Spider-Man has A LOT of the spirit of the comics and other adaptations, I cannot imagine a better homage. And defending Arkham City just with the date of release is a mediocre allegation, you're implying that the videogame isn't that good because of the year it comes, and reviewing it with less criteria than the regular one.

Any 80s & 90s Adventure game made by companies like Sierra. Modern Adventure games like those made by Quantic dreams. Japanese visual novels from the 80s, 90s and upto today. Numerous 90s JRPGs including adventure or action hybrids like 'survival horror'. Numerous 3D action platformers & Collectathon. Numerous story action games like BioShock series, uncharted and Alan Wake. The entire Fallout & Baldur's gate series. Planescape, Arcanum and Vampire the Masquerade bloodlines. Numerous modern, 2002-2023 cRPGs since. The entire Witcher franchise. Deus Ex series. Whatever, the list goes on.

Spider-Man 2 is fantastic and insanely fun. But Arkham City just can’t be beat. The attention to detail, the world design and the story was just perfection. The Mr Freeze boss fight is still to this day one of the best boss fights ever in my opinion.

Since I was a kid I’ve always been a big fan of Spiderman, unlike Batman, who didn't really catch my attention. Of these two games the first one I could play was Spiderman and I liked the story and gameplay, I really enjoyed playing this game, however later I could play the Batman games and let me tell you that they are pure gold, the stories are fascinating, as shown in this video, the graphics and gameplay are amazing too. As a big Spiderman fan I must say that BAK is a thousand times better than MSM2.

Looking at the two, their overall personality is really reflected in their combat styles. Spider-man is all about having fun. His combat style is stylish and over the top and he'll actually go out of his way to perform more complex and difficult moves just because it's fun. Where as batman is all about simple efficiency. He's style is more about simple, fast, powerful attacks, meant to take out the enemy in as few hits as possible. Spider man's also more gentle than batman. His go-to finishing move usually involves tieing enemies up in webs, where as bat man will just hit you until you stay down.

The best part is arkham series always surpassed its predecessor. Unlike Spider-Man, somehow, while there's a huge improvement on combat and traversal, it even got some downgraded mechanics like less gadgets and less stealth focus or improvement. On top of that, add more MJ section and make her one shot everybody? Somehow It feels like she's the superhero in that game. And don't let me start with miles last suit. Obviously it was for marketing Adidas or something.

I know everyone likes to compare the new Spider-Man games to the Arkham games, but it’s not quite a fair comparison. The Arkham games are fundamentally different since they focus on Batman, which means the gameplay is slower, less flashy, and more brutal. Spider-Man’s gameplay stays true to his character and is fast, flashy, and more light in tone. Both are great but can’t really be objectively better than the other due to the radically different focuses. That being said it’s still amazing how well Arkham City holds up all these years later

@@-Anonymous-.Nah I played Arkham City and its a good game better than Arkham series and even the first Marvel Spiderman game but the second Spidey game and Arkham city are both equal in terms of fun ane story And leaving that the other spider man games like Shattered Dimensions,Ultimate Spider-Man and Web of Shadows are better than some games like Arkham Knight cause those games have an actual fun boss fights rather than tank battles and this is coming from a guy who played all the games from both of the series

This is like comparing LeBron to MJ. But for me, I will still go with Arkham City over Spiderman 2 anyday of the week. From boss battles to side missions, to character designs & story, I just love the mature & gothic style of the Arkham series. Arkham City's side mission, you get to hunt Deadshot & take him down which is pretty badass. In Spider-Man 2's side mission, you get to help a gay dude to connect with another gay dude which is super cringe & forced. Not saying that it makes SM2 a bad game, it's just that video games nowadays must be politically correct & woke compare to the time of video gaming Arkham series was created where every developer has a creative freedom with their games. PS: Every gamer is entitled to their own opinion unless Sony fanboys get butthurted & offended. 😅😅

Frankly, to compare Arkham City with Spider-Man 2 is just disrespectful. Arkham City has soul and sense to spare, Spider-Man 2 (2023) will be brutally outdated 2 years from now. Arkham is a game for young adult men who are comic book fans, both insomniac games are made for "everyone" which is code...for sub-15 y.o kids with the attention span of a mosquito.

@@juscameron7439 I understand where you're coming from but in the end it will come down to how good you got at each game, the thing about Arkham City is that it is a perfect middle ground between Asylum and Knight, the combat is a lot deeper and the traversal is a lot faster, but at the same time, this means that it isn't as deep and fast as Knight, and it departs from the artistic, comic-booky, atmospheric tone of Asylum, so depending on your taste and skill level, you may see the glass half full or half empty. I love Arkham City, i have fully mastered all of these games, and at this point in my life, i came to the conclusion that my favorite is Arkham Asylum, even if my steam hours would claim otherwise hahahaha, but for the longest time, Arkham City was my favorite. Arkham City has aged like wine, Spider-Man 2 will age like milk.

I totally cannot understand the people who say Arkham city or knight are better than spiderman i played both Arkham games and yes they are one of the best ever games for me made but spiderman took the foundation of arkham games and made better in every aspect you arkham fans either you like batman as a character more than spiderman which is understandable why choose arkahm games over spiderman or just you did not play spiderman 2018 and miles morales and spiderman 2 you are in denial you have to accept that fact arkham games are epic and verg good but spiderman took the superhero games to next level insomniac studio taking superhero games to another level and wait for wolverine and daredevil games and spiderman 3

Arkham knight much better in details than Arkham city... There is also a video on this channel where he compared Akram Knight and Marvel Spider man 2 and Batman was the clear winner, in terms of world details and NPCs, despite the fact that it came out 8 years earlier So... you're lying, you either haven't played Arkham knight or haven't even completed half of it

I'm also a fine arts graduate, also a professional artist. If you're an artist and truly prefer dull architecture, ambience, villian designs, voice acting of Spider-Man, best you'll ever be is a elementary school painting teacher. Arkham trilogy is Gothic Art Deco with German Expressionism, every building is meticulously designed. Voice acting is the best cast ever put on a game. Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill, Troy Baker, Nolan North, Tara Strong, Jonathan Banks etc... By far the best voice cast in a game. The dialogues, the tension, build up all better in Arkham games. Characters designs are also top notch. Arkham trilogy is proof that you don't need high fidelity, high def textures to make great graphics, It's all about art direction kiddo. You're probably an artistically bankrupt 16 year old Tom Holland/Miles fangirl who likes to waste time following around a deaf girl in Spiderman 2, or play Mary Jane sections. Or ride a bike like it's Life Is Strange. All Batman media is art. Movies, Games, Music, Acting, Set Desings, Architecture, Character, Costume, Vehicle and Fashion Desings... Each Batman media has it's own unique artistic vision. Spider-Man is always the same, dull, boring, every-day stuff. / minus these new Spider-Verse movies, which are truly great, animation wise.
