Hi Denise...your videos and presentations are excellent...thank you so much. I've been diagnosed with hypertonic pelvic floor muscles by my physio...and she advised and instructed me to use the therawand...I get frustrated and fail to persevere with it. Have you any suggestions please? I think I will go through your 7 steps video to see if this helps. Any other suggestions? Thank you

Hi Ailish, thanks for the positive feedback. I would advise that you avoid pelvic floor strengthening exercises for now as they will add tension to the pelvic floor and if you have hypertonicity, you should be working to release tension. The wand will help to release tension but will not adjust the muscular length-tension relationship. In order to do that, you need to consistently practice pelvic floor relaxation exercises and work to lower your stress levels. You can use any of the videos in this pelvic floor relaxation playlist to help retrain the length tension relationship: kzfaq.info/sun/PLTrM-0Yl3Pcs-vpFq9mYzeDyIXDaittaq and I suggest you also read this article as it explains a little more about this subject: theflowerempowered.com/2020/10/29/should-you-focus-on-length-before-strength-with-pfd-oct-2020/ Circle back if you have questions and I would be happy to answer 😊💕

@@TheFlowerEmpowered thanks so much. Did a Nidra body scan then one of your videos with legs up against the wall. All feels very relaxing...should I progress onto the wand then after...Also should I do these daily for a while before attempting the strengthening Kegels? I know its like asking how long is a piece of string...or will I just know. Thanks for sharing your knowledge...I'm sure it helps a lot of people

That’s a great question Ailish, I would practice the relaxation exercises every day for a couple of weeks, using the wand before to help release any tight spots. The addition of strengthening exercises can be included if necessary, although they are not always necessary. If you add them after a few weeks and they retrigger your symptoms, take them away again. View all of the exercises as tools for your pelvic floor toolkit. If things get tight, you can add relaxation. If you experience leakage or loss of sensation, you can add some strengthening exercises. Once you learn to listen to your body, you can respond with the right tools to keep everything in working order 😊💕

Hi thanks fir the video. What do you do if you can’t feel the different areas ? Thank you :)
@TheFlowerEmpowered
@TheFlowerEmpowered 3 жыл бұрын
You should try the exercises again and gently touch the area you are trying to reach. Touch will help with establishment of mind to muscle connection. If you still can’t feel the areas being contracted, have a pelvic floor physiotherapist assess your pelvic floor. It might be that your muscles are hypertonic (overly contracted).

I have been practicing vajroli and Ashwini mudra for last one year (or kegels ) bt the way u guided in steps esp. adding the first and second one to the practice, its really a different n better experience thanks ma'am. I have a doubt related to pelvic floor exercise, u instruct for PFM contractions while exhaling bt my teacher also taught me to contract PFM durring inhalation as well as exhalation also. Like kegels/ bandha with internal breath retention ??? May u guide n clarify me in this, which one to do in what kind of situation...??
@TheFlowerEmpowered
@TheFlowerEmpowered Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! I instruct to take the contraction on exhalation when you are starting out with these exercises. This is because the pelvic floor lifts slightly on the exhale due to its relationship with the breathing diaphragm. Once you feel that you can do all the different parts of a pelvic floor exercise, you can do it in one go rather than doing the separate elements. From there, you can move to doing speed contractions and endurance contractions. After that, functional exercises are required. There are lots of videos on the channel covering this progression of exercise as well as a 30 Day challenge which you can try when you are feeling some control. The 30 day challenge covers functional exercises and relaxation exercises for your pelvic floor. Hope that helps!

Is there any difference for kegal for prolapse before and after prolapse surgery...
@TheFlowerEmpowered
@TheFlowerEmpowered 3 жыл бұрын
No difference. You are working the same muscles in the same way. You may need some physiotherapy to help release scar tissue following the surgery but it’s not typically offered (even though it’s very beneficial)!

Could you help me find a pelvic floor specialist in Okinawa, Japan?

Jessica, I’ve asked a physio friend who is based in Tokyo and will get back to you when she responds. Pelvic floor physiotherapy is growing in popularity in Japan and there are many studies underway there into different treatments so I would imagine there should be someone local available.
