How to Fix Wii Remote Not Turning on. This video we go over a simple fix on a wiimote that has battery corrosion that is keeping it from turning on. It is a pretty easy fix and should take about 5 minutes or so.
You can use vinegar on a q tip and clean the plate without removing it BUT getting it out and then back in will clean it better.

My Wii remote was gradually failing until one day it no longer turned on. To me, that was a clear indication of corrosion in the battery compartment. I followed your instructions (and sure enough found green stuff behind the contact plate), and had the remote working again in less than 10 minutes. THANK YOU!!!!!

PSA: don't leave batteries inside any type of remote, when batteries sit in unused devices for long periods, hydrogen can build up in the battery cell until the pressure causes the battery's insulating seals to breach.

Yeah I accidentally ate my Xbox controller and after I got it back it was pretty corroded, but that’s okay because my friend is borrowing it for the weekend, he won’t mind.

@@Ruitzuki it depends how much damage the acid caused, if the board of controller is covered in too much acid is unfixable, but if you have luck by changing capacitors and cleaning it with electronic cleaner it should bring it back to life

Thank you! I've been playing TLoZ Skyward Sword, which requires the use of a Motion Plus remote to play; the game is almost entirely comprised of dexterity in remote motion-based tasks. Lots of shaking and wiggling, which would knock me out of the action and into the lost connection screen, unable to resume play. Sometimes it would work after a brief break, sometimes it would give me no trouble at all. Until today... no lights, no reset button success, no flashing, nothing. This fixed my issue and saved me time and money tracking down a functioning Motion Plus remote! Thank you a million! ❤

Watching this at 2 am because somehow my wiimote started to blink like for 2 seconds and sometime not turn on at all. Getting some vinegar tomorrow because this is looking like the fix I was looking for.

If you can't get the piece out try the vinegar on a q tip and scrape off all the gunk. Good luck

I acquired a tv with a rca port so i dusted off my wii. One remote worked fine with nee batteries. The other showed no action at all. I looked for corrosion.. there was none, but i had vwhite vinegar. And tools so i did it despite tje fact i knew it was a waste of time . There were no bubbles. M. And as certain as i was it wouldn't fix it. It did. Mad props. Thanx

What if the spring coil was so corroded that it broke off? I could get fix the rust, but the battery won’t connect properly for it to work.

This worked!! But... it wasn't corrosion😅 I understood it since i tried the plate from a known good wiimote on the "broken" one, and it worked, so I tried the broken wiimote's plate on the known good one, and again, it worked! So nothing wrong with each plate or wiimote, it was probably just slightly out of place

thank you for this! I was about to throw out both of my wii remotes, but found this and it worked. the first remote it took me about 30 minutes to dislodge the metal part, but the second remote took me 10 seconds plus a minute of searching for it after it shot up in the sky. the second remote still happens to have the removed metal part pop up ever so slightly during use, making the remote turn off about every 10 minutes or so during wii sports. I've made sure to put it in really securely too. anyone know how to solve that?

It gets easier after you figure out how to get one out. If it gets loose can you jam in a small piece of aluminum foil?

My battery terminal was so rusted and what not because of the corrosion that it fell apart the moment I touched it. I basically have some dust left of it now. Is there a way to buy some cheapo china stuff to replace those because I couldn't find any as nintendo used some really weird terminals on the wiimote.
