe because they were special there. He can't admit to Kurapika that he somewhat respects them, that he grew up hearing of them. He was probably even one of the younger kids that was able to watch some of Chrollo's productions.

I would like to add something. The relation between work and attire . Like Leorio wears suit all the time ( probably related to money ) . But kurapika changed to suit after meeting mafia .... What u guys think about it !?

This video mentions that Meteor City is likely located near Kakin. But shouldn't it be located on the Yorbia continent that Yorknew, United States of Saherta) is located on? Since NGL and all the other small nations were Chimera Ant arc take place is off the coast of Yorbian Continent and we didn't get any indication that the Ants spread past that continent, so Meteor City is likely located on that continent. (Edit: damn... should have watched the rest of video before commenting...)

Honestly if it were a normal shounen i would go yeh makes sense since they love to connect every character of impotence or strength (usually in genetic relation) in an overarching plot and calling it great story telling essentially crafting the world to revolve around the main plot, while togashi crafts stories within a world ( a more realistic type of story telling) which at times intersect to create the main story. Which is why i enjoy hxh and scp so much. Due to how separated individuals stories are. So it is because of those style of writing i dont believe such a roundabout way of relation to 'neatly ' tie the story together exists.

How do you know the members of the zoldecks are from meteor city?

The background in that photo of the king isn’t the same background from when he gave the speech. It’s much more likely that he just does that pose a lot than someone having done it in a day. Not impossible but more probable that he just poses like that frequently enough that there’s a painting or photo of him doing it already.

Oito doesnt necessarily had to be taken straight from meteor city into marriage and being a queen/giving birth. It's more likely she was taken as a child and spent years training to be a queen. A king like Nasubi wouldn't sully his palace with an uneducated, unmannered girl from the slums. And, because of her origins, her family might as well have been exiled from Kakin, so they wouldn't have any claim or connection to royalty through her and, because of their destitute situation, ended up where everyone that has nothing ends up, Meteor City, perhaps Chrollo parents died on the way, died there or just sold him there.....Well, that would be one way to explain the theory.
