Quick summary negative things: - Don't tease her about her physical characteristics. -Be careful with how you address other people because it might be different. -Don't try to make her Jealous. -She will want herself to be the only woman in your life. -Don't help other filipinas (even innocently). -Don't talk about ex's. -Don't raise your voice. -Don't get involve into family matters unless they involve you.

Both of my ex wives had this habit of the “silent treatment” in the behavioral health field I work in its referred to as “hostile silence” it’s considered a dishonest form of anger. A man can spend hours or days trying to mentally retrace everything you have said and done. Usually after I finally figured out the problem, it’s the last thing that I would have guessed. All I ever want in a relationship is for my lady to just tell me what I did wrong right then and give me a chance to fix it. If something is important to the lady I’m with, I will make it important to myself. I just can’t handle anymore hostile silence 🙏🏽

I've been married to three western women, one American, one Native American from Canada and one western Canadian woman, I found that the silent treatment usually meant that as long as I went about my business the next few hours to days it somehow got resolved and they'd start talking to me again or they'd come at me full on battle ready for an argument until they'd had their say, once they ran out of wind I'd reach up and pretend to turn my Miracle Ear back on (hearing aids) and say "sorry, did you say something?" by then they were done with it, got it out of their system and things went back to normal, or I ended up sleeping on the couch which really wasn't punishment it was kind of like camping without the bugs and weather and I had full control of the tv remote.

A man that doesn’t know how he hurt his partner and can’t figure out what make her angry why the women gave her a silent treatment is an insensitive man that’s my opinion. A sensitive man know immediately his in trouble, he immediately aware what he has done. Especially a man that really loves and cares to his partner.

I loved your video and I have seen it in the Philippines because I have some expat friends there; some married to Filipinas and some with girlfriends. In your video you said that if you chat with another Filipina and you tell your Filipina girlfriend, “She’s just a friend,” this will not cut it with your girlfriend. Well, a couple of guys with Filipina girlfriends I know have heard this line from their Filipina girlfriends, “He’s just my cousin.” Some of the expats explained to me that when the Filipina says this, it really means. “He’s my lover when you are not around.” I have also heard what you talked about regarding sending money to another woman. Expats have told me that this means you should never send money to another woman because your wife, or girlfriend, thinks that money was for her and her family; not another woman. In regards to family matters, it seems impossible according to my friends. My friends tell me they are constantly being involved in family matters (at least those requiring money). The expats tell me they are always hounded for money by relatives needing money for hospital care, medicine, clothes, food, cell phones, school supplies, and the list goes on.

Pea, here's an idea for a video that you might like and want to do. The Filipino idea of "family" and the Western idea of "family" and who is actually who are often different. When we first got married it was frustrating at times because my wife would refer to a relative as a "niece, nephew, auntie or uncle" and I knew for sure that that was not a real relationship. As an American, I wanted to slot the person into the right hole, so I would know just who/what she was talking about. Was this really a younger second cousin, twice removed, or perhaps just a very close friend's mother or father? I'd ask, "who are they really" and she would get upset because she knew what she meant, and she didn't understand my desire/need to be more precise in actual relationship. This took us years to get resolved to our mutual satisfaction. Now, decades later, I am happy and honored to be the 'cano Lolo to dozens of young relatives who are my apos -- even though it now confuses my friends who know for sure that I don't have grandkids over in the PI. So... could you do a lecture on just how the Pinoy community sees family and titles vs. how we do it in the West, and the confusion it can lead to?
@ryan-smith
@ryan-smith Жыл бұрын
Just think about literal vs. figurative. For example, there's literal uncles and aunties (siblings of your parents). And the figurative uncles and aunties (every other relatives (or neighbors) who are about the same generation as your parents. Another example, literal "kuya and ate" or brothers and sisters (your siblings and sisters). Then there's the figurative brothers and sisters who are everyone else older than you but within your generation. If above your generation, then that's already uncles and aunties. One other example that's the most confusion, I have 3 children which is 10-year old boy, 7-year old girl, 3-year old boy. Even though they are all my children, I would sometimes call the 10-year old boy as "kuya" (big brother), the 7-year old girl as "ate" (big sister). Isn't that confusing as hell? Haha! That's our way of instilling into their minds about their role in the family. By calling my 10-year old boy as "kuya", I'm teaching him that he has siblings younger than him, and the other younger 2 children would also know that they should address him as the "kuya" (or big brother). The same reason for calling my 7-year old as "ate". We can also call them by their names or call them "anak" meaning son/daugter.

This is a video to watch again, and again. There is so much in here that is counterintuitive. I am sooooo glad I have found someone who is not offended by me having female friends. Ironically, a woman who I met early on & decided was not for me due to the jealousy thing, is now ONE of my female friends. I am happy also for her finding the right man for her just a month after we parted. My point? These are great rules to be careful about, but not all women are the same.

Great video and a lot of good advice. I wish I had seen this many years ago. It would have saved me a lot of sleepless nites. Filipinas are very sensitive in so many ways but I believe that sensitive women are better lovers. It took me a long time to figure out the ways to get along with filipinas. Especially the part about talking to other girls that were old friends. These things do not end after marriage even if she feels more secure. After you bring her here is when the culture shock really hits her. It takes a lot of patience on a mans part to make a filipina feel secure and that she is the only one. I think I have it mostly figured out after all these years. Thanks for another great video. Don’t tell her I left this comment. Haha.

Your videos are explaining so many things that I really need to know. I have tripped on a few “cultural land mines” already. I am lucky that I have 2 aunts that are Filipinas. I have called them a few times to ask what I did. Generally now they answer the phone with. “Hi Bill, what did you screw up now”? They have also become friends with her and help to get us both on track again. Your videos are Gods answer to my prayers of understanding.

I was pretty aware of most of the rules already, but a reminder every once in awhile helps. I learned recently that tampo is not just a man woman issue. My filipina gf told that she had a minor disagreement with a female friend and now her friend has gone tampo on her. I think one of my gf's biggest fears is shouting. I can't count the number of times she has mentioned how she hates loud arguments, even though I have told her numerous times I'm a very calm guy and not a shouter. I love learning about Filipino culture and can't wait to get there to experience it for myself.

And I do not flirt but I can see how it could be. I am the SGT of Arms in all my bowling leagues and I always get everyone before the start of bowling, the guys get a handshake and the ladies get a hug so I guess I can see that. Would she be upset when the money I sent to support women/children/families around the world? For the rest of the video, I got that covered, I am a ONE-WOMAN MAN! I think I would fit in perfectly there. Another GREAT Video!
