I know, right? In such a scenario I'm pretty sure their owner would just beat the living crap out of them. On top of that, they didn't even really achieve anything, the casino was most probably insured and it will be a minor setback in the owners wallet. Also, the animals are like, on the border of the city, they will just catch them again.

Please hear me out. I used to utterly despise this movie until about a week ago. I still am bored by most of it, and I still wish Luke hadn't been an old hobo. I by no means think this is a great story. But 1. If ur gonna blame anyone for Luke's arc, blame JJ. He wrote Luke in Episode 7 as having been on a tiny island for six years. What was Rian supposed to do, say Luke still can't find the jedi temple on that 1-acre island? Say he's too scared to fight? This was the best Rian could do, and he has Luke redeeming himself in the end. 2. Forget most of the movie. The parts with Luke or Kylo are interesting, if u can accept Luke's arc. Then, the best part of all, is when they're together on Crait. I used to hate the Crait battle. And I still don't like the beginning of it, or Rose's awful line after crashing into Finn. But once Luke arrives, and he gets that moment with Leia. The music kicks in, he kisses his little sister on the head one last time, the music rises even more, resistance fighters lift their heads to witness THE Luke Skywalker, and with a classic John Williams theme that gives me chills, he walks out to face down the entire First Order with nothing but a laser sword. But there's a twist. One that used to piss me off. I complained, "why didn't Luke actually go to Crait?" Well, aside from the fact that he didn't actually want to kill his nephew, we also have to remember what Vader (kinda) says in the very first Star Wars: "technological terrors are insignificant next to the power of the force". Luke proceeds to straight PUNK Kylo with a clever new force ability we haven't seen before (it's good that they aren't recycling the same old things, and it's good that they didn't make it OP- using the power causes you to die). So Luke creates the spark that will light the fire that will burn the First Order down, and he did it without ever taking a single real swing, or putting anyone in danger. Aka, by going back to the Jedi's roots. The answer isn't to end the Jedi, it's to revive what they were meant to be, before they became corrupted. By not going to Crait, he didn't have to kill his nephew, the First Order didn't get ammunition for their propaganda, getting to say they killed the mighty Luke Skywalker so the galaxy might as well give up. Instead, the Resistance saw him take on the First Order and win. They saw him take a hundred blaster shots and a lightsaber through the body without getting a scratch. So while the movie was kinda boring and weird, everything with Luke, especially on Crait, is amazing, even if I'd rather the movie not exist. Since it does exist, we might as well enjoy these few brilliant scenes with our hero, Luke Skywalker, straight owning the dark side yet again. Not to mention, say what you will about his script, Rian's directing, the visuals, John Williams's music, and the acting of Mark and Adam really make these scenes beautiful. Those two actors really sell it. Adam perfectly sells Kylo being had, like he's completely befuddled. I encourage everyone to not make the same mistake I did. I was so busy feeling bad about Luke failing to rebuild the Jedi Order and being a hobo that I couldn't enjoy the great things this film had to offer, even if it was only a few. I couldn't even see the intent. I just interpreted everything in the least charitable light because of how the film started- with Luke tossing his saber. Not to mention Disney was already going to be intensely scrutinized, and we as a fan base had a bias against them, and thought they probably didn't know what they were doing. It turns out that, while that's kinda true, Rian's film is actually a lot deeper and meaningful than I previously realized. At least the stuff with Luke. Everything else is meh

The dialogue was bad and some scenes were annoying, especially those with Jar Jar Binks, but as a whole they enhanced the story in the originals. @@ryanboggs8685 The sequels arent even as well shot as the prequels. Maybe from a contemporary point of view the acting is better , but even that is problematic because its not Star Wars acting. People complain about the prequel acting but it is more similar to the OT acting than the ST acting is. In TFA, the camera zips and zooms and doesn't stand still enough to display any kind of epic visuals like we got in the first six movies. The movie is just a bunch of action scenes spliced together, and there is no time for reflection and therefore no time for character development. The movie is very loud all the time, and there is no time to develop any kind of tension.

So they killed Han, Luke and Leia, Finn's character arc was negated and he reverted back into a coward, Rey turned from a marry sue into a SUPER ULTRA GOD-MOD SUE, and the movie portrayed Poe, the only sane man on the rebel's side, as a dangerous rogue that needs to be thought a lesson from Vice-admiral Gender studies. How to make Finn a better character. They should have never made him a janitor (which apparently was for comedy) instead a trooper who had killed Innocents (have him murder villagers in the force awakens) and he has this journey of pushing himself harder than any other rebel because he wants to atone for his atrocities. Later on through the trilogy if someone ever asked him if he feels he has atoned, he would tell them that no, that no matter how many people he saves, he still sees the villagers he killed in his nightmares, and he now knows he can never atone for what he did. A character that gritty and conflicted would have been far better, add some comedy SOMETIMES but keep him mainly a soldier who will forever seek to forgive himself, but may never achieve that. I really feel he was wasted for the sake of comedy.

What I was expecting from last Jedi before release was that Rey joined Kylo and Finn ended up being the last Jedi. Would've made for a decent change of pace if written correctly but 'meh'

SJW brainwashing aside, this was just a poorly written story. So many plotholes, loose threads from TFA, poor character development, story lines that went nowhere. But their worst sin was how they treated Luke. LUKE SKYWALKER....got down on his hands and knees....and drank titty milk from an alien walrus....I usually make fun of people that say "muuuhhh this ruined my childhood!" but God damn, this came close.

The fact that some characters are iconic to us, doesnt mean that the story has to give them a special treatment...reading all this comments make me realize that all what this fans wanted from this movie is fan service..just like in Rogue One (poorly character developed movie by the way) but..it has Vader slaying rebels... so who cares...the movie rules ! ...pathetic.

Javier: No, I didn't want fan service; just a good movie with a compelling story. They should leave the deconstruction to Family Guy. There's no reason Disney has to deconstruct Star Wars.

Rogue One was the only decent “new” Star Wars movie. There was genuine sacrifice for something important. I was uplifted even through the “sad”end.. because it meant something. It had a moral core that is completely absent from the other new movies

In defense of the "light speed used as a weapon" scene I always thought of it like this, she hit lightspeed, then turned it off immediately, causing a gravitational wave to be emitted. Kinda like flooring the car and then slamming on the brakes, the force that pushes forward. It's exactly how Bremstrung Radiation is created. When you go get an X-Ray at the doctor's office all the machine does is boil off electrons from the filliment (tungsten metal) then use Killivoltage to shoot those electrons on to the target (another source of Trungsten) and those electrons suddenly decelerating causes X-ray to be produced. So I mean the science is there.

Thinking back on Yoda's description of the dark side "Quicker, easier, more seductive." That's Rey's journey in a nutshell. No training, no hard work, she just gets uber powers. That's the dark side.
@ErikBlomqvistSwe6 жыл бұрын
Just as Anakin could handle a pod racer at 947 kph as a 9-year old, without any training, you mean?
@brndnwilks6 жыл бұрын
Anakin states that he had been in pod races before, just never finished one. We can infer that he has had some training (most likely self taught) and that he has experience pod racing. Additionally his connection to the force simply gave him quicker reflexes in piloting the craft, it doesn't equate to Rey being able to use force powers in a day that took Anakin, Luke and all other force users years to learn
@ErikBlomqvistSwe6 жыл бұрын
We've rarely seen what people connected to the Force can do at their earliest stages. Luke could see the Marksman-H combat remote without any vision, just by some basic "feedback" from Obi-Wan. Same thing with Rey, she could see things by some basic "feedback" from Luke, but she could not control it - at all.
@brndnwilks6 жыл бұрын
I respectfully disagree. Luke blocking shots from the combat drone with help from a Master is shown to be a basic exercise for younglings, his only other use of the force in the first movie was enhanced perception and reflexes while piloting in order to destroy the deathstar. He doesn't showcase his ability to force pull his saber(poorly) until the second movie set 2-3 years after the first, the jedi mind trick in the third movie set 4-5 years after the first and after grueling training with Yoda. Rey displays force pull(against a more well trained opponent) and the mind trick on her first day, as well as beating a highly trained opponent with a lightsaber with absolutely no training for any of it(Pre-meeting Luke). The dark side = Quicker, faster, etc. That's Rey, she hasn't earned anything.

This is from TFA when Han and Finn land on Starkiller base. It was extremely racist, but no one called out Disney and J.J. Double standards in Hollywood. Further, there are great female leads in other SW properties, but Ep. 8 did nothing to further Daisy’s character. We don’t really connect with her fears and hopes.
@Tribulation_Harvest6 жыл бұрын
Part of Star Wars is about how people who seem to live ordinary lives, lives going nowhere, can suddenly be thrust into situations where they become more than what they thought they could be. Finn being a janitor isn't about being racist, it's about his humble beginnings... a janitor who would become a hero. Unfortunately, they haven't handled his character well. They could have done a lot more with him.

You were on point until you said the Last Jedi was better than the force Awakens. At least the Force awakens had a plot and created anticipation for a sequel. The last Jedi single handedly destroyed a franchise where its affects were felt throughout the galaxy.

C'mon, Last Jedi was fantastic, I think the scene with Ray and Kylo after they kill snoke and the guards is probably one of the top 3 finest moments in Star Wars, when Kylo puts out his hand and asks ray to join him the emotional impact of the scene is only equaled by "Luke, I am your father." In some senses the emotional impact of the Kylo and Ray saga is greater because we really don't know that much about Darth Vader in episode 5 so the "I am your father" scene is really only powerful because of Luke's journey, however the Ray Kylo scene is a pivotal point for BOTH Ray and Kylo, who, together with luke, form the core of the Sequel trilogy.
@manniman825 жыл бұрын
They're both trash. TFA was a scene for scene lower quality rehash of A New hope, replacing the every day man Luke with a Mary sue. The plot points are incoherently connected, their only worry was to evoke nostalgia for episode 4. TLJ, was the work of an egomaniac that decided to shit on everything Star Wars had been up until then, an incoherent mess THAT STILL was a rehash of episodes 5-6. Both are creative failures and it's no wonder that everything Star Wars has been trending down since TLJ came out.
