About this video: This video is our complete guide on how to make a Minecraft server for free. We cover everything in this video from where to download the Minecraft server files to how to create a Minecraft server and start playing Minecraft with your friends all for free. This is all done on your own PC using your own internet meaning as long as you have a good PC and internet you can start a Minecraft server for free using this video!
To get started, we need to go over how to download the Minecraft server files. To do this, go to the first link in the description above. That will take you to our in-depth text guide on making a Minecraft server. If you’d rather have a Minecraft server mods or plugins, that video will help you make a server with those. In this video, we are making a vanilla Minecraft server.
In our Minecraft server guide, click the “Download Minecraft” button to go to the official Minecraft server download page. On this on this page, click on the “minecraft_server_version.jar” link to start downloading the Minecraft server.jar file. You may need to keep or save this file depending on your browser.
It also worth noting that you may need to download Java in order to start your Minecraft server. In the description above, there is a link to download Java for Minecraft servers that covers everything you need to know. The Jarfix is also linked. We recommend running this after installing Java in order to be able to start your server.
From here, create a new “Minecraft Server” folder on your desktop and move the server.jar file you downloaded into it. Then, open this folder and double-click the server.jar. The server will attempt to start, but it will fail. You will now have some files and folders in your Minecraft Server folder though.
Once of these files will be the “eula.txt” file. Open this file and assuming you agree to the Minecraft EULA, change “eula=false” to “eula=true” and save the file. Then, double-click the server.jar again and your server will start. You now know how to make a Minecraft server for free.
You can now join your Minecraft server. Just open Minecraft and join the server using the IP address “localhost”. This is a great way to test your server and make sure that it is online and running.
However, if you want to be able to play Minecraft with your friends for free, you will need to port forward. There is an in-depth guide on port forwarding a Minecraft server in the description above. The quick overview though is that you need to forward the port 25565 on the TCP and UDP protocols. From there, your friends will join your server using your public IP.
With that being said, you now know how to make a Minecraft server for free. If you have any questions about how to create a free Minecraft server, let us know in the comments. We will try our best to help you out.
Otherwise, if we did help you setup a Minecraft server for free on your computer, please give this video a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel if you haven’t already. It really helps us out, and it means a ton to me. Thanks in advance!
