The Wrekin | Solo Walk | Exploring Shropshire

Rising to a height of 407 metres The Wrekin is a prominent and well-known landmark. If you've been to the Midlands and ever heard the phrase ‘going round the Wrekin’ the phrase may finally make sense.
There is an Iron Age hill fort on the summit. It is thought the fort was built by a Celtic tribe and was once their capital and then later on Roman invaders stormed the fort and set fire to it.
A more recent addition is the Wrekin transmitting station, used for broadcasting and telecommunications. At the top of the main mast is a beacon which emits a red pulse of light every few seconds at night.
I picked a lovely day for it, hopefully my adventures will inspire you to get out and about too. Particularly for the Moms out there like me, who enjoy a bit of me time in nature.

Great vid, moved to Shropshire last year and have waked The Wrekin quite a few times already - what a view at the top.

Awesome video, thanks 👍..i live in canader.. but my shepherd relative on 23nme told me about the wrekin..i quess there is a saying.. 'round the wrekin'

Nice vlog. I've walked it 3 times all the way from Wellington Train Station. Great Views at Summit. Don't think I'll do it Again as Chronic Tendonitis, so really appreciate vlogs

Yeah, Can be a bit busy at peak times I'm lucky to get up here in the daytime.

drive up the road, you can park in the hotel car park, this is where we park when we go, its about 10 minutes extra walking.

Most people will be able to get to the top in an hour. So a 2 hour walk up and down for most. :)
