Love the old Winchesters. I wish I had more of them. The hard part of even owning the few I have is finding someone to pass them down to that will know and appreciate them. I have to go now and get a towel. I'm still drooling over the beautiful collection you just showed us.

I have a 1895 in 30/40 I was my grandfathers rifle. My grandfather served inthe front in France at 17 years old WW1. HE said the 1895 in 30/40 was as good a rifle Any one could want. He fed a family in Northeren Saskachewan with it and I still use it.

I once owned an 1985, 30-06 carbine, 22 inch barrel, straight grip. Loaded with stripper clips. Shot two Barren Ground Grizzlies with it. Loaned it out and it was destroyed in a house fire. I loved that rifle for hunting moose an caribou.

Back in 1990 or so my older brother, GOD Bless his soul, had inherited a Winchester in .405 Winchester. I was living in Dallas at the time and my brother was in eastern Missouri. I was working a gun show and found several rounds for the rifle. When I got home I called my brother to tell him what I'd found. I said "Mike, I worked a gun show you'll never guess what I've purchased." He said he hoped that it was any ammunition for the Winchester because he was at a gun show and traded it off. What a hoot! I wasn't out much and found someone that was interested in the one box. But it sure made me laugh. Sure wish he would have sold it to me but I really was financially strapped at the time.

As a Winchester and Marlin collector myself, I've been on the lookout for a "big medicine rife" for many years. The very few model 95's I have seen for sale in Cal. .405, demanded a much higher price than I could afford to pay. I am very happy you got got your beautiful "one-of-a-kind" at such a reasonable price, Lady Luck had her face shining on you for sure! I love your channel, content and the beautiful country where you live, please continue with doing what you do for your viewers. Maybe one day, before I tip over, I will be be graced with the luck of having you do some work on a couple of my old Winchesters.

As a poor young gun collector I’ve started my “collection” on collecting Ruger firearms. The vintage stuff. I picked up an older 1983 Ruger mini-14 with a beautiful wood stock this morning and I’m a happy fella. Good to hear you like collecting.

In Canada the 303 was predominate while it was 30US in States. I've hunted with the 95, they are all great shooters with that long site plane, only drawback, they are also a PITA to load. Your collection is beautiful sir !

Mark, we have the same philosophy. I couldn’t own a rifle or pistol very long without taking at least a few shots. That statement probably scandalizes some collectors but like you said “they were made to be shot”.

Neat, neat guns. I have a picture of my grandad, who was a rancher, a great horseman and loved to hunt, standing by a mulie buck he shot with a 1895 in 30-40. I now own the gun and have shot it a few times. A definite treat. He loved the 30 caliber and used a pre-64 model 70 in 30-06 to take most of the game in the western US, Alaska and even hunted Alberta, Canada. Keep theses great videos coming.

That .303 strikes me as a very good cartridge/rifle combo. I'm amazed that the re-issue 95s missed the boat on the absolute compatibility and practicality of both .303 British and the 7.62X54R cartridges for the 95. Talk about a missed opportunity to sell a half million more 95s.

Thanks for bringing us along as you shot that "one of a kind" 1895 with the provenance from Winchester to prove it! At 6'7" tall, I immediately noticed that 1895 with the longer LOP. It stuck out like a sore thumb to me after a lifetime of looking for rifles and shotguns that might fit me without modification. More often than not, I wind up adding an extension like someone did to that one. On my collectibles, I will buy an aftermarket stock, when possible, to modify for my long, lanky body. That way the firearm remains collectible but I still get to shoot it! Semper Fi, TreeTop (yes, TreeTop has been my nickname all my adult life!)

Thanks for the great video on the '95! Despite having read any number of magazine articles, from the 1960s through the 1990s, featuring the '95 and viewing more than a few YT videos once the internet became a thing, I did not have the opportunity to handle one until late 2016. In that year I wandered into my favorite pawn and gun and found one (pistol grip version) languishing on the racks. I was privileged to handle the rifle but the price, which was non-negotiable, kept me from buying it though the store owner did offer to trade it for both of my much-prized Savage Model 99s. As much as I liked, and wanted, that '95 I liked my '99s too much to make the trade.

Congratulations on reaching those three milestones. I subscribed 4 weeks or so ago, and it seems to have lost me, so I subscribed again. I had an old .303 British model 95 almost 40 years ago, but sold it. It had been used pretty hard, and the barrel was all pitted from war surplus ammo with corrosive primers. They can sure ruin a bore. Anyhow I enjoy your videos and there is always something to learn from them.

Cool rifle and really neat being so original. I really enjoy your videos. My friend just sold, at a gun show today, a Springfield model 1884. We didn't even get in the door before someone was asking about it. Once the buyer looked in the bore with a bore light he dug the funds out as the bore was in excellent shape. It was all original with no refinishing work that we could tell. The guy that got it knew exactly what it was and jumped on it quickly. I personally hate seeing old guns like this go, but it was acquired through an inheritance and I assume something that was not of interest to the friend that had it. It was too high of a price for me personally, but not for the guy that got it. I think it will bring him a lot of joy in the future.

Thank you Mark. This is a truly apt celebration. The 1895 also appeals to me. I have passed on various dungers that have done their time in our NZ bush and will hopefully find a Browning replica. I would definitely change a Browning to pistol grip. Nice buy with #5175. Always worth a look when you have money burning a hole in your pocket🙂!
