This is one of the most horrific crimes committed by two so called human beings that I have heard. And to think the so called "friend " drove a car while the dear child was being killed is beyond understanding and she could have slammed on her brakes and stopped the murder from occurring makes both the women equally responsible and both should have received the death penalty for their crime. My heart really goes out to the family and Law Enforcement that were involved in solving this case. I don't want anyone to tell me I don't know what I would have done in the same situation because I do. First I would have knocked my friend out, tried to anyway, then I would have pulled the vehicle over and protected the child. They both got what they deserved. Anyone with jealousy, such as hers, believes she's the ONLY one entitled to attention, especially in intimate relationships. She believed all attention that her husband had was meant for her, and her only. She's a Narcissistic Psychopath. That poor little boy, all this could've been avoided.

She wasn't a "grown woman". She was a childish, immature monster that wanted all of her husband's attention. Hope she faces karma in prison once they find out she's a child killer. @Lassi Kinnunen 81 As a matter of policy, schools should in the first place find it odd that somebody would pick up a student in the middle of a school day in the first place. But when this happens, an administrator should be called upon who should check the photo ID and copy it, ask them what is the nature of pulling them out of the class, and before all of this starts, when the parent and enrolls the child for the school year, have a form of the parent fills out listing who is authorized to pick them up in an emergency. And of course nowadays this would be done digitally through the online enrollment portal. I don't have any specifics, but I've heard Chuck-E-Cheese had a few high-profile abductions and now they have security measures in place to prevent this. And it's not very complicated.

Man, I told my boyfriend at the time something personal that a friend of mine had told me about herself, not realizing it was a secret. When I mention it to her, that he had some interesting insights (proof I honestly didn't realize it was a secret) she hit the roof and did't talk to me for 3 yrs. And then I see all these crime committed and just marvel at what one friend will do for other and just wonder if I need to upgrade my definition of friend, upgrade and demand more of people if they want to be my friend or is something out wack with me. The song "Thats what Friends are For" keeps rolling around in my head.

@Jacob Michael David Benson At this point, this is not just about "helping a friend", but more of self-preservation. She most probably realized how her participation have allowed the maltreatment of the child by her friend & that there's no way this is going to end good for her. While she may not have had a motive to kill the kid, now she does. But really, would you believe the words of someone who "helped" aka participated in this crime?

In the crazy out of control situation, she panicked, and her brain wasn't able to tell her what to do, so she just kept doing what she was doing. She probably didn't even realize she kept driving or where she was driving to until after the fact. And her threat of blaming her was probably pretty solid. She WAS the last person seen with the child alive (even if she was wearing a disguise).

Donald Baker filed a civil lawsuit against the Clay County Board of Education, and the school secretary for releasing Scotty to Susanne that day without proper permission. Charges were dropped against the secretary due to her entitlement to qualified immunity. The Clay County Board of Education did have policies in place regarding the process of removing students in school. Those processes didn’t always get followed according to the secretary who allowed Scotty to leave. Ultimately, the lawsuit was dismissed, however the school board did tighten it’s student check out policies.

agreed. This is why action should have been taken as soon as the boy started complaining about his stepmom. What do you want to bet he was blown off the first time he spoke up? The whole thing is rage-inducing and tragic. When kids complain about step parents or girlfriends/boyfriends, listen. I don't care if the kid is just trying to get attention or doesn't like following this stranger's rules. If they're resorting to complaining, they're probably not getting enough attention to begin with, and divorced parents need to set serious ground rules for their SOs and spouses when it comes to their children.

You can't judge someone by taking yourself as a standard. You can't judge a young murderer with the mental age of a 7 year old or 12 year old with a "normal" adult etc. If you start doing that, a) you need 4 times more prisons in the US and b) you're going to have to pay a hell more taxes as you're paying today. And c) you won't make your little world sociopath-free, as those that are now 10 years old will start freaking out once they're 16 and that's quite soon.

We used to have passwords but circumstances change etc and it is too easily manipulated. So the law changed from passwords to approved lists and it has proved successful. If the stepmother didn't like Scotty, she didn't have to associate with him. But even though she felt that her man prioritized the son over her, she didn't have to do that. Not only did she not gain or accomplish anything, she threw her own life away by a jail sentence.

No doubt her parents are raising her son and HER KID GETS TO VISIT her but this poor family doesn't enjoy that luxury. It's insane to me that they would allow this woman visitation with a child after she took the life of one, it's so freaken wrong. I'm not usually one for revenge -an eye for an eye but this is beyond the pale, she killed this woman's child.
