In WW2 at least one (and probably two) Imperial Japanese Navy recon teams landed on the northern coast. One of the officers recorded what he saw....which was nothing but wilderness as far as they could see. They walked for two days along the coast and saw no traces of humans. He said 'We need to rethink our invasion plans' because the place is so remote and rugged. A group of Chinese refugees were dropped off there by people smugglers a few years ago and told to walk inland as the nearest town 'wasn't far'. They walked for two weeks without seeing any trace of a town. Luckily a station hand saw a suitcase discarded in the bush and followed their trail. Apparently they were very happy to give themselves up. One had been taken by a crocodile and the rest were too terrified to go near water after that.

One of the most underrated regions of Australia, the Kimberley is spectacular and the vid hardly even got into the onland things to see! The place showing the house overhanging the water is El Questro Station, that overlooks a Gorge, which is in the middle of the Kimberley that the sea cruises don't get to. You can stay in luxury suites there overlooking the water, for over US$2000 a night, or stay in one of their cabin/cottages for US$300 or a tent for US$130 a night. In the rainy months of Dec to April, you get some epic lightning storms as the monsoonal rains come through. You'll have to watch a video on WA's South West (wineries, amazing beaches, tall forests, snowy peaks) and the Coral Coast (swim with whale sharks & humpback whales, see pink lakes, visit amazing national parks like Karijini and Francois Peron NPs, meet the emus that like to swim and see the dolphins of Monkey Mia) Also, I'll pass on Phezz's pearl necklace! lol

I used to live up there- on an island in the Bucanneer Archipelago - it is truly a magical and stunningly beautiful area.... anyone who ever gets the chance to experience it should definitely do it.

Western Australia was one of the first land masses to be formed in the whole world..

Keep in mind this area is more remote than most places on earth, plus the boat is not a huge cruise ship with thousands of rooms to charge customers to make up the money with bulk fares...it is a small cruise ship that has limited rooms for paying customers and would have higher running costs (per person) than a huge cruise ship. Plus most fresh food like fruit and veg would be shipped from Perth or the east coast or Adelaide via Darwin so there's that. You can't really compare this sort of cruise to a Florida/Caribbean one simply beacause in the US it is bulk passengers and busy. The Kimberley cruise is exclusive, has low passenger capacity, is in a remote area and is not a bulk crrying cruise business for a large population area like Florida and the rest of the US.

Just checked their website for you - 11 day cruise from Broome to Darwin (or Darwin to Broome): Cheapest cabin is AUD$11,900 PP; most expensive is AUD$14,685 PP,, so your guess was pretty good, as that works out at AUD$1,081 to AUD$1,335 per person per night. However, in USD at today's exchange rate (AUD$1.00 = USD$0.72) that is only $778 to $961.

Being out in this country feels like you’re on mars. It’s very special. This advert is likely pretty old - the argyle mine shut down many years ago. The 'land' with the water flowin is exposed reef at low tide. There are huge tides there. 10.5m or 34.5 ft. At high tide the reef is completely submerged. The clue about the time, is the word remote. Remote means it takes time to get there. No overnight cruises.

There was a huge accidental roll over of a tourist boat at the horizontal Falls this past week.. thankfully no deaths but people were in the water with injuries..

Its a commercial cruise yacht designed for cruising that specific area.

Dinosaurs is a rather broad term. Majority of what you think of example, T-Rex, Raptor ect were both not cold blooded, nor reptiles. They were birds. However Mosasaurs the sea giant was a reptile. Random call out but anyway..

You see whale sharks here too. Day swim tours were over A$400 but it's unique and what's more they're not dangerous. Just don't get in their way. They're huge!

I don't think you understand how isolated this area is, it's a dangerous place. 18 tourists were injured up there this week at one of the horizontal falls.

You have to understand that this area is tropical, humidity you can cut with a knife. Theres a wet season, (monsoon). and a dry season, all the watefalls stop running in the dry season , so you need to go at the end of the wet and the begining ofthe dry to get the water falls shown on the video. Also the sea tides are up to 30feet between high and low tides, thats what your seeing with thewater runningof the reefs and through narrow gorges. Very expensive cruises indeed.

you can private charter these yachts they come with staff and chef . i know because my brother was a chef on one of these in this spot. its not cheap

This is a W.A.ad marketing a 5 star cruise company. Probably 7 to 10 day cruise. It's obviously marketed to those looking for a high quality cruise service and Americans as mentioned temps in F. It's potentially a 1 in a lifetime opportunity to see this brilliant part of the country so if you have the $'s, it's worth considering. Showed El Questro Station here. Another 5 star accommodation and prices aren't cheap. Checked and about $A400 (approx $US280). Need to book months ahead in the dry season as it's popular. You can camp at the station though. Plenty of other cheaper accommodation nearby. If you want to see the region, it can be done more cheaply. Fly to Kununarra from Perth. 3 to 4 star accommodation in the low to mid $US100's is available. Can walk through the little Bungles Bungles on the edge of town. It's really unique. You can go on day tours including flying over The Bungle Bungles in a helicopter or Cessna, visit El Questro, Lake Argyle and the Argyle diamond mine which produces the only pink diamonds in the world. Best ones are the rose pink colour and sell for over $200k a carat. Probably over $A1000 for the day tour now which is about $US700. Recommend it. It's a large region and need at least 4 days to see it. Cathedral Gorge worth seeing also. Fly over Mitchell Falls might be included in some Bungle Bungles tours. The region has a 11 (35 feet) metre daily tide causing these land exposures. Can take a fast boat ride through the narrow passage here so there's lot to see and do. You don't need to spend $US10k though but you won't have much spare change out of $US3K to $US4K depending where and how long you stay, and what attractions you see. Definitely put it on your must do list as you won't see anything like it anywhere else in the world.

I live in Melbourne Victoria Australia and Kimberley s are approximately 4,000 klms from me ...up north is to hot and alot of days in wet season are 100% humidity ..if you like sweating all day fine but not for me l got the great Ocean Road just 1 hour away .. gets hot in summer but you don't sweat when your not even moving ..get stuffed phezz

That river crossing is full of salt water crocodiles, and long they showed half of it. p.s. do it in a 4x4 and take your time.

Yes, it's a commercial cruise. you only see crocodiles when they feel like surfacing. Australian crocodiles can be in the rivers and in the swampy land and lakes and IN the sea.
