I'm a person that has lived a good deal of his life on fringes. Hopped trains, lived in squats, done tons of drugs from speedballs (clean now don't worry) to a preponderance of psychedelics, dissociatives, etc. Having met a lot of new age folks like this, I gotta say they are way more common than you think. It seems like a lot of people just lose it from doing way too much (without guidance or sober time to reflect) and they always come to similar conclusions. "I am God, nothing is real, blah blah." Every one of them is insufferable. This story just gives me that much more ammo for when I'm trying to dissuade someone from such ideas. Nothing wrong with psychedelics and the like, but when you think you can find the truth only by doing drugs and thinking to yourself, you're gonna end up a narcissistic whackjob. Every. Time.

Plus, the Thomas Theorem: if it is perceived to be real, it is real in its consequence. If a child feels as though there is a monster under their bed, the real consequence is that they don't sleep. If you perceive those around you as hating you, you withdraw or become more abrupt, and the real consequence is that they may pull away. Saying that just because things 'aren't real' doesn't erase the very real consequences that your mindset will bring. It's such a stupid argument, it really does infuriate me. My anxiety said that everyone secretly found me annoying, and even though my logical brain knew otherwise, the outcome of this mindset was so damaging. It took years to build my self esteem back up.

@Master Bow hmm. Not if it's just garden variety pantheism, where everything is god. To truly believe that one would have to believe god is also oneself (just like everyone else). I never saw evidence of him saying it was exclusive to him, that only he is god. Probably run of the mill spirituality. I was never a fan of Leo though, he just never gave me a trustworthy or wise vibe.
@TotalitarianDemocrat
@TotalitarianDemocrat Жыл бұрын
@@HansenFT To claim that everything is god and then to claim that you are god is to claim that you are everything and thus that there is no one else who exists independently of you. So it really doesn't matter at that point if you also try to claim that everyone is god just because it sounds a little bit better, because according to you everyone is just an extension of yourself (and you are of course god). And to claim that you are god and everyone is just an extension of yourself certainly is narcissistic to say the least. Note that to claim that everything is god and that you ARE god is a very different thing from claiming that everything is god and that you and everything and everyone else are all PART of god (in the same way that saying that you are PART of the material universe is very different from saying that you ARE the material universe). The former makes everything and everyone totally dependent on you; the latter makes you and everyone else dependent on god, who would still exist even if any particular part of him (such as you) did not. The latter position is clearly far less grandiose than the former, and I believe the latter is what pantheism traditionally claims.

@Master Bow I'm not claiming a single thing personally about this. Just made the point that it's probably not fair to assume that someone Saying "I'm god" means "I, and only I, am God," in the delusional narcissistic way. Narcissistic people who I grew up with are not attracted to ideas like "everyone is god" because the love hierarchies of human value, like status and money. Even love is a myth to a narcissistic person, they think it's an emperors new clothes thing people say to seem good. IMO.

That's why Leo has even rejected thousands of dollars from other people offering money to him. He literally only makes money from his Life purpose course, and it's literally the only product you can buy on his webpage, the beginning of the video mentioned "Shady business tactics" yet showed no proof of none. He has never denied the validism for material existence and that's something I admire from him, he has mantained himself grounded. Look at the video where he talked with Connor Murphy, you can clearly tell who is grounded and who ISN'T, even Leo basically called him delusional and that he needs to get a hold of himself, "Keep one foot at the ground"... "Nothing is "real"", but you still need to eat, wash clothes, go to work, study, just survive in this world. No work/money = no food.

People don't know when to stop, when to come back to reality, how to separate delusional teachings from something useful. I've seen WAY too many people become literally delusional, thinking that they are invincible and stronger than any gods they believe in. It's terrifying. It terrifies me to see what path they're going down, and even scarier that other vulnerable people are going to get hurt by these "teachings".

not necessarily *high* (some of his videos he's straight up tripping, and says so, and there's a difference in the patterns) but probably there's some degree of psychedelic induced brain damage. i'm an enjoyer and advocate for safe, responsible use, but i have met WAY too many people who end up permafried by too much psychedelics+stimulants for too long, especially if they never fully integrate the experience and just keep taking more. then, and *especially* if the person is predisposed to schizophrenia, their brains just never fully go back to engaging with the world in a way that translates nicely to others.

Thanks for making this. I stumbled upon Leo many years ago. I remember the first video I watched was “how to be funny” and ever since I was hooked. I went extremely deep in his videos and followed his advice and guidance. To make a long story short, I was walking a dark path. Despite his claims of self-actualization and enlightenment, I believed nothing in my life really mattered. I was also afraid of becoming Nihilistic or a solipsist. I pretty much out grew his channel, but so much of his stuff lingered in my brain. I quickly discovered ALL of his newer videos were essentially the same, yet some subjects contradict themselves. I’ve called him out a few times and even had a comment section argument with him about his obvious narcissism. He would say something like “you don’t understand because you’re not enlightened” or “this person you’ve referenced is not enlightened” or “you don’t know what you’re talking about”. But, according to him, no one knows anything and he’s God or whatever. For anyone reading this, please do not take this man’s advice, no matter how good it sounds. There are better teachers to follow and most are closer to you than you realize.

The things Leo says aren't that unfamiliar if you're familiar with philosophy. "We are God and God can only understand himself through himself" is a core feature of Hegel's work. Hegel is more or less mandatory when studying philosophy at university. Leo did take the concept a bit more literal than most others would.

He is very eloquent and well spoken. But as of lately he’s been sharing many unreasonable ideas to try to explain the logistics of his drug visions. And that has begone to bleed into all of his new content. Some of the things he says now are so irrational, that I think he’s lacking perspective or a second opinion to check-him on his mental gymnastics. He’s too confident in himself to consider the possibility that he might be misinterpreting his experiences. He’s ironically becoming dogmatic.

I found this guy a few weeks ago through someone uploading audio of some of his deleted content. Wigged me out for a few days, stared watching some content on his main channel, and because I could see his face while he talked, it became apparent he was trying to dare his audience into killing themselves... literally describing himself getting high with a loaded gun to challenge himself into another "awakening" and going on about how dangerous it was with this smug "yeah, I'm a badass, not a pussy like you" tone as he recommended against doing the same thing.

That is the ultimate manipulation. To own someone life and control how they die without touching them. megalomaniacs like him will search for power anywhere they can. It is clear he had issues with his mother from childhood. it is possible his mother was prostituting herself while he was still small boy and witnessed it all. His search for answers and escape from reality speaks of deep trauma he experienced. His first escape was computer games, another reality, virtual reality, but clearly he needed to collapse the Universe because he was hurting underneath. Drugs was his second escape and they fucked him up. He became entranced by his own world, where he was God, had all the control and could do and be what he wanted. The ultimate escape from reality- created a make-believe world where you are everything. Now, he just needed to share his world, to get attention and to feel that this world IS real, because if others see it and feel it, then it becomes real.

Came across him years ago when I was having my own sort of existential crisis. In contrast to many who say his videos drew them in they did the exact opposite to me. The dark background, the semi ominous lighting, the centric on his face point of view - it gave me bad vibes. Im glad I listened to them and never gave him my time again. The amount of manipulative narcissists in the spiritual/self help sphere like him, teal swan and spirit science taught me to never follow someone’s words blindly no matter how approachable or sensible they seem. That’s exactly why narcissists are so successful. Always, always always question everything and draw your own conclusions. And frankly, literally anyone who claims to speak for god or some kind of entity for others is such a slippery slope and to be avoided.

This whole story is depressing, he prayed on the weak, pushed drugs as a way of reaching “true enlightenment”, and encouraged a death cult where he was extremely dismissive of the suicides his “spiritualism” had caused. Just hearing how cold and dismissive he was is rage inducing, but what really saddens me is hearing how people within their community didn’t challenge the suicide about to happen, they didn’t tell the person “please don’t, you are loved” they instead encouraged the ideas, and it’s just really messed up knowing that upon the ledge of a bridge the guy wasn’t told “hey, let’s not do this, please go home to your family that you deeply love”.

I've been followling leo on and off for the last 7 years now and watched most of his videos. I always tried to think for myself and not project stuff on to him, taking the topics as opportunities to learn about new interesting theories and perspectives. The study of his work and of his development was very interesting, at times psychologically destabilizing but very worthwhile, I learned so much. I had times were I was full on board with his spiritual teachings followed by times of sceptisism -being quite sure he'd gone of the deep end. After his intense experimentation with psychedelics he barly hung onto a reality we would consider real, but he came back making very sober videos again, warning people about the dangers of spirituality, while not neglecting to share what is to be found when diving deep. One thing to remember when trying to form an image of him based on his videos, is that he always tries to adress his videos to a certain audience, in fact he tells his viewers straight out that most of the content he does will be not helpful or even damaging for most people. He can seemingly contradict himself in different videos, but that's not a fault, that's a feature, he is a master in stealmanning all kinds of perspectives. He is human like all of us sometimes a little narcissistic and sometimes a little arrogant, yes sometimes even a little delusional, but after watching hundrets of hours of him, and a good chunk of that with a critical eye, I can appreciate his perspectives and am very grateful for his content. Calling him a cult leader is doing him an injustice, if he had bad intentions, he could've done some dark shit with his sometimes vulnarable and sometimes delusional followers. The topics he covers are at the edge of normal, reality and even sanity. Striking a balance between trying to share his deepest experiences (being a guineapig for diving into spirituality with the help of psychedelics is what he set out to do) and still advocating for a save and good life is really difficult. In the past he definitely missed to strike the balance, but he really tried. Most people would have fcked that up big time. Sorry for the long comment have a good one.

You missed some of his origin story. Before Leo got into 5-MEO-DMT he wasn't as extreme and was earnestly seeking spiritual truth. Then he interviewed an out spoken psychedelic guru called Martin Ball. This is where he became inspired to use 5-MEO to become enlightened (or "actualized"). Leo started taking on a lot of Martin's ideas (about being God in a radical fashion) and also pushed on hard with psychedelics. He visibly went down a rabbit hole which must've been immensely challenging. 5-MEO is no joke and Leo did a ton of it. I believe he has in fact had some incredible insights in his trips... but sadly he has not been able to integrate them very well. The result is an unchecked, out of balance community of big egos and lost souls. The blind leading the blind looking for insight in a dark world. It's incredibly sad.

this whole thing really outlines how careful you need to be with psychedelics. To share my own story, tw: suicide, delusions, my sister took a bunch of psychedelics and thought she experience ego death. After a round of ketamine and acid, she "realized" that she was god and that the world around her was a simulation that she had created. Within a month of this, she committed suicide so she could "return to her original form". It's something I've struggled to understand and cope with for years. That my sister was driven to her own death by the ideas she had while under the influence of psychedelics. This video presents 2 more examples of people led away from reality to their own destruction by them. Please be cautious out there. It's not fun questioning reality for too long and being alone in this journey because you have no one who can relate to this experience, even the people who you tripped with. What you said is absolutely correct but in my opinion, you can take every precaution in a trip and there will still be a chance to experience an uncomfortable or even hellish trip. @@anthonyschwartz1084 I totally get what you're saying and what you see. I still believe it is brash to discount the words of someone like this because to be capable of organizing those old ideas into a comprehensive philosophy is intensely challenging. It's something very few can do and it's the reason he has amassed such a large following. To deny that his words are profound is pretty stubborn in my opinion, because clearly over a million people found his messages to be important or life changing. The reason why it's important to distinguish him from other wackjobs is because he is a very smart and knowledgeable psycho. He is clearly smart enough to research and study the old philosophies and compile them into his own, these distillations of long passed down wisdom have value that cannot be denied and prove him to be unique and capable in an area most people aren't. The issue is that he often turns those truths from philosophy into more seflish and nihilistic ideas. To deny his ability is offensive to those who care about the old philosophy he is preaching.

You can lose yourself in madness very easily, asylums are filled with the arrogant and incautious that went too far and couldn't find the path home. Years of training are required to be able to find yourself again and ground yourself in reality with the goal of actualizing yourself spiritually AND PHYSICALLY, to connect you to the reality we all share which is just as real and valid as the one inside. Dreams can show you things you did not think was possible BUT THE DREAM MUST END, you are mortal and need to wake up, take a shit, have breakfast and do your chores.

That means in the case of pedophilia, we or rather our collective self are the rapist, but our colleective self is also who the person being raped ultimately is so it is an extreme form of perfect justice as we are literally literally the ones who are taking in what we are dishing out .* *Three are many other philosophical concept in this video that are being misrepresented, but I am starting to get really high so I won't get into them right now, will probably come back and edit this comment later or tomorrow, if I remember.*

When I first got into them I was literally doing them every 2-3 weeks, and after about a year and a half, I completely changed my life for the better, BUT I started having feelings that I was the only thing that existed and everyone and everything was literally just a figment of my imagination. (Solipsism, I think?) It got to the point where I’d sometimes go into panic attacks about the reality of nature, and the thought that I’m not really even here and that everything is fake or just energy masquerading as solid matter. It eventually gets to the point of, “what is the point of even being here anymore”, and when those thoughts started I knew it was time to drastically slow the psychedelics use down.

@@wasabithumbs6294 Read fully before judgement since that seems to be largely where he failed... The first interaction I had with him I basically gave it a pass because I can see how one could easily take a closed minded approach such that they shut down and don't even listen since it involved Astrology and whether the celestial bodies have influence on humans, weather, future events etc... and while its an unpopular opinion, for whatever reasons, I am from a firm stance that the motions of heavenly bodies can be used as a predictive tool for various reasons and ever so slowly my hypothesis is panning out. Anyway, I came to this place from decades of studying Science, pseudoscience and metaphysics and compiling tons of data, aka, the scientific method. Mind you, i am not arguing that Venus in conjunction with Mars in your 8th house blah blah blah... means a god damn thing but the Sun and the Moon indeed affect creatures, weather, and grouping patterns of Homosapien and if we look in the distance past at the origins of it the idea of personalized horoscope( the things we use to discount it to this day) was considered absurd and impossible even by the practioners. Those in ancient times would have made the exact arguments we make about modern astrology and they indeed did make the argument its useless and would not work. It was not until a King requested personalized horoscope that despite the person he was asking trying to tell him it don't work like that, he insisted because royals gonna royal. Originally it was simply a tool for the prediction of weather, crops, famine, feast, eclipses etc... stuff well within the range of roughly predicting with proper understanding of astronomy. Regardless I suppose that is all irrelevant as it was not his stance on the matter that bothered me but instead his handling of the discussion as a whole. I get his side of the argument yet what rubbed me the wrong way was that he would not even listen enough to understand the argument being made and what I was trying to show him, proper peer reviewed citations and all, was not far fetched. The response was kindergarten like " haha u is tupid durrhhuur" which is a frustrating stance to debate against. No, the final blow came in a discussion about Quantum mechanics, some stuff he got wrong and his push for the validity of the multiverse which for all intents and purposes is the pseudoscience he claims to be against as its not falsifiable and adds nothing to modern cosmology or quantum mechanics. Most DO NOT believe the multiverse is a valid theory in any way shape or form. Mainly only physicist who have a book yo sell you are the ones who push that absurd theory. His demeanor in these interactions caught me off guard and it seems his ego has exploded from picking the low hanging fruit of creationists and flat earthers he has become convinced he can do no wrong and worst of all his go to arguments are ad hominen attacks and not the facts he claims to pride himself in. When trying to say something about this is not how scientist work or something along those lines his response of " im not a scientist i am a science communicator " said it all for me. He does not care about science, he cares about the clout science might get him if he understands it well enough. Worst part is his job is a communicator yet his communication skills are awful. It sounds like he does not want to communicate... he just wants to hear himself talk and have people tellem how great he is for it which I suppose is relatively easy when your main advisories are Flats Earthers. Its like getting an ego because you are smarter than everyone on the short bus. Not the accomplishment he seems to think it is.

Another great video about some weirdo on the internet that I’ve never heard of before but I still watched it from start to finish! Because… Turkey Tom created it! 😊 I have learned quite a lot from several of your videos, and I thank you for that. 🙏🏻 The amount of research, fact checking, time, mental energy, and talent that goes into creating these deep dive type videos on these weird but complex Internet personalities is very appreciated. It’s also very much needed in the KZfaq commentary community… breaking out of the proverbial box of the usual & calling these influential people out & pointing out how actually dangerous they are and/or could be. The information you’ve provided will no doubt deter someone from falling into this cult & buying into his 💩 One day someone will come across this weirdo, Leo & his cult and will start buying into his bs, and hopefully they will type his name into the KZfaq search bar or Google & come across your video and decide to stay away. Again, thank you for putting in the hard work to produce factual, well put together videos that provide the entire internet with the information & a spotlight on these dangerous f¥[k-bags! ❤ 🙏🏻

Ugh, I have never understood how people fall for cults or cult leaders. I knew a guy who had the potential to become one and may have already been on his was to creating one before he ended up in prison. He was a friend of an ex of mine. It was weird as hell watching how people would become mesmerized when he spoke. I would be watching this and thinking why the hell are these people falling for this crap. I’m never going to understand this along with many other things humans do.

Tom do a deep dive on Spirit Science, idk what he did but apparently the Jordan guy is from my city (Winnipeg) he ran from the city for a reason people privy to the guy wouldnt tell me about and that shits a cult. I was almost pulled right into the center of it. Ironically my ex dumping me, making me reflect on myself is what got me out of the tinfoil hat psuedoscience sphere. I want as many people as possible to shine a proper critical light on that shit, and wanna know what he did here that caused him to leave and pretend to restart life.
