One problem for me is that my wife is afraid of my F-Type and won’t even ride in it. Oh wait, that’s not a problem at all. Why didn’t I think of this before? 78k miles and still smiling behind the wheel.

Simple. I do not beleive you. I just dont. Not even a silly pic of odometer will change my mind. Jags do not last beyond 60K, and after 36K there is decline in performance, and and and after 48K there is precipitous decline in performance and even more precipitous decline in put-togetherness. I am considering leasing F-Type roadster base, when my Alfa Gulia TI Sport lease ends in few months. But I will lease for either 36 or 48 months, with 7.5K miles per year, and all maintenance is part of lease contract. When fresh and new after first few thousand miles, with engine+tran broken in, its excellent. But those cars are not meant to last more then 5-7 years. Even with schedueled maintenance.

I test drive this 380hp S tomorrow. Im excited about being part of Jag culture with miles of smiles. Im a very young 63. I think the f-type will actually make me younger. Not older. Lol. Just watched your video, and thanks for the laughs! Dead spot on with your summary of F type ownership. I used to think my Denali truck had power and speed. Ruined. I used to have newer vehicle envy. Ruined Used to be able to park anywhere. Ruined Used to be able to go on any crap road. Ruined I am fortunate enough to have 1 other vehicle that makes me happy, and everyone else around look, smile and give upward thumbs. The E type. This damn farming habit just gets in the way too often. Maybe we’ll cross paths on the road sometime. Cheers!

Good afternoon Mark. The F-TYPE is my first Jag. I've bought 7 years ago for my first 40 years! And I must say that I do love this car!!! The design, the sound, the prestige of the Jaguar brand, because I love England and its landscapes... The F-TYPE has NO PROBLEMS, "she" has some "peculiarities": the cost of the maintenance, the cost of the wheels, the cost of the taxes, a too much old multimedia, some bad plastics... BUT "SHE" IS A GREAT CAR and I would buy it again! And I agree with you when you say that ALL THE PEOPLE that I meet when I go out with "her" smile and do the thumbs up sign! The Ferrari owners too!!! It's a great satisfaction! Bye Mark, have a nice Saturday Alessandro

Great video Mark. I completely agree with you on the increase in my laugh lines (wrinkles). Every time I drive my f tyoe, is so much fun. Having a RWD F Type R really has added to the fun. Fish tales and power slides . Reminds me of all the winter driving I did growing up in Wisconsin. Albeit a little different than the 1977 Olds Delta 88. As far as where you go from here? For the price, I don't think it's possible to find anything like the F Type. But, I do have one vehicle in mind. We'll see how much a newer used one is in a few years, but I'm thinking I may go for the Lexus LC500. Cheers to you and your family. Great video. Thanks.

Before I got my F-type to experience for myself, I noticed every reviewer on KZfaq would have that ear-to-ear smile when they stepped on it. Every single one. Especially the R and the SVR on deceleration when it makes those glorious pops and cackles. The guys from StraightPipes called the SVR the most obnoxious car you can buy, and they of course meant that to be a good thing. It sure is and I love it.

Grace, Space and Pace, I think that's what the "image" of the F Type portrays, hence people take to it in that manner, unlike say a Porsche or Lambo. I prefer to keep mine stock standard. If I had the means, I'd park a LC500 next to the F type in the garage. In terms of looks and sound, my grouping is F Type, LC500 and Aston DB11. My "country of origin" preferences are Britain (Obviously), Japan and Italy !

I'm surprised you didn't any of hit mine: 1. The outside driver seat bolster wears on the lower stitching . 2. The catalytic converters just get hammered by the incredible volume and aggressiveness. After the 8Y/80,000 warranty its a $3,000 DIY. The sport cats from Velocity AP are cheaper, but, overall, they sound pretty bad by comparison, and because they are so much narrower, they don't have the deep muscle sound or the beautiful howl. No good options besides lots of money on replacements. 3. The RWD cars are incredible, light, 700HP, higher WHP roll racers, but putting power down off the line is a nightmare. Tires are a constant challenge. My car ripped the bead out of both of my rear Michilen 4Ss, those tires are too weak to withstand a tune. My current Cup 2s have held up better but are totally overwhelmed by the RWD horsepower. 4. No dip stick. No low oil warning. The car will read "underfilled" when checked, but it won't pop a warning at you. Awful. Each line under 100% full is one quart low. So you might think the middle line is ok, but its not, its a full quart low. 5. GF5 0W-20 oil in a GDI. GF5 0W-20 was canned by economy cars for a defective lack of protection. Its an economy oil never intended for performance cars. Might as well fill it with water. Go with a good 5W-30, 40, 50, or 60 SAE racing oil. Change the oil as close to everyday as you can stand. This makes buying a used F-Type a big timing chain wear problem.
@markholubetz
@markholubetz 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks another great comment and yes I also thought that it was strange to spec such a Prius weight of oil in this car. Sometimes engine tolerances such as rod bearings may be tight so that’s a way to mitigate but I am.not sure. My mechanic buddy says race engines typically run slightly looser for valve clearances, big end bearing clearances, etc to assist with heat reduction during high stress applications. Still things that make you go Hmmm.
@FFE-js2zp
@FFE-js2zp 2 жыл бұрын
@@markholubetz I've researched the hell out of Jags choice of 0W-20. 0W-20, according to Castrol, is only used to improve fuel economy. Its fine for economy cars. Ford is the only other manufacturer that uses 0W-20 in a V8, but in their boosted V8 engines they use 5W-50 weight. Jag is the only manufacturer with 20 weight in a boosted V6, let alone a V8. Its absolutely the wrong oil, IMO, and will reduce engine life. The reason they use it, IMO, is their semi-religious commitment to mpg (and to avoid heavy fleet target-mpg fines). No other reason. If you read why GF6 was introduced to replace GF5, they come right out and say GF5 0W-20 is obsolete and defective, and does not adequately protect economy cars resulting in premature timing chain failure especially in GDIs. That's in economy cars. You do have to be careful using racing oils because high zinc content oils will coat the cats and turn on the cat check engine light. I had velocity turn off the cat check engine light.

One more I forgot that REALLY SUCKS: 6. The sticky buttons. I have discovered that 70% isopropyl alcohol takes it right off. They look perfect without the goo. Same for the side ac vent frame and the door trim around the inside door handle and seat controls. 70% iso fixes the issue in 5 minutes of cleaning.

@UC0NTRFpKyOuFgF0RWbkcA-Q try that oil in really ove hot countries like Cyprus and your jag will blow the head in a month.. You can't use that oil in hot country.. 0-20..summer here is 40c-45 under shadow.. You need 10-40 minimum.. But in dealer they will put you the suggested 0-20 and fuck your car
@FFE-js2zp
@FFE-js2zp 2 жыл бұрын
@@commantrosexetlos4700 I agree, in super hot climates, 0W-20 is even worse. Castrol themselves have a "Supercar" version of the same oil line (EDGE Titanium). Its advertised for daily driving or race day, its 10W-60. Jag would say that the first number in the oil weight is for cold starts only. The second number is less affected by climate, since its after warm up, which in modern cars is 195F to 230F then the cooling system kicks in. But this view does not take into account that sprints at high RPM produce local hotspots than are not cooled to long term equilibrium like the coolant's stable temperature. There are a lot of studies available online that show SAE 20 oils are not sufficient to prevent metal on metal contact in high pressure applications at high RPM. I dyno'd my F several times, trying to get the dyno to look right. The dyno operator freaked a little that timing was being pulled around 5900 RPM by the ECU, causing a sharp HP drop off before redline. It had us confused. After the second dyno, on a cooler day (90F ambient instead of 105F) we noticed the same thing, but at 6300, dropping a 100 RPM on each run. So I wondered if it was oil viscosity related. I came back the next day, at the same ambient temp, with Mobile 1 0W-40 Euro inside, and the drop off was gone. Far from scientific, but sufficient for me to ditch 0W-20. That said, I felt like I could feel the viscosity difference with SAE 40, slightly slowing the car down, so I use Royal Purple 5W-30 HPS (High Performance Street) as the right compromise for me. RP's 5W-20 Drag Racing oil might produce better quarter mile times at the expense of some wear. But since Castrol economy car oil only failed above 6K, using RP 0W-20 might be marginally ok. Note, RP has a high zinc content that can coat the cats.
