The Fish Locker

Жыл бұрын

Coastal Foraging - Scallops, Crabs, Clams and Amazing underwater Sea Creatures. A search along an area of low tide coastline showing how to find scallops and crabs. Talking about the different sea creatures and clams we find. We then make an amazing discovery, the super low tide has exposed many baby shark eggs, we rescue the baby sharks and release them to safety. Then The Fishlocker family have a wonderful sunny winter beach cookup. I show how to prepare Scallops and how to cook Scallops on an open fire. Simple and delicious. If you enjoyed this video please check out more of our Coastal Foraging Playlist and have a wonderful day.

You two are amazing parents to a wonderful young man who, whilst giving us so much enjoyment in broadening our knowledge, impart it on to James whilst bringing these videos together. As for the gastronomic results at the end...??? Get outa here man!!! LUSH!! As ever... my Best Wishes to all of you.

I love the way you are teaching your son how to forge, what is safe and what is not, not taking the things you don't care to eat, like the oysters, I have family that will take everything because they can "share with others". Afterwards it just goes to waste. These are life lessons that will help him many years from now. The fact that you don't take everything, but only enough to feed your family for this one meal also shows respect for the land. You are teaching him the ins and outs of living from the land. Seafood is best eaten when fresh because it goes bad fast, nobody wants bad seafood. Thank you for sharing with us, many will never be able to do this on our own. Your son is well behaved and respectful, that is awesome and something we don't see enough. I wish half of the students I worked with had parents teach this at home. Thank you again for sharing with us. May God continue to bless your family.

This child (James) and his children will never starve. His Mom & Pop are teaching him invaluable lessons that are sadly never taught any longer. I am so glad that growing up in elementary school we were brought down to the shores of Gloucester, and Rockport for discovery field trips and we were taught basics of foraging. We turned over rocks and searched for and learned how to respect the wildlife of the areas. Is this even done anymore? Of course not, in America they are too busy teaching boys, that they can be girls and girls, that they can be boys.

Hearing your pride when James IDs the slipper limpets is so sweet. He's a brilliant boy because his father shares so much knowledge with him (and with all of us!)

James has grown up sooooo much over the course of my journey of watching your channel. He also seems to be taking more of an interest in it all. I love this!!

I love your definition of a huge chunk of butter as "a little tiny knob". People after my own heart. I also love hte pointing out and explaining of even the non-edible things.

It all depends how big you consider a “big knob” to be. 😉

Vids like this make me miss living near a coast. Arizona tends to be pretty far from even the Pacific although there are points further away in the USA. I lived in New York off the coast when I was a kid and, had I stayed as an adult or moved to the Pacific coast I might be taking many cues from you. The catch and cooks often if not usually look delicious!

I so love these foraging videos! The way you and Hannah teach James is marvelous. What seems like eons ago, back in the late 1960's, my family and I spent the summer in San Louis Obispo, California. There was a beach there called Hazard Canyon that we would go to often. Dad would check for low tides and we would go then. I immensely enjoyed these trips as we could explore the tide pools in the rocks. We didn't forage for anything, there was not the verity of things like you have in Cornwall. Watching your videos brings back good memories for me. I only wish I could still do this. Unfortunately, doing this in a wheelchair isn't possible. Thank you very much for taking me along with you!
