Piecing the different versions together, I'm inclined to think that perhaps Telesilla used her army of women, old men and slaves to massively bulk out the forces of whatever scant garrison Argos had left: in full wargear, and seen from a distance, a woman looks much like a man: maintaining a highly-visible presence across the city walls, it would have appeared that Argos had maintained a strong reserve. It's just the kind of ruse a poet might come up with: the chorus in a Greek play might be an army, but the play doesn't require that they be *exactly* like an army, they just need to create the *impression* of an army. Even a few real soldiers might have been enough to take the lead in initial skirmishes, and maintain the fiction that Argos still had a strong army - at least, strong enough to withstand a siege, if not necessarily enough to defeat the Spartans in the field.

Very fake not supported by facts. Unlike Boudicca English warrior queen who supported by wave of male warriors for revenge for Husband and daughter. “Umbertina Lisi suggested that this referred to war poetry, though Telesilla's surviving fragments are religious rather than martial”

English warrior Queen!!!, she was Queen of the Iceni tribe 400 years before the Nordic and Germanic tribes invaded from mid to late 5th century AD.
