Passion projects are among the best life pursuits. Also appears likely the unusual Toyota or Lexus problems will be sent to AMD that even the dealerships can't figure out, but dedicated owners don't want to get rid of their vehicles over.

With your skill set, garage, training and access to Toyota and Lexus networks, I think this is a fascinating adventure in owning one of the best-built and practical luxury cars ever made. Thanks for sharing the journey with us. I recently purchased a 2005 Highlander Limited with with only 100K miles and excellent maintenance records. It is easy for me to work on and very sturdy, as well as a pleasure to drive. I plan to keep it stock as much as possible. I found a 2007 in the salvage yard that had a front-end collision. The interior/exterior was same colors. I harvested a wheel borrow of parts of of it and they are bagged and marked on a special shelf in my basement. I hope to have it through 400K.

Its about the process and the skill you develop after years of being a mechanic and not just a parts changer. Theirs also the pleasure that comes with working on a quality machine and putting it right again. If you are like me you go to sleep thinking about a problem and wake up with a solution .Its going to be beautiful car and I'm sure you enjoy it. Yes it will likely never be 100% done, but that's OK. I bought a 2017 LS460 brand new… I never wanted to drive it, a rock chip HURT deep in my heart. I sold that on, bought a 2007 LS460L for $8,500, sank about $20,000 in repairs into it over the course of 4 years but I drive that thing EVERYWHERE. So I understand why you are doing this. The other day, I had my Mom in the 2007 LS460, I wasn’t paying much attention and drove over a parking block with the right front tire, it didn’t do any real damage, but I was mad for about 2 seconds and got over it, if I had done that on my 2017 I would still be mad! Haha my 2007 isn’t perfect, but I certainly love driving it.

TOTALLY WORTH IT. ON THE ROAD, THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THE FEEL. IT GOES FROM 50 TO 110 MPH FASTER THAN JUST ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE! And you roll on, totally relaxed on the road. Relaxed, alert, and ready to drive on and on and on! Wow!!! Everybody is jealous!!!

I really do not like crowds, but I am proud to be one of the million. Well deserved AMD. I knew my LS430 was a great car, but AMD has shown me just how great it really is. I wish you had given us part numbers for all those replacement clips you have used from start to finish.

Loved this one. You are an inspiration to those of us who work on our own cars and love the overall process, but still get frustrated along the way with the little setbacks that seem to happen continuously. You had your fair share of setbacks in this one, but always seem to maintain your positive attitude and good nature, no matter what you encounter. That's a great model for the rest of us as we dig into car repairs and restorations as well as in other parts of our lives. God bless you.

Ahmed, you are doing great on this car. I like that you answer to yourself and you do as you please. I drive my 45 year old car daily ( Pontiac Bonneville), because I love it and I fix it. It's far from perfect, but gets compliments always. My wife and daughter are in 05 Toyota and Lexus's , 3.3 vvti respectively, each with 190 to 195K miles that are great vehicles as well. Yes, I am envious of that gorgeous high mile Lexus of yours, it's so beautiful, and although I would love one no matter how many miles, I so thrilled for you that you have this. You deserve this beauty, and this car deserves an owner as great as you. May God bless you as well.

It's not about the cost if you love it. It's a beautiful restoration ........... one that could only be accomplished by a master mechanic who admires the pinnacle of LEXUS engineering and craftmanship. I've been to JAPAN many times and, I too, admire their attention to detail, customer satisfaction, and meticulous pursuit of perfection.
