Nigel, Your comments about keeping these plants moist is valid. We grow many of these as bonsai here in s.e. Florida USA. Mine are watered daily. You should be getting some beautiful flowers on your mature plant. Even as seedlings these flower prolifically during the spring and summer months. They make very nice bonsai. Thanks for sharing your work on this one.

I bought a ‘Brazilian Powderpuff’ Calliandra Spinosa from Wigerts the other day, tree will be here on Wednesday, also bought a divi divi. As always I enjoyed the video Nigel

With all the work done to the Ppuff, it will have a nice flush of root growth followed by some nice foliage growth & a reward of flowers later in the season. Pot looks cool 😎

What a cool tree! Pretty Painted Lady too. Leaves are beginning to pop here now. When I drive to the city, you can see the green just showing in the distance.

The mimosa trees are also known as the Persian Silk tree which is a far more romantic and historic common name for them. It harkens to the silk road used in antiquity that snaked from China to the near east. I can't help but fantasize over them every time I look at mine.

You could put the branch with the flower bud in a small vase. Might just bloom for you. Just a thought

These grow like weeds here, I’ve collected 4 from my pots & now grouped together. They were allowed to grow tall to get thick trunk, which has been achieved IMO. Next step would be have it branch like yours ❤
