I love the fact that he is like the little old neighbour will pop in for coffee and checks on his neighbours every street needs a Oliver I love it he is such a sweetie.

15 years is a very long life for a Retriever. His sweet spirit brought so much joy to his family and the community. What a special little guy. 😇

That is so cool that he goes to his friends house everyday and everybody watches out for him he just has his own little schedule of his own little playdates that he plans himself

My mother had a similar situation with the neighbors cat. He was over her house just about every day, and even stayed the night sometimes. He visited her for 15 years, until he got old and sick. Best cat I ever knew.

We had a similar experience with Scooby, a golden/lab mix. We would send notes to his family on his collar. Eventually we adopted him from our neighbors when he was 9, and we were happy to call him our dog for eleven wonderful years! I'm honored he chose us.

Oliver used to come and hang at our house too! How cool to see this video! He would just walk right in! We loved Ollie so much! He spent many parties with us just a few houses away! ❤

My mom had a neighbor dog like this. They moved in and the first night my mom got up to go to the bathroom at 3am and there was a big golden lab lying on the foot of the bed. Miss Maya would come over daily. My mom’s partner was on oxygen lines so the back door wasn’t fully shut. Sometimes mom would come home and Maya was on the sofa waiting for her. When my mom was done with a visits she would give Maya a treat and she would head home next door. My mom was older so it was like grandma time - all the joy and mom of the work. She died right before my mom did. ❤️

I got new neighbors and when we finally met them they said they had already met my dog as she went onto their deck and joined them for dinner their first night there! What a welcome!!

I can't believe how miraclous it is that nothing bad happened to him for that long period of time. I can't believe it. I wish my dog could live in such neighborhood and just enjoy life. It's great.

I just saw this video for the first time and then checked him out on Instagram. This lovely little soul passed away about 30 weeks ago...what a loss for the family and the entire community. My love and condolences to the family and the neighborhood...peace, and love.

Sadly Oliver became Heaven's newest Dog Saint he passed away recently in his sleep of old age . But Oliver's legacy of being a good neighbor lives on Instagram ( mostly on the Pudge the Pit Instagram page) several Dodo KZfaq videos and elsewhere . He was a gentle soul of doggo till the end.

Growing up, we had a neighbor who owned a small Border collie who was the smartest dog we had ever met! Tasha was trained & well behaved, and would come over to our house every weekday while her owner was at work. She would arrive at 8:30am, and always seemed to know when it was 5pm! She was such an intelligent animal! She first started coming over to see our dogs and kids when they were younger, and continued doing so for about 15 years. She was such a fixture in our house, that most people thought she was our dog! In fact, Tasha once got accidentally locked in my parents house when they took me out to the west coast for a college tour (fortunately my grandmother had a key to the house to let the dog out!) Tasha died at age 17, and is still fondly remembered by my siblings after almost 45 years. I’ve always loved Border Collie’s because of that dog! 😊

Also so sorry for your loss of Oliver but what a wonderful dog , he had so much to give

Can you imagine a fluffy, old grandpa dog coming over to you while you’re having a picnic and just laying down beside you? I would honestly cry tears of joy. I love Oliver.

Just read that Oliver has passed. No doubt he touched many lives, mine included and I never had the honor of meeting him. My heart goes out to everyone that had their lives touched by Oliver. Undoubtedly he will be missed. I truly believe the heaven has a special place and that place is somehow a little brighter.

Why does Oliver do this? Because he can, thats why.

I had a German Shepherd named Bobo. I lived in an apartment at one time with Bobo and I met a neighbor that I did not know. However, the neighbor knew Bobo. He told me that Bobo came over every Wednesday night and they watched mash together and had popcorn. This video brought back such wonderful memories. Thank you. Bobo is in heaven now with all the other dogs.

We had a golden retriever who was like Oliver. He used to visit the summer cottages in the summer. They all loved him. He has since passed and is missed very much.

This is proof that when you see an older dog at the shelter, their age doesn't matter. They're still fun and sweet... they just need someone to give them a chance and love them back. ❤

I do believe that Oliver was on earth with an assignment as an angel . That dog seemed like one of a kind.

I LOVE this! Oliver was living his best life with people who loved him. How sad that he died, but he passed away with so many people loving him.

My golden retriever actually used to do this exact same thing before she passed away. She'd walk around the neighborhood and come into people's homes, she was smart enough to always be able to avoid the cars and stick to the sidewalk (it was an out of the way subdivision too thankfully with a low speed limit). We'd put her outside, and then we'd get a call from a neighbor saying "Happy came over to visit." She died peacefully.

The most heartbreaking thing is that he’s already so old, I hope the best for Good ‘ol Oliver 🥰

What a great dog. He brought neighbors together in a way that probably would never happen without him being the glue. This is what owning dogs is all about! He lived an amazing life full of humans who loved him. RIP pup.

I was on a crew that was painting a residence. Every morning, the neighbor’s golden would come by, go to every crew member to greet us and say howdy. Then, he would go on a circuit to all the other neighbor’s to say howdy. Too cool.

This is one of the cutest, most adorable things I have ever seen. Oliver is like an old man that refuses to stop driving. When Oliver passes, he's going to have hundreds of people in tears.

I laughed through the entire video. Oliver just saunters around, like he’s a distinguished old man. He’s such a gentle soul. I’m glad he gets the reception he gets from the people he visits. I guess his visits are like clockwork. If I lived wherever Oliver lives, he’d be a very welcomed guest in my house.

I don't think he's wandering at all, he's a acting a lot like a livestock guardian dog would. This neighborhood is his territory and his watch and the people and dogs within it are his charges. He has to check in and spend time with all of them according to his schedule.

I love how the community worked together to provide Oliver with the independence and multiple families he required. Kudos especially to Sue, who recognized this and let him go, and Melissa, who opened her home and welcomed him in. 💞

Dogs deserve to live longer

1: Golden Retrievers are the absolute best. 2: The fact that Oliver is essentially a community dog is absolutely heartwarming. Just doing his rounds around the neighborhood, paying everyone a visit and making them smile before heading home for the evening is really awesome.

Goldens are the best. Had my first from 4 y/o to 19. I’m in 60’s now and we have a Golden big surprise. This one has never had a negative experience and is so innocent it’s crazy. He just wants to be everyone’s buddy. And on the 7th day God just couldn’t stand not creating something, so he gave us Golden Retrievers to show us humans how to act.

Dogs are pack animals. Oliver collected himself a nice pack & checked on them every day.

Melissa sounds like his mother when she says, “Bye, Ol! See you for lunch!” And I mean that in the best way possible. Their relationship is so sweet!

We had a neighborhood turkey that would go house to house visiting everyone. His name was “One-Eyed Charlie”. He was a rescue that had been hit by a car. Our neighbor has a farm with many animals and he was originally meant to be someone’s Thanksgiving dinner. After he was hit by a car and survived, only losing an eye, they didn’t have the heart to do that so my neighbor took him in as a pet. He would come to all our picnics and visit the kids playing outside.

Oliver was an angel sent to teach people what love is. Oliver is now another creature somewhere teaching others what love is.

Nevermind the ritual, it's impressive he's lived to 14. For large breeds, that's easily over 100.

I once had a neighbor's cat like Oliver. Used to come visit whenever he wanted, sometimes decided to stay overnight, and I'd call his mom so she wouldn't worry. He used to yell-meow loudly at our front door when he wanted to come in. And if he wasn't ready to leave yet after a visit, he wouldn't budge. You could keep the front door open all you want, but he'd just yawn, curl up in a comfy chair and say, "Nope, not leaving." He also brought us a Christmas present of a dead mouse. Dropped it on our door mat on Christmas morning. Miss you, Lambie!

It’s so freaking cool and adorable how he goes back home every single time like he knows he has his own home but just loves hanging out with his neighbors

We had a black lab, that would “wonder “. He would be gone for hours. When he passed, the construction guys, from the next neighborhood, found out and were really sad. They used to give him treats and a lot of love.

My dog Wilson died 6 weeks ago he was over 15 every day he’d start at the right side of the back yard and take a walk following the fence all the way around to the left side (big back yard & he was a Shih Tzu) it took him about an hour. I Miss Wilson So Much.

I love that the doggo has friends that he visits like it’s normal.

Rest in peace Oliver. My neighbor had a cat named, T.Y. he would come over almost every day in the summer and lay under the tree with my senior Pitbull. I didn't realize how close they were until my dog had surgery to remove a tumor. When I brought him home it was nice out so I let him lay under his tree, when I went out to check on him, there was T.Y. right by his side and he didn't want anyone coming close to his friend. My dog Griffin and T.Y. both lived long lives but have since passed. I miss them and always think of them when I'm outside and I see their tree.

Aren't dogs the best. So kind of you to welcome this beautiful dog. Just lost ours of 18 yrs. We miss her so much so this was just a blessing to watch.
