You're forgetting about the super extra bonus function of the NB cluster... the extra doinker above the temp gauge (that is used as the immobilizer warning light in NB2's)!!! I had Adam make me a generic red spot lens for that little dot so I can put a warning light back there. I've yet to install it because I've yet to decide what I want to do with it, but with +12 ignition available back there, all you need is a ground switch of your choice and you can turn on a red light on the dash for anything you want. Oil pressure, traction control, water pressure, etc etc. The possibilities are endless!

Also, if you want a properly accurate water temp gauge, putting a VDO gauge into the NB cluster is hella easy compared to what you ended up doing for the NA oil pressure gauge. I'm happy to send you pictures of how I did it if you want.

@@nickwild7 I went with the 3.23 as well. You won't be disappointed. Also the install isn't really that bad, the only reason mine took me a while is because while I was doing that I was going from bone stock 1.6 to built 1.8 with a turbo. My friends did a video on my car a few weeks ago, if you want to check it out their KZfaq channel is Napp Motorsports, they've got a couple other Miata reviews on there as well, mines the green one.

This is a great video. I spent weeks sorting the gauge cluster in my Locost. I’m the fourth owner and no one before me invested the time to make a working speedometer, beam indicators, fuel level, gear position indicator, and odometer. The car is so much better to drive with instruments that function. You have my respect, sir! I own an NB also and jealously covet your oil pressure gauge.

Got an NB for $1800 about a year ago. Could've copped an NA for $1100(more beat up). Made the right choice. Not only does the NB perform better. It looks WAY BETTER. 80s nostalgia is one thing. Good taste is another. ... .!

there was this one guy on the miataturbo forum that made a mount for an hdmi screen that replaced your gauges while being ran by a raspberry pi unit (it was just a mount that he 3d printed). if anyone interested just google "miata digital gauge"

There's a digital goes in the oil gauge slot for nb cluster that indicates oil pressure,volt meter and other things

If I was facing that much work just for the oil pressure gauge, I would install a generic oil pressure sensor and a CANchecked LCD gauge. That way you can have oil pressure when you want it, but also any other data Megasquirt has, plus configure things like alarms - how about a flashing warning with buzzer when coolant is over a certain temperature?

30:18 Literally the same page, right above the ppm values says 'ppm values listed below are only valid after calibration is complete'... That literally means that you have to calibrate the sensor as you did for the 2000/4000 ppm to be correct :D

Hey miata guys i have a question i have a 96 mspnp2 can i just plug in a e85 sensor sensor to the ms or do i have to solder a 10 k ohms resistor to my mspnp2

Its the options port on ms2pnp #13 called launch control input pin. U just wire the signal wire from the flex fuel sensor to it. With ms2, they make u choose between having launch control or a flex fuel sensor but not both at the same time. Lame, I know.. But it does the job. when I say options port I mean the extra harness with 26 pins they give you when u buy the ecu new. U wire the flex fuel sensor's trigger wire to #13 of the options port. Also known as launch control input. after u do that (assuming u supply power and ground to ur sensor obviously) you go to tuner studio and under flex settings choose input as launch. Then you're all set. You can add the flex gauge to your dashboard and it will work.

Hey Greg I'm working on putting an early na oil gauge in my nb cluster with the na oil sender we wired everything up and when testing the lights such as brake airbag cel worked until I switched the key to accessory mode then we saw some smoke so pulled the cluster and found a burn in one of the contacts on the blue backing plate. I'm pretty sure I followed the wiring in the video to a t any insight on what might be happening would be much appreciated thanks Greg

My only question/comment is that I thought that you could run the cherry sensor into the Megasquirt and have IT output a pulsed output to the speedometer and odometer. That is essentially what I’ve been thinking of doing if I go with the BMW 6-speed.

Creg HALP! I have a scenario you didn't cover but is close. I have a VVT swapped NA with a NB trans. I want to do a digital PI dash that gets its sensor info from my MS3PRO. I'm assuming i cant just plug the NB VSS into the MS3 since theres some sort of signal conversion happening in the OEM gauge cluster. Whats the best way to convert the NB VSS signal so its readable by the MS3? Will that fancy Dakota box do the conversion for this senario too?
