This is what is called "leaning on the fourth wall," which is a vague awareness. A character has to be completely self-aware in order to break the fourth wall.

Michael Rodriguez yep,Hideo Kojima uses both, where the characters either comment on things in game that would break the 4th wall but aren’t aware about their current status as a video game character and when they outright talk to the player, such as when in the first MGS you are told to find a code on the back of the game case, which was to combat pirates.

Since I first met Gaunter O'Dimm, I had always believed that Gaunter had such a huge interest in Geralt, that he, in secret, gave Roach the power of immunity and teleportation. Geralt is like another Roach for Gaunter: A very interesting character.

I agree with how bad it is when you find them but it is nothing to get upset or mad about it. It is just a game at the end of the day. Roach was like an integrated bug into the game for me and many more, if it wasn't for that Roach wouldn't be the joke it is now and this quest won't be as fun as it is. There are no perfect games but I won't deny that things like that could be fixed with a little bit of more bug-testing.

+zraiken that's not all tho. during the fist of fury mission, you fight a wisecracker named mancomb in a battle of words. mancomb is a play on Guybrush from the monkey island game franchise. also there's a guy you meet in a certain place called Handsome Jacques which of course is a play on Handsome Jack from Borderlands!

Game is littered with all these little tidbits from internet culture. There is a cave in Skellige with three cave trolls named Jesse, Joe and Dodger for example. Excellent place to farm mutagens and troll livers btw.
