As work on the courtyard calms down, our attention turns to the interior of the chateau. The photographic exhibition 'Seeing Women 2020' takes place, and it includes some of Michael Potts' photos! Selmar makes progress on the downstairs loo, but his progress is hampered when he sends Philip and me to buy the things that he needs...
The Chateau Diaries Episode 169 ✨🏰✨
Escape to the chateau with ’The Chateau Diaries’ 🏰
This channel follows the adventures of chatelaine Stephanie in her French 16th century home, the Chateau de Lalande, in the heart of rural France ❤️
We share our life in this ancient chateau in the heart of the French countryside, and show you the diy, renovations, crafts, cooking and gardening that are needed to bring a home like this to life!
A very special thank you to all of you who have become Patrons of the Chateau de Lalande. You have made The Chateau Diaries one of the top 500 Patreon accounts in the world, and have transformed not only out lives here, but the future of this beautiful chateau! I’m overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity. On behalf of this beautiful chateau that will continue to survive and flourish because of you, thank you!!!

@@robwestley7370 💐Agree with your summation. Plus, paying top💰dollar for expert consultants is no guarantee they won't experience such issues down the road🛣. 😞Sometimes even 🛠skilled folks are narrowly focused on a specific issue or task. They don't always address the bigger 🌠picture. 👩‍🏫 This is one of those "Live & Learn" things. When we blundered, my father used to say we took out an insurance policy against future errors. He would encourage us to chalk up those "costs" (effort, time, labor, expertise, material goods, etc.) in order to keep us from repeating a similar mistake. 👨‍🏫So, I was basically mentored in analysis too🤗. I get that careful reflection about such detail is not everyone's strength or interest. 👩‍💻I am rather fanatical about 📚research🗃 too, but know I can still get 💣blindsided💥 working in unfamiliar territory🔨. 🔍Often get valuable insights reading comments in ⚒DIY vlogs, blogs & articles where real ppl address their own 😁triumphs & fails😠. 🤔This info can start me looking in a new ↖️direction⤴️ and has helped💪me avoid 💲costly💲 mistakes. ✒Many folks inclu. myself wrote here about possible💧drainage💦 issues before the gravel arrived. If anyone @ the Chateau 🗞read👀 the related comments we don't know bcos the inhabitants rarely respond here😣. Perhaps Stephanie feels only the 😎Patrons are worthy of consideration. Not on Patreon, so I cannot fully back-up that somewhat jaded suspicion. 🎉Meanwhile, this forum at least allows the community to connect. I suppose that must satisfy, if you wish to remain here. 📺Although Stephanie ought to be aware that the number of comments also favorably impacts their KZfaq algorithm too. 😆Sorry this turned into a bit of a rant, but Social Media @ it's 🏆best🥇is supposed to be a fully interactive experience. I truly believe that Stephanie is a woman of integrity and grace, but sometimes understandably details may fall through the cracks as a result of the phenomenal popularity & growth of the🏰Chateau Diaries⛲ series. 📰If Stephanie or anyone else did read these specific comments on drainage, they clearly dismissed them😔. Of course, they are well within their rights to take another tact. This is their property. And, I know they have many things to consider that I am likely unaware. 🔇It is the silence that bothers me. I hope they understand that most of these "busybody" notes & suggestions in this section come from a good place of wanting to help and participate somehow. Most of the greater ⚜Lalande community cares deeply about the occupants as well as the goings-on there. 😊We want to see them all fully succeed in reaching their dreams🌈. To that end, I'm very happy that not only did Dan notice the💧rain 🌊puddling💦at the base of the 🏰Chateau in this video. He also shared his concerns and presented a solution to mother & daughter. Bravo! 👏👏👏

A tip for the tool novice: I take pics of the job I need doing and pics of the tools that I have and talk to the trade people through visuals. It works a treat for me. Dont forget to smile alot. 😊😁
@teresacarle294
@teresacarle294 3 жыл бұрын
😁Very smart👍, esp. when it comes to replacing tools. Smiling a lot is definitely a 🗝key strategy. If all that fails, cajoling and begging can help too. 📷 To that end, I brought diagrams, photos and bookmarked blog pages on phone📲 of our "faux built-in bookcase wall" project to Home Depot. It truly did help us communicate what we needed better. Stephanie might speak French, but as she proved that neither she nor Phillip speak in "hardware." 🛠 That is a special language all on it's own. Tip #1 keep your receipts. There tends to be a lot of Returns/Exchanges when you're a novice in this area. I find it is worth the extra trips and the frustrations to learn it as I go well worth it in the end. 🤚When you have a hand in it, it is very satisfying to see your finished product. #2 keep a 📒DIY journal with project details & materials. If possible, take pictures or videos of each step. You might need to recreate your genius one day. Plus, someone might review your progress & have the perfect solution for you to make adjustments in future😉.

Even the best of us have our limits & hardware is not Stephanie’s. That’s ok because she is talented in so many other fields. She is an extremely talented singer, has a great eye for fashion in clothes as well as decorating the chateau. Just look around the drapes & pelmets for various beds, that she has done herself. Her enthusiasm is infectious & has encouraged us to do things or at least try new things. Also look at the community of followers that watch her channel & even though we don’t know each other & live in different countries we have a closeness & so many positive vibes. It’s helped me at least get through these dark days laughing at the goings on at the chateau. Long live Stephanie & all La Lalanders❤️

I know this is a detail of a detail, but the little horse statue in the photograph got my attention. It's a Breyer Family Foal, and I own a Breyer store! I cheered at seeing it and the cute little pony in the picture, too, of course.

📺 Outlander proves our growing fascination with he-men💪sexy Scots with flowing, long locks. With his amazing accent, if the Scotman👨‍🎨 grew his hair out, he might have even have more viewers ❤swooning😍. 🤗 Curly or straight, men can definitely be ravishing with longer hair. Selmar & Phillip show that even when they tie their curls back in a queue, they still look attractive😉. 🤔 Surely, this ultra masculine trend deserves a come back!? 🗳 In 2020, we all need a little pizazz and inspiration👍. ~~~~~~~~~~ 📷 I got the impression her photographic artistry and speciality might be on the fairer sex♀️, but maybe she takes commissions on ♂️male subjects too 💁‍♀️. 🎉 Thx for showing us some of this 📸exciting exhibition, inclu. Michael Potts featured photos. 🎀 Fabulous to see femininity in focus. 💞 Love the outstanding work we got to preview of this special series. Such talented & impressive artists from all around the globe🌐. Hope it is a wonderful 🎈celebration🎊!

I love the color of the stone. Stephanie would be smart to put in a paved parking area for the cars it would look neater and be more functional then finish the rest of the courtyard with the beautiful stone.
@eledatowle7128
@eledatowle7128 3 жыл бұрын
I agree - It would look very nice and be a lot less maintenance, since it's a more-used section of ground. The cars will create ruts and potholes in the gravel over time, so it will need to be constantly raked or dragged if it's done in gravel. Asphalt there, Stephanie. If you are concerned about the appearance where the two materials meet, you could always put a lamp post or decorative fence section at the meeting point to make it look intentional.
