Instagram - AdamTheWooATW Expect to see more content similar to this for a while . I’ll mix in a couple other subjects too here and there but have a lot of filming locations in mind till end of year or after . Some will be well known and some very obscure , just going with that I enjoy . Took last couple weeks off to rethink the future of this channel and realized I need to focus on quirky passion projects . So, for now ...I will

This video was great, I love the filming locations!! 99% of us aren’t in Hollywood and would like to see these locations so the only way is videos like yours, you also did a great job lining up the landmarks and showing correct perspective. So excited for more! I have read about the old DeliLu studios before and that little area where town was placed for the show. Here is a link to some cool info I found some time back: www.retroweb.com/40acres_final_years.html

Watching the old Andy Griffith Show reruns has gotten me through "The 'Rona" lockdown (and semi-lockdown). The enduring warmth and whimsical humor are a reminder of an era when there was at least a tip o' the hat to human decency. Great way to wind down in the evening. Thanks for this really interesting background info -- and welcome back!

@kes....I listened to some Andy Griffith interviews, where he was quite candid about the show. In one, he observed the culture Mayberry portrayed, never existed anywhere in the USA. In effect, it was a fantasy. That was--is--the power of illusion. Indeed, there are fans that to this day, that will curse you if you say otherwise. Anyway, as a boy I loved this show.

I really like how you took us to Meyer’s Lake, what a treat. June of 2019, I took the family down to Mount Airy, N.C., and I had the privilege of meeting Betty Lynn (Thelma Lou), had my photo taken with her, and she even kissed me on the cheek. Adam this blew my mind and I am grateful to you for this video. I have a story for you. The Andy Griffith show for myself and for many is a refuge from life's challenges. Immersing yourself in Mayberry is food for the soul as you know. Here is the story. I work at Indiana University as an IT computer programmer and I specialized in VR technology. In 2015 IU alumni, Mark Cuban, donated to IU to help our athletics department with new technologies for sports media technology. Part of this donation was to send a delegation of IU leaders and engineers to meet with technology companies that Mr. Cuban works with. I was lucky enough to be part of this delegation. As you can imagine we didn't have much time for sight seeing, but our schedule brought us to RED studios Hollywood. There was a brief mention that this space had be Desilu Productions, but I had no idea of the other depths of American art and history that once walked/worked in these silent halls. When I look back it feels like I unknowingly walked through Mayberry and a bygone era of Hollywood and it gives me a chill. Truly amazing.

@@TheDailyWoo I met Don Knotts after he gave an interview on a Kansas City radio station. I feel good that I made him smile. I had him sign a cheapy VCR tape box of "The Best of Barney Fife." I flattened it and had him sign one of the tuck in flaps. I gave it to him and he placed it under some papers he had to sign without really seeing it. When he pulled the last paper off of the box, he saw this cartoonish drawing of him as Barney on the front. He saw it, smiled real big, kinda pausing for a moment and then asked me where I would like it signed. I'll never forget seeing his reaction when he saw that box.

I’ve been obsessed with the 40 Acres backlot and the Andy Griffith Show for over 20 years. I’ve watched every video and read every website about it. This was great! Thank you. I’d like to walk those hallowed grounds some day. I’m interested in where things happened. Especially where movies and TV shows were filmed. I’m always researching it. You should do a video on where “It’s a Wonderful Life” was filmed. It was at RKO Radio Pictures Studios in Culver City, California, and the 89-acre RKO movie ranch in Encino, where "Bedford Falls" was built. It’s a quiet neighborhood now. I’m sure the residents there don’t realize they’re living in Bedford Falls. It’s fascinating to line up the aerial photos of the back lot in the 1940’s with Google Earth views today and see where George Bailey’s house was, where the Main Street and all the shops were. That would make a great video. Love all you do. Really fun to watch your stuff. You are very committed to this. How do you find the time?? Keep up the great work!

Great video! I’m a huge Andy Griffith Show fan and love seeing these old locations even if they don’t look the same anymore. I know there exists some home movies that were shot on the set of the show. I believe, and don’t quote me on this, they were filmed by Rance Howard and it shows the cast hanging out and playing around on set. You can see a lot of the background scenery and buildings that production would normally try to obscure during actual filming.

I agree. I used to watch this show growing up (50 yrs ago I was 12) with my parents. My parents didn't always let me watch TV but this show they allowed me to watch because it was clean and pure.

These are the ones I really like because Andy Griffith happens to be one of the shows my mom watches all the time along with I Love Lucy and Mama's family. I always show her these because it's something that they had no way of knowing or finding out back in the day unless you were from Hollyweird. You put all of it in a nice clean fully explained, researched and documented package and she always gets a kick out it. Much appreciated.

I used to watch Andy Of Mayberry when I was 12 years old, back in 1964, on up till the Andy Of Mayberry Show stopped running. I loved the intro song, with the whistling, and all....always thought the world of Andy Griffith and Little "Opie"..Ron Howard. I would love to be able to go visit Mount Airy, North Carolina.."Andy Of Mayberry" Style. This was one of the Best Shows I have ever watched. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
