Craig to solve your mirror problem. the next time you are in the junkyard or at a swap meet, look for the mirror base off of a 1967 Ford f-100. they mount to the sheet metal above the windshield. they also have a place for the ends of the visor to hook onto.

I love this bodystyle I have a 68 f100 long bed with a 302 out of a 69 mustang.

Valve covers were stock units on an 83 GT Mustang.. simple "Powered By Ford" in block script in plain aluminum. I think a 1 year only option.

My 68 Galaxie had the same issue with air bubbles in a radiator, but that has a 240 inline 6 and i read that the inline 6 is notorious for getting air bubbles after a coolant flush or something like that

You need to adjust the fender if possible. Your back gap where your handle is the reference for your door. Then set the fender to the door

Doesn't water have a higher boiling point than coolant? The coolant is mostly a lubricant. Because just straight water would corrode the coolant system.

Sorry, I think your analysis of the radiator is off. More water then coolant will cool better. Water is what does the cooling and the antifreeze keeps the system from rusting and freezing. In warm climates you can run 75% water for better cooling since you don't have to worry about the system freezing. Your right about bleeding the air out on how you did it, with the thermostat opening with the cap off, then top it off. But the cap spitting coolant out onto the engine, your conclusion is off I thing. The radiator cap on how it works, there are 2 seals on it. The inner seal, seals on the inner land of the neck, when system is cooling down or overheating, or a boost in pressure, this seal opens because of pressure and suction, (this is the part that has the pressure rating). The small hose going to the cap is for this seal, for the overflow tank or it drains onto the ground. If it drains onto the ground then it will suck air back in when it cools or gets to operating temperature, end result is coolant loss with no overflow tank. The engine doing what you described is normal but with no overflow tank, the coolant is going onto the ground and sucking in air. Then the second outer seal, seals on the locking part of the neck, when you turn the cap for the 2 step lock. This second seal seals the cap onto the radiator. For coolant to pass this seal and get onto the engine means this seal is bad. Should be clear to see that it is bad. Pretty sure you need a radiator cap. Should be a 16 lb rated cap. I got a bombed out 84 grand wagoner, I put one of those "Hello, my name is Monster. I eat Hybrids." on the fender.
