I think these "Consumable" games are fine. I can see people starting up swap meet groups for them and swapping for other consumables. Might be an idea to bring up at game meetups

Great Review! This game is truly captivating, really stirs the imagination. Many subliminal messages embedded in the cards. The artwork is wicked cool and really draws you in. Loved it!!!

Dan, I have watched this review of TIME STORIES now 5 times. I truly love your "explosive" reaction to the game, and must tell you that our gaming group had the selfsame reaction when we finally saw the solution to the last puzzle in Asylum. What makes this game so special is its reliance on good communication, immersion and groupthink. We've started Marcy Case, and can't wait to try the third expansion.

If 2 people want to attack an enemy, do they throw their dice together or seperately? Because this influences the damage they take

I love the theme music after your intro (the one with the cellos)! Is that a clip from Garageband or some other music editor? If not, where did you get it? What is the title?

HI Donna, That is an original composition from myself. I am a sax player, and a music producer so I played every instrument you hear there (including the drum beat).

TheGameBoyGeek - Hi Quality Hi Energy Board Game Reviews Nice!! You should sell clips on some of those sites that sell drops for radio & podcast production! I knew you were a sax player b/c you played at the end of the video. Do you use all real instruments, including the tympani? Did you know Enya did every voice and instrument in her albums? No wonder it took at least 2 years between albums! Anyway, I love that clip. It's simple, but has energy and an appealing chord progression. Did you also compose the bed under your voiceover at the beginning of the vid? I hope you are able to make a living from your composing and performing! I played saxophone from Grades 4-12 and then again in a community band as an adult. I played alto, tenor, and bari sax but my fave by far was the tenor sax. Too bad that was the school's instrument and not my own or I might still be playing b/c I miss it all these years later. I still have a 100 year old bari sax that I've been trying to sell for years, but they are expensive, as you know, so most individuals can't buy one on a whim.

Thanks, I use real sax, then all others are done with me playing the keyboard. I don't do music full time, but am an engineer full time. I'm doing less music now since I'm trying to do the Board Game reviews full time soon. But I'll need to grow the Kickstarter campaign a lot over the next few years to make that a reality. Here was the campaign from this year...www.kickstarter.com/projects/293767764/game-boy-geek-season-4/description

Don't the rules say that a 2 player game should have each player controlling two characters? So it is effectively a four player game? And if so, how does that diminish the experience vs. a 4 player game?
@TheGameBoyGeeks
@TheGameBoyGeeks 8 жыл бұрын
+Jeff Fike Yes 2 players act as 2 characters. It's just more engaging only reading once per turn and listening to the others. The publisher recently told me they are re-designing the future scenarios to be better with 2 players.

Hey ... I have question Sir. SPOILER WARNING -- Regarding gameplay. Im not sure if this situation is exclusive to asylum. But if you go for another run -- and you have some loc you're not allowed to access due to some choices made in the previous run -- would that open the said location.

Are you unable to play the game more then once because of destroying stuff or is it more like when you know the story you wont play it again ? Can i play it with another group if i play along withouten spoling it ?
@TheGameBoyGeeks
@TheGameBoyGeeks 8 жыл бұрын
+Sebastiaan Kuijs Nothing gets destroyed so you can play it again, but you'll know the major plot twists. It is fun to watch others go through it and experience it. You could play it again with them, but you'd need to not push towards the tough puzzle solutions once you know them (really the final one).

Hi there, Im considering buying this game but Im confuse cause I heard that this game is only worth playing only once for each scenario, should I buy it? :( (sorry for my bad English)
@TheGameBoyGeeks
@TheGameBoyGeeks 8 жыл бұрын
+Akira ps Each scenario can be played more than once (not destructive play like a legacy style game). But most likely after one play through (which takes 4-6 hours) you probably won't play it again because you know the story and how to solve it. But there are new scenarios every 3 months and 4 already available. It's totally worth it because it's the most immersive board ever designed. Period.

So I've heard the whole "comparison to the cost of a movie" thing before, but the thing is I'm not paying for everyone else's ticket. I'm still likely to get it, but I just think the comparison is weak. (Like the Sax stuff!)
@fajero

+zeroisnine Well you don't need to here either. Me and my friend are going to play today and we paid 1/4 each.
@zeroisnine

+fajero Is this a common thing? I've never done this or heard of this (though I'm not surprised it has happened). How do you determine who keeps the physical copy?
@fajero
@fajero 8 жыл бұрын
+zeroisnine I do not know if it is common, but we have done it with some other stuff too, like paints an brushes for miniatures, the miniatures themselves and we plan to do the same for pandemic legacy. Well, we are all close friends so I can't imagine that it will become an issue, I guess it will be the one that has the most room =)
@TheGameBoyGeeks
@TheGameBoyGeeks 8 жыл бұрын
+zeroisnine WIth normal board games usually one person buys and keeps it. In this case since it's consumable it much more fits that model where people could chip in for it since it's one and done. Otherwise, you could say that you spend $10 on a movie ticket for 3 movies (90 min movies). You're already at about the same price without the popcorn or drink. Plus that's assuming you finish it in 3 runs which may or may not happen.
@Bodyknock
@Bodyknock 8 жыл бұрын
+zeroisnine Just use the comparison that for the cost of seeing four movies that last six hours in total you can play this game four times.

It would be great if you didn't repeat the fact that you "are not including spoilers" and that everything you're showing is "available on the website so no spoilers here!" The video would be a lot shorter and much more enjoyable 😊
@TheGameBoyGeeks
@TheGameBoyGeeks 8 жыл бұрын
+Christopher Joseph Many people skip intro's and skip around the video, so I wanted to be sure they knew what I was showing that might look like spoilers truly aren't. For example the Day room might look like a spoiler to the majority of viewers that most likely didn't do their own research before watching the video.

+TheGameBoyGeek - Hi Quality Hi Energy Board Game Reviews I totally disagree with Christopher. It would be a lot shorter? Maybe 30-45 seconds. Thats why it would be much more enjoyable for you? Come on dude. Dan I have to thank you that you were so considerate and telling us again and again that there are no spoilers. This game is a new experience for all of us, so you did really well with this review :)
