How bout staggered offset? Squared 18x7.5 wheels but offset at the back is +38 and front is +47? Does it make any difference? Lowered car

Fun thought, I have always wondered how hard it would be to make new tone/reluctor rings to try & correct for staggered diameters. I feel like there is more to it than that, but maybe....

I suppose it would require the same skillset that making a new trigger disk for a cam angle sensor or crank angle sensor would need to improve the resolution that an ecu would see. If that skill set is there I think the next step is a solid CNC programer and a cnc. Although this is really a case of engineering a solution to a problem that shouldn't be there...haha

Question. I. bought some Audi S3 wheels to put my my VW Passat. I have brand new tires, all the same size, I have balanced them twice and even did an alignment, but I still have been experiencing vibration at around 70mph. I literally just herd that Audi S3 wheels come staggered from the factory. 8.5 and 8. If by chance the wheels place didnt recognize if they where staggered or not and maybe im riding with a mismatch stagger, like a 8.5 on the the left and a 8.0 on the right or something, could this cause that vibration? Probably yes right? but wouldnt the alignment machine pick this up?

So I had a flat on the rear of my car. Stock is 245/45/20, but I put two 255/45/20’s on my rear and it seems to want to steer ALOT sooner then before. So I feel like my issue soon will be over steer. Idk. Wish me luck!

So I have a 06 E 90 I’m trying to get aggressive look and unfortunately I’m new to the car scene so I went with 18x8.5 all around so how do I get that aggressive look is currently on stock suspension and I also ordered 20 mm for the rear and 15 for the front and also still need tires

The issue here is the e90 can take an 8.5 et35 ish wheel in the front and a 9.5 et35 ish wheel on the car all day. Sounds like your wheel choice / offset might have been a bit too conservative for the look you want. Spacing them out is the only way to help that now. Work with a wheel and tire pro to help you safety find a solution!

How about the Tesla LR AWD where this is the standard setup from the factory: Track Width = 1580 front & rear Wheel offset = +40 Tire size = 235/45-18 What would happen if I switched to the following: Front: 20x8.5": +35 with 235/35-20 tires Rear: 20X10": +40 with 275/30-20 tires

Sure. A lot of cars are like that from the factory. Many package and year corvettes come like that.

The Fiat 500e ( electric ) comes with a staggered wheel setup BUT the same tires all around,? It will affect the way the tire sits on the back wheels, eg wider at the bead, I imagine that * could * affect side wall flex to a certain extent. Would this setup add any appreciable stiffness to the rear suspension ?

As in the tires are the same size but the fronts ( I assume are wider) in theory that should stretch the front tires allowing more grip on the ground due to more surface area right?

I just put new 19”x8.5 235/35 front 19”x9.5 265/30 rear on a bmw f30 328D RWD. Will this affect my transmission or any other issues?

No, you shouldn't have any issues there. As long as you kept the same Overall Rolling Diameter, you're good to go.

We would NOT recommend putting a staggered set of wheels on your CX-5. For a car like that, it's best not to deviate too far from your factory sizing. Stay with a squared setup.

How much stagger is to much. ? Is a 4.5 inch difference with the rear being wider an issue on a solid rear axle setup. ? Doing a diff swap and don’t want to shorten

So many factors here but if your car doesn’t have a lot of vehicle stability control systems in use and you can fit them, the change in track width isn’t an issue but the handling characteristics of the car are obviously going to change depending on the use.

If I get a square set up 18x8.5+35 could I run a 245 in the front and a 255 in the back? Or would I have to get a 9.5 in the back

You’d want to check with the tire manufacture for the model tire you’re going to get. They will have an approved rim width column.

Hey quick question let’s say I buy a 18x8 + 35 offset wheel and a 18x 8.5 + 35 offset wheel, will both wheels fit the same or will the wheel that’s an 8.5 will poke out a bit more compared to the one that’s a 8 width wheel?

Correct. Assuming both are the same offset, the 18x8.5" would poke out of the car by 1/4" more than the 18x8".

I bought a 2010 lexus is250 it came with 19 inch rims all around I don’t know much about Lexus dumb I know anyhow when I hit a but it scrapes the wheel wall I don’t even know if it’s from or back wheel drive can I pls get advice should I go lowered or what would you recommend??? Car is stock not lowered thank you for the answer

Sounds like you might need to have your suspension components (shocks/struts) replaced.

There is a lot going on here. What exactly is scraping, is the actual wheel hitting the inside of the fender? Is it the tire side wall that is getting scrapped by the inner fender? Are you completely bottoming out? Obviously if you're scraping, you don't need to go lower. I agree with LES, you need to check out your suspension, but you also need to better communicate what it is that is happening. Maybe add some details like ride height, Wheel width and offset, and tire size as well.

a question please - on a 2010 e90 320d automatic msport - can you go squared setup rather with 225/45r17 instead of having the rear staggered 255/40r17? its a much cheaper maintenance route to have squared and its an auto so not used to 'race' ? thanks

Yes, you can go square in regards to wheel setup, make sure that you are keeping the same overall rolling diameter of the front tires on the front wheels and the rear tires on the rear wheels. Also, make sure the tires are good for the approved rim width you're using. Depending on the type of racing, automatics (in certain forms) can actually be a large benefit. However, it's not as much fun! :)

The best way to go about better looking wheels with functional benefits is to upgrade to aftermarket wheels that are sized correctly for your car. We can help, what car do you have?

I have on both my subarus.. wrx 17x7.5 front and 17x9 rear 235/45 17 on all rims... My forester 18x7 front and rear 18x9.5 235/50 on all 4 wheels.. Runs fine no AWD lights/etc The circumference of the tires are the exact same front and back so no issues

I have a 2014 Challenger 5.7L R/T. I chose staggered with 315's on the rear and 275's on the front. How will this treat my transmission(auto/paddle) ? It has 103000 miles on it and it feels like it may be slipping. Thoughts?

@@konigwheels it’s a slow daily Altima, should I put the 9.5” width in the front and run a half in spacer with the 9” width in the rear? Keep in mind the tires themselves are the same size all around.

@@MrBoroski Understood. Sometimes a reverse stagger on FWD makes sense when you're making a lot of power, but in your case we would recommend staying with a square setup to avoid any issues you might run into, especially in running a space on the rear.

In our experience, we've seen people have success at 8.5" between +35 to +32 offset in the front & 9.5" between +35 and +30 in the rear. Consult a wheel/tire professional or our sales team however as the margin for error between "flushed" and rubbing is very thin.

Audi RS3 runs a reverse staggered just like what the video says about fwd, to help compensate for understeer. I have an A3 with the same type of haldex awd and have contemplated running wider tires in the front. Decided on sticking with squared setup as I like to rotate and keep my set of tires for a longer time.

If the all-wheel-drive has heavy rear-wheel power bias and the engine is powerful, then a staggered rear setup can make sense

For RWD, my car’s factory setup is 225/50/18 for front and 245/45/18 for rear. I have some buddies run square setup with 245/45/18. If front and rear rims have Different offset, can you still do tire rotation??

Rotating front and rears with different offsets probably wouldn't work to your liking and fitment would be off.

Do 255/45 in rear. Tire height this way is closer match to fronts. Plus if rwd, better to have more tread in back. And will look slightly fuller

Thats supreme stupidity: “Tire Width - Intuitively, increasing the size of the tires would also, in theory, increase the size of the contact patch and thus improve traction. In reality, this isn’t the case: changing the dimensions of the tire, with tire pressure and car weight held constant, does not increase the size of the contact patch. Changing from a high-profile, narrow tire to a low profile, wide tire simply changes the shape of the contact patch from long and narrow to short and wide with the area remaining constant. “
