UNBOXING The Ritz Carlton Credit Card (and how you can too!)

I just product changed my Chase Marriott Bonvoy credit card into the Chase Ritz Carlton card, and today we're going to do an unboxing of this card!
Since this is a secret credit card that you can no longer apply for, I'll also explain how you can get this card, the main features of this card, and why I decided to get it.
Now as you can’t apply directly for the Ritz Carlton card, there’s no sign-up bonus either, but you can still get a sign-up bonus while on the path to get this card since you need to have one of the following cards first: The Marriott Bonvoy Bold card, the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless card, or the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful card.
The best card to get first, in my opinion, is the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless card which usually has a great sign-up bonus for a very modest $95 annual fee.
Now in order to product change into this card, you must have had this card open for at least 1 year, and the card must have at least $10,000 in credit limit since it's a VISA Infinite card.
The Chase Ritz Carlton card is a luxury hotel credit card with an annual fee of $450 and comes with loads of luxury benefits, including an 85k free night award after your first cardmember anniversary.
If you can value the full $300 airline incidental credit, this cuts down the effective annual fee to just $150!
I hope that you enjoy the unboxing of the Chase Ritz Carlton card!

Where does it says au gets free GE/TSAPre? I spoke to a chase rep they said it wasn’t covered by the ritz cc. Good video bro

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure, but I think I read it somewhere. Definitely something to look in to. It's hard because since this is a discontinued card, information is sometimes not up to date. If Chase CS said that this credit isn't covered on authorized users, then maybe it isn't. Let me look into this further. I can probably look through the pamphlet from the box as well as I may be able to find it in there. Thanks for bringing this up Rodrigo!!

@@TheCreditFrogno problem. I saw the same information some months back from another KZfaqr so I gave it a shot for my wife’s GE (she’s my au) and there was no credit so I reached out to chase/ritz and they said it didn’t cover it. Hope that helps man

Just saw this so I decided to call Chase as well. They confirmed to me that it is still an active benefit on the card 🤷🏻‍♂️
@TheCreditFrog

@@emilio44 Thanks for calling as well! Tbh, it's hard to trust CS from any bank when you ask them questions so IMO, the only way to really know is if there a specific data points that people have confirming that the credit is on the card. I think the question though, is if the AUs get their own TSA Pre/GE credit. It's definitely an active benefit for the primary user.

Love how you were able to product change to still capitalize on a Marriott welcome bonus in the process of getting that pristine looking Ritz Carlton Card! The $10,000 in Credit Limit is a great point too, and definitely useful to know. That 85K free night cert is definitely going to be useful for some super nice, high-end properties! The Unlimited Free AU's definitely seems to be super useful for Player 2's also. Totally understandable to why you are focused on Marriott Keeper Cards based on your own hotel preferences. Thanks Matt! Yeah, I'm trying to build my arsenal of FNAs, and I think my final frontier is getting that last 35k FNA with the Boundless card. My first 85k FNA should be coming in next month, and I'll be able to get 2 85ks and 1 35k (Bonvoy Business) in 2024. It's a slow and steady strategy, but when it's completed, it's going to be very nice! I think the best is having at least 2 85k FNAs, so you can do like a weekend trip or something somewhere nice.

Thanks! Glad to hear that you’re enjoying the content. If your only goal is to have the most comprehensive lounge access for family members on one card, the RC is the way to go! The only issue is the lack of PP restaurants, which are getting dropped next month, and the RC card doesn’t get you access to the Sapphire Terrace lounge in AUS. The CSR is a better travel card since it has 3X dining/travel, but maybe you have a card that covers those when you’re traveling?

@TheCreditFrog
@TheCreditFrog 11 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yeah, so it's going to depend on how fast you want to go. After getting the Bonvoy Boundless card, you'll get a 35k FNA whenever they get it to you, you can go ahead and use it, and then once you've used it, you can then product change to the Ritz Carlton card with no issues, but you won't get that 85k FNA from the Ritz card for at least another year. So if you're on the path to get that 85k FNA, best to just change it right at 12 months, but if you don't mind waiting, it's probably better value to get the 35k FNA, use it, and the PC to Ritz after you've redeemed it so they can't take it back, hah!

I want this card because it’s sexy and rare in the wild🤣 but also because I travel a lot each year so I can always make use of the travel credit for seat upgrades on flights and I do love Marriott’s so I’d just stay with them even more if I were to get this card. I do have a feeling that if I get this card I’ll only keep it for a year before downgrading because I really do just want it because it’s the hot chick so to speak🤷🏽‍♂️🤣.

Haha! That's totally fine, Chris. The card is a great one to have, and it's nice that it sounds like Chase intends to keep it around. No welcome offer, but a great reason to go for an elevated Boundless offer when it comes up! The travel credit is pretty flexible, and the phone calls I make to get the card to work are usually handled well, and I never have to wait that long! If you keep it around longer than a year, you'll get an 85k FNA. You also get the most powerful Priority Pass on the market so there's that too!

Stan, your previous video persuaded me to get a Chase Boundless and product change it to Ritz. However, I have all the Amex Bonvoy cards: Brilliant, Business, and Personal (the last two were formerly my SPG cards). Since I'm grandfathered into Amex Bonvoy Personal, does that mean I'm excluded from getting the Boundless's sign up bonus? It has been 24+ months since I opened any of these cards. Great videos by the way, really useful and clear info.

Thank you so much! So in terms of your situation, the easiest way to figure this out is to go to the Chase Bonvoy Boundless page and look at their terms and conditions regarding their SUB. The only thing that I think may be an issue is the clause where it says you won't get the SUB if you "currently HAVE or HAD any of the following cards in the last 30 days: Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card, The Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express". If your previous SPG card is one of the two cards I mentioned above, then you would have to close that Amex card and wait 30 days in order to get the Bonvoy Boundless SUB.
@eridium
@eridium 11 ай бұрын
@@TheCreditFrog Thanks Stan, I believe you're right. I'm not sure it's worth canceling my Amex Bonvoy Personal card to get the Boundless SUB. The referral SUB seems to be 3x 50,000 point FNAs, which is lucrative, but I want to have the Amex Personal for the long-run, annual 35k FNAs. And to get another Bonvoy Personal, I'd have to product change my Brilliant to Personal and then open a new Brilliant. Seems like too much opening and closing of accounts. I don't want to get in trouble with any of the issuing banks. Guess I'll just get the Boundless with no sign-up and convert to Ritz in a year. Interesting and complex procedure, but worth the effort!

I think it may be worthwhile to get the Platinum card first and see how you're able to use that card. With the Ritz card, you get value by using the $300 airline incidental credit and the 85k FNA. The Platinum also gets you a $200 incidental credit. The biggest feature is that this card is primarily for those who stay at Marriott properties, like you mentioned. The other cards on your list are all flexible point earnings cards that can be transferred out to transfer partners and are probably best to start out with your first travel card. If this is your first travel card, I think the CSP would be the best value as you get access to transfer partners and some elevated benefits for a modest annual fee. The VX is also another option if you don't mind a higher annual fee, but don't mind using the C1 travel portal for the $300 statement credit.

Good question Kevin! So you can product change at any time.
