Besides some online lectures on KZfaq, your channel is one of the greatest in terms of dealing with the art of photography. Great content Ted! It is great that someone is giving so much content in what the essence or art of photography is all about. Setting the focus on the image and not on the gear is verry important ... I saw on the Facebook thread for assignment that people where posting pictures from pinhole cameras to phone and this is great. Some of the pictures you showed in this video where made with cameras/film with 2 digit ASA/ISOs. Great content, Cheers!

Thank you so much for these tutorial/historical information. Excellent channel you have!! I'm a fairly new photographer and drone video guy but I'm absolutely in love with it. I destroyed my lower back in a work accident and it has blessed my life in the sense that I am now pursuing what I've always wanted to do. Absolutely loved this video Ted!! many thanks!! I've been doing some pics for the assignment and I liked the results. still, most of the time I got use to shoot more or less from a a centre angle (from my belly height) this time I did it straight from the floor.

Thank you for this video, very helpful, especially as I decided to use this low angle as my project 365 for 2017. I had been taking very low, ground level images since 1st Jan, but on the 13th I slipped on ice and fractured three ribs, which currently makes getting down low difficult. So I've been taking other low angles, based on the height of subject or the surface it's sitting on. It's a tough assignment that's for sure. Even without the rib problems. Hopefully I will get 365 photos by the end pf the year and some of those will be half decent.

Shot a roll of 120 and a roll of 35mm for this assignment over last weekend, should have the scans back by the end of the week (paid for a rush job!).. Hope I get a few killer images to print, tape into my sketchbook, and share! KUTGW Ted, love the show!

Can’t wait to see what PoV you will choose for your podcast when we will do shots from above. Maybe shooting it outside in a swirling stairway will provide a nice dramatic effect. Alternatively, you might use your drone, who knows! Nice video Ted! Combining perspective and low angle shooting is an essential reference information. Perspective is greatly exaggerated when shooting at an angle and if one chooses his focal length wisely, he can add much more distortion, emphasizing grandeur or scale to his shot.

How funny to see some of the sights of Cow Town in your video... One or two sights and buildings (the YWCA not the YMCA, the fire escape on the side of the building at W.7th and Lamar), make for some great photographs. Good for a lazy Sunday morning photo walk.

Hi Ted, Hope you are doing well. I have been following you on KZfaq and I love the work you do explaining and trying to show photography from the other side. Not the mechanical and "press the shutter button" way , but from the art point of view (apparently, since your channel name is ..). So now my question is, could you name the top 5 books that you would recommend for a photographer to develop himself as an artist? I know, that it doesn't come just by reading books, but still, something that would talk more in-depth about the topics that you cover like negative space, color palette, angle of shooting, composition, etc. Book for a person who is already very comfortable and advanced with the camera as an instrument. Hi Ted, great video, as always, I may have to add. Your channel is a real treasure in a otherwise mostly noisy media world. A question I wanted to ask for while is: What’s your point on the whole copyright issue with photographs, let’s say concerning the old masters, etc. What is allowed to use as a "journalistic" blogging person, when would you ask for permission, and whom to ask, let’s say if you show something from HCB as a reference? I’m also asking because, in some counries the laws may be more prohibitive than elsewhere, would be interesting to elaborate a bit on that. Maybe that topic could make it in a feature vlog post. ;-)

Hello, I'm a bit off with this question, but what is the best way to find "good" and inspirational photographs like the one you used during this video? I have several photography books that are quite interesting, but I like to gather images and put them into my smarphone to look at them once in a while when I need something like an "inspiration boost"… So I was wondering what is your way to gather interesting images when you make your videos? (or maybe there isn't any particular way to do this…) Cheers!

TURST67 Try Pinterest. You can organize boards with it. Also lookup Ted's. I think is TedForbes as user. He's got a lot of boards dealing with photographic subjects.

Love Your videos dearly, but the music has the effect (independent of it's style) of a ringing telefon in the back, wich is really annoying. In other videos You had the volumen of music significant lower than the narration. Nethertheless I find Your work the best and most significant I know!
