Like, the more collectibles you collect and bases you liberate, the worse the actual ending will be because your underlying mission was built on false pretenses? Maybe the map towers you almost inevitably have to activate end up interfering with the existing communications infrastructure, severely delaying or even outright preventing Emergency Service response to those districts during whatever crisis is ongoing? The good ending might only be achieved by doing something like looking up the relevant laws and reporting the person sending you on the mission to the appropriate agency, or perhaps deliberately failing every invasion repelling mission, thereby getting your somewhat subtly extremely corrupt government overthrown by a foreign government that is at least marginally less corrupt and has legitimate grievances against your own.

I'd imagine it'd be that the open world stealth action sandbox is a coping mechanism for the main character facing mental abuse as their parents are trying to wipe away their identity beyond the child of their parents. Trying to wipe away any choice beyond the life their parents set out for them. Also the parents are extremely racist and want their child to be a racist like them

@viljamtheninja
@viljamtheninja 4 жыл бұрын
@@Kamfrenchie Here's what I know: their elections are always rigged, even though Lukashenko (or however you spell it) always wins them due to popularity in the countryside. But the rigged numbers look better. The rigging is at least partially done by fake votes for Lukashenko dropped in the voting boxes in the weeks leading up to the final election day, that are, after the voting is over, ascribed to the names of registered voters who didn't vote. This year they had already announced that about 40% of people had voted early for Lukashenko, but as it turns out, people are not only starting to vote against him, but those who usually don't vote are getting angry because they've realized that their votes are used in their absence. So more people are voting this year and more people are voting against Lukashenko, so with their early announcement in mind, the numbers might end up exceeding 100% of available votes. So he has to stop people from voting, so he's been intentionally creating delays on election day at election booths; many countries (including mine; Sweden) have had embassies with voting lines moving at a snail's pace, finally closing in the face of many, many registered voters who would've voted against Lukashenko. Then mass arrests of protesters and opposition started, and his main opposition party leader has fled the country. This is just off the top of my head from what I've read recently so I might get a detail wrong here and there but that's about it.

One part of the game that I thought was pretty cool was the guiding wind mechanic. Having a breeze blow through to show you which way to go was a clever step up from the usual floating arrow or waypoint marker. Overall, I think the game did a really good job with a minimalist interface, using environmental cues to nudge you in the right direction while never outright telling you "Go here next". Still though, I agree with Yahtzee that it's just fancy window dressing on an otherwise overdone game genre.

The foreman points out a huge pile of sand and says to the Italian, "You're in charge of sweeping." To the Scotsman he says, "You're in charge of shovelling." And to the Chinese man he says, "You're in charge of supplies." So the foreman goes away for a couple of hours and when he returns, the pile of sand is untouched. He asks the Italian, "Why didn't you sweep any of it?" He replies "I no hava no broom, you saida to the Chinese guy that he wasa ina charge of supplies, but he hasa disappeared and I no coulda finda him nowhere." The foreman turns to the Scotsman and says, "And you, I thought I told you to shovel this pile." He replied, "Aye, ye did lad, bit ah couldnae git masel' a shuvl! Ye left thon wee Chinese mannie in chairge of supplies, bit ah couldnae fin' him onywhar." The foreman is really pissed off now and storms off towards the pile of sand to look for the Chinese guy. It seems like they wanted to have a morality system ( glad they didn't, gettin tired of that shit), but stopped at the last minute. They hint at there being direct consequences for your actions through out the entire game. In the end even tho it's another collect-a-thon, i was still so in love with the aesthetic and atmosphere that the collectables were actually enjoyable. It didn't feel like chore to do them, in fact i felt compelled to complete them. I've never had graphics and style be the major factor in my enjoyment of a game before. And the photo mode was a Fantastic addition. It's made the enjoyment of the visual last so much longer. Even tho i was bured out on open world games almost entirely. This one completely captured me. Not perfect, but close enough
@ctographerm3285
@ctographerm3285 4 жыл бұрын
It sorta actually has a morality system, but the effect is largely cosmetic. What gets weighed is how much 'dishonorable' kills you make VS the 'honorable' ones. Doing more of the former makes the skies often more gloomy and stormy, while the latter results in sunny and clear weather. ...though what counts as 'dishonorable' is kinda unclear. Just prompted stealth kills? How about stealth arrow heads shots? What about Mongols you kill with NInja tools or bombs? Also, the weather effect is mostly annoying, because a NInja run feels like you're in the perpetually gloomy UK rather than Japan. And while you can change that with your hand-dandy magical flute of weather control, it felt like you had to do it ever 10-15 minutes if you prefer clear weather.

@LordMacKarl "With bigger and more expansive worlds, the developer faces unique challenges that stem from keeping the player engaged. While it is true that some gamers would be content in "enjoying the atmosphere," most players would get quickly bored because achieving immersion is a mindset, not a destination." "Because of how competitive the market is and the player-base has become, most players are aware that they are playing a game; therefore if you do not provide distraction from that as a developer, then you have failed as a developer." These were two statements that were copy-pasted to us often. It seems that developers have come to the consensus that players play games to play games and that's it. It's just a lot of convolution in my opinion. When it came to the "Psychology of Play", there were tons of confliction. It pretty much boils down to: "You can't please everyone, so don't try to. So in other words: If you've never played an Assassin's Creed or Tom Clancy game, you'll absolutely love Ghost Of Tsushima. Sounds good, I'm in.

I found Assassin's Creed boring yet still loved this. Then again I'm a sucker for sword combat and character driven stories.

No ,if you lived under a rock basically. This game follows the pattern of all Sony exclusives from Horizon to God of ear to Spiderman to Days Gone to Last of Us

Does one have to pick the flowers? I'll elaborate: flower picking obviously enhances the gameplay for those who want to pick flowers. If it doesn't harm other gameplay mechanics then let it be.

I find it odd how, at launch everyone was heaping praise on GoT for being a more refined Assassin's Creed, but as Yahtzee points out here, it's still made from the same blueprint, with only some of the guff taken out.

@Ryoshikari No you have to be 100% original. Doing something that has been done (Even if you did it better and with passion and actually cared) doesn't matter. 100% original. Yeah Yahtzee has been getting rather boring for me too on this one. Still playing and enjoying. Is it more of something that I enjoy. Yes, but it is something with more passion and a motif that I havent' seen done in a long while. So now plot is window dressing. Yeah.....think I am going to give up on the Escapist soon. It's just going downhill.

@@als3022 Man,you fanboys would come out with the lamest excuse to deny the game being utterly generic.Your point about "100% original" would have worked if this wasn't the genre that almost all of the Sony exclusives and good chunk of AAA games are put under.This game could have done different easily to stand out. Horizon is also a collect-a-thon but it also had a very unique setting.Machine dinosaurs and you fight with bows and arrows?. Different. God of war had its own new form of gameplay with the Leviathan axe to compensate. This game has NOTHING.Its the same old stuff that we have been doing since the start of this generation 7 years ago. And Boo hoo,"Hur dur passion and care".That means jackshit. Micheal Bay goes for pay check to pay check making cynical movies meant to make money .His film Pearl Harbour was the only time he actually cared and was passionate about something and that film is shit.Alot of badly made stuff have had passion and care behind them.Doesnt mean we excuse their crap. Also save us the shit from a first party studio making game for "Passion".This was made because corporate wanted it. And you don't get certificates because you made it "better".Wasn't it better enough to compensate the game being generic as shit?. Unfortunately for you,it wasn't.

@@abdullahahmad4239 what's generic about writing poetry in a videogame? what's generic about the weather reflecting the way you dispose of enemies. what's generic about the games art design? what's generic about it's multiple systems to guide a player without hud elements? What's generic about the setting? Or is the only problem that it shares a genre with maybe too many other games.
